So now that we have one-uped Johann's staff with our dragon-bone legendary pun-stick, and now that we are going to flex on his teacher/parental figure by bringing our own to the duckling club, how do we arrange a dragon-off between Cython and Deathfang?

So the Dragon named itself Cython, which is very funny.

Cython- The Serpent, Wisdom, Knowledge, Futility, symbol of Lileath
Lileath- Goddess of Moon, Dreams and Fortune

Cython, the dragon, may or may not be able to sense the attentions of Fortune on us but I think it's very funny that people want to date the Futility and Fortune dragon.

also: We did ask the dwarves to do some digging on "Cython" the dragon, and a prismatic dragon going by that name was noted to have been camping in Araby, swooping out to slay Druchii ships.

I'm not sure any being would have had the sheer stangeness to even ask Cython for a romantic relationship. And we're not even of Hysh for crying out loud hahaha

Cython's interlude was one of the best. I'm not going to be upset if they win, but I will be somewhat baffled. Like.
Are we enamored of their power? of their beauty? of their knowledge?
What does a romance with a being such as them even look like?

I think that some of what people are interpreting as "people aren't seriously voting for romance" is some people seriously being enamored with "how does romance with an Emperor Dragon even work? Can it go? Do it be? I want the mystery box of beautiful elder power that makes my heart race"
which is actually a valid reason for romance. Mystery, risk, wonder

Elspeth of the Amethyst College (promoted to Matriarch of the Amethyst due to quest shenanigans) is friends with a Carmine Dragon. We can always see if we can talk to her about speaking with dragons, if we're trying to make sure we can be friends or more with Cython.

Then it flew west, and lent it's name to the Bay of Cython. Then the dwarven records lose fidelity due to the time of woes and such, and this prismatic dragon identifying as Cython would be the first recording of it in thousands of years.
This isn't true?
"I've found a definitive match in the records of Barak Varr."

"Blast. What did it do?"

"Records, not Grudges. There's an archipelago off the coast of Araby they call the Sorcerers' Islands. A few centuries after Barak Varr razed Ulthuan's colony on them during the War of Vengeance, the dragon made its home there. For three hundred years, anything the Naggarothi had short of a Black Ark had to go all the way around the western side of Ulthuan, because if they passed between Ulthuan and Araby they'd either go too far east and be assaulted by the dragon, or too far west and run aground on the Shifting Isles. Eventually it either left or was driven out by Araby, but for a long time it was an important strategic advantage over the corsairs."

"It never attacked a Dwarven ship? And that's all you can find on it?"

"Only ever the Naggarothi. And there's not many Ice Dragons in any records of the Karaz Ankor, and they all tend to be fairly distinctive. That's the only time we've previously encountered it."
I am not sure where those other details you mentioned come from, but they sure aren't in the quest.

This could very well be a dragon that taught Elgi their magic. I'm not sure any being would have had the sheer stangeness to even ask Cython for a romantic relationship. And we're not even of Hysh for crying out loud hahaha
The Elves were taught magic by the Slann, specifically Lord Kroak and the others of the First Generation.

Roswita's interlude wasn't what dating her was going to be like, it was what marrying her was going to be like. I for one had no issues with that preview.
Valid. I wouldn't say I had an issue with that interaction, to be clear. It's just, I like the fun what-are-these-strange-tingly-feelings stages of flirtitude. We've seen that Mathilde can take Roswita by surprise (in some ways), I think. Now I want to see her make Roswita blush.

@BurnNote, another reason to vote Eike is to see if Wilhemina is a terrible parent or not.
She did a shit job with her two other kids and the way she got Eike was amazingly unethical, but when we saw Eike in passing nothing was going horribly wrong in a visible fashion.

Personally, I'd be perfectly fine with losing an AP (or more than one) for Mathilde to dedicate to 'raising children' time. I know that not everybody would agree, though.
Time is not the problem I was thinking about. (We can just remove all the boring research from our plan. :p )

Dragon is fourth... as long as he is in I am glad, but... a few more votes and he can come second and become first choice.

Something that's been overlooked among all the romance discussion,
There's also representations of Verena, Morr, and Shallya, as well as a God you don't recognize. From the symbology you'd guess Taal, except you're fairly sure Taal is one of the Northern Gods, and wouldn't have been known to the ancestors of Tilea.
Does anyone with more knowledge of WHF lore than me have any idea who this mystery god is?

At some point since the Expedition she started learning FC spells.
I'm fairly certain she had Cure Blight back on the Expedition, and was also noted as having Magic 5 at a time (with her staff, I assumed at the time.)
But the rest of the post is correct- Panoramia is one of the few who gets Mathildes sense of humour and good-naturedly plays along, giving Mathilde-the-dorky-showwoman the reaction shes looking for.
I think Panoramia likes Mathilde-the-dorky-showwoman.

So, votes. At this point for those of us not wanting this, there is only expressing preference amongst romance options left to us, and I'd find some of the candidates very unpalatable.

I've wanted to check in on Eike for a long while, and the canal since the Chancellor Interrupt, and they're close to getting in.

[X] Kasmir, to see how he's keeping himself busy in Sylvania.

Be happy to see the old crew or stomping grounds, too. There's also the Appearing In Folk Mythology angle to Stirland now.

The obvious choice is Kurnous. Taal's symbols are antlers, oaks, and stone axes, all things you make an easy connection to Kurnous with. Could always be a god I'm unaware of though, my knowledge of WHF is hardly all-encompassing.

My suspicion, mostly unfounded, is that it's a proto-form of the Horned Rat. I considered it because it's the most interesting narrative possibility.

But here's some actual evidence though. First, one Taal's symbols is antlers, and he's often depicted with them. He's also animal associated. On the other hand, we have the Horned Rat. The horn part is pretty important for it, so it makes sense it would show up. And if it somehow turned the city of Tylos into Skaven, perhaps they turned themselves into one as well.

I would much prefer to not involve parenthood in this Quest. Once Mathilde picks up a child we will be faced with the decision to either make her a shitty parent or to miss out on a whole lot of fun adventures...
She takes a few months off on adventure every year. I think as long as the other partner was happy to be the more primary caregiver it'd be okay.

For which Pan and Anton would be the best bets. They're also good bets for having a blood-related child (Johann being the other plausible one for that that's in the running, but he'd be just as bad a primary caregiver as Mathilde - the kid would be raised mostly by a nanny at that point)

Personally I think that Mathilde would be better off with a hardworking homebody partner that has some ambition, rather than either a lazy partner (like the dragon) or another adventurer (like Johann). Or, at the very least, that's what I would most enjoy seeing.

Fertility cult that predates the Empire, unknown to anyone else and is willing to kill to preserve the secret of their existence. And Jade Wizards do commonly carry sickles...

Is the Jade College a more benign cult of Ahalt the Drinker?
