Something I noticed nobody commented on is how absolutely insane Adela is at writing papers.

Learning of 20 + 27 from other traits, and I bet her impeccable memory keeps ideas "Fresh" for the +10 longer.

She has nearly a 50/50 chance of writing a 100+ skill paper each time. She's awesome as hell.

With her specialty being Steam, I hope we are able to work with her soon on a joint wind enchantment. We have a very mathematical understanding of Ulgu due to the Matrix, and Adela seems to be Engineering based and that should work well together.

Of the wizards of K8Peaks I think she's probably the most interesting to do multi-wind studying with. I've no idea what we'll make, but she's reallly damn good at paper writing and learning.

I really like all of our duckies and have been worried Adela was a bit on the lesser side, but looking at her character sheet uhhh no. No actually that's uh. She's awesome actually

EDIT: Maybe we should tell our duckies (and Pan) to make use of the Paper Making Room while we're gone. I'd be interested in what they're going to make on their own time.

Especially Panoramia, because we aren't allowed to know about her secret druidic stuffs and I want her to be smug about writing a paper or something that's a secret we can't know unless we're married because that sounds like a fun way to tease us :V

A secret that is too secret for us to know, but that we know exists, but that we respect the person enough to not trespass, but that we're curious about anyway because we weren't even aware of druid secrets :V

something that's really kept under wraps about the magic that is most able to grow a burrito from seemingly nothing

I would much prefer to not involve parenthood in this Quest. Once Mathilde picks up a child we will be faced with the decision to either make her a shitty parent or to miss out on a whole lot of fun adventures...

Now that we reached that bag of worms I want to however note that my two favourite would totally be the best widowed single parents.:V
Panoramia has two wonderful support networks for such purposes and the Van Hal families parenting traditions barely care about the state of the predecessors anyway.:V

[X] Belegar, to discuss the northern Karaks and the Expedition.

[X] Barak Varr, to watch the progress of the canal.
[X] [ROMANCE] The Ice Dragon of Karag Zilfin
[X] [ROMANCE] Elector Countess Roswita van Hal

Panoramia has a fun vibe with Mathilde, and I continue to hold out hope for Roswita's enemies -> friends -> lovers arc. In particular, I'd really like a chance to gauge Mathilde's chemistry with Roswita in a setting a little more conducive to romance than showing up to watch her give a paper to an academic conference.
For me, that interaction really seemed like a comfortable couple already. First, there's the simple spending time together bit, "Honey does this look right to you?" which then leads to the "OK, I guess I should mingle with my coworkers," followed by "Dear, you know I like you, but the people you work with want to burn me on a pyre are jerks." Which naturally leads to "Oh of course, I'll meet up with you later for snacks, try to survive without me!" And lastly, the post stressful mingling banter to relax. Not to mention the "Come have a go if you fink you's 'ard enough" reaction to somebody heckling our girl.

Roswita's interlude wasn't what dating her was going to be like, it was what marrying her was going to be like. I for one had no issues with that preview.

We just met her two years ago, though, and haven't seen Kasmir in much longer.

We were introduced to her, and barely interacted. Narratively, every six month delay for Eike is going to be significant in a way that it isn't for Kasmir. Kasmir's still going to be doing Kasmir things in six months. For a child, 180 days is the equivalent of an entire school year.

[X] Pay a visit to your fief, to see if anything has changed. It probably hasn't.

The vote is some really tense shit. There have been so many reversals. For a while, the dragon was second place, then they dropped off to sixth or so, and now it's back to third. Kasimir also made a huge comeback, which I'm feeling someone mixed about, mostly because Kasimir is great but I really want Dragon. Eike's strong performance surprises me, I don't remember much chatter about her. I do approve in general, setting aside the "but Dragon!" aspect, I just didn't expect it.

I think it's cool that Belegar is leading so hard, while also tanking really hard in the romance candidate vote. It's neat to see that SV is in fact capable of having a bro relationship. I'm pretty surprised Anton and Roswita tanked so hard (not really about Oswald, sorry pickle). Anton especially had a great scene. And Panpan is leaving her previous rival Johann far behind isn't really what I expected either, Johann's scene was basically Ancestor God shipping, what with sparks and magnetic ore.
[X] Kasmir, to see how he's keeping himself busy in Sylvania.

I like Johann. I think he and Mathilde have had a lot of fun scenes together.
Shouldn't you be voting for him then?

EDIT: @Aegon Targaryen you're vote isn't being counted properly. I think you wrote Karak instead of Karag.

There's been some low-key pushing for Eike since she was introduced. She is, after all, part of the future of the EIC similar to what Mandred is for the Empire, and it would be a good idea to check in on how that's progressing. I've been voting for her since turn 27.

Personally, I'd be perfectly fine with losing an AP (or more than one) for Mathilde to dedicate to 'raising children' time. I know that not everybody would agree, though.

Ok changing my vote for this because I don´t want to romance a dragon...

Don´t get me wrong I would love a platonic friendship, but a creature that can potentially be older than the godamned Lord Mazamundi is waaay too old for Mathilde...

I fully understand the logic. Like I said, I totally agree, I just didn't see it coming.

See, I've never understood this viewpoint. If both parties are adults, consenting and aware of what they're getting into, why does the age difference matter? Yes, Mathilde would be the less experienced member of the couple, but so long as she knows that going in and it doesn't affect the personal aspects of the relationship (as opposed to the metaphysical, material, magical, etc), then I don't see the problem.

If relationships are supposed to be between equals, then a large difference in age is a large difference in life experience, and that translates to a major inequality in all sorts of metrics like power, maturity, skill, etc.

To be fair it is mostly that I do not see the "inherent eroticism of dragons" and I don´t see any romantic vibes from their interaction...

Butt even then, this is not a gap of decades or even centuries, it is a gap of tens of thousands of years, that is too much for me...

We've got pretty much no chance of a relationship between equals. We're way more personnaly dangerous than all of them (with one exception), and there's a rank difference with most of them two (Roswita outranks us, we outrank most of the others. Anton would be fairly equal in that way, but we can get him to do whatever we want anyway).

We know he's more than a thousand, but I'm not aware of anything that says he's multiple tens of thousands old. Where do you get that?

I also want to point out that base time is a hell of a lot less important than lived experience. If you nap for hundreds of of years at a time, you're effective age will the a fraction of the chronological. Whereas Mathilde has a very exciting life. She's been betrayed, lost people she greatly respected, forgiven, and archived great things.

Mind, Cython is going to be the older, more experienced partner in most respects. I don't think there's any doubt there. (Though as a monkeyhuman is part of a society, which gives her way more social experience than any lone being, so unless there used to be a society of dragons, or he hung out with elves, she might actually have more than him). I just don't think the mismatch is as great as you say. And I mean, look at Kragg. He's over a thousand, and we get along great with him.

I agree with most of the most, of the most but we actually do know he is much older than a thousand. He's an Emperor Dragon, that makes him older than the coming of the Old Ones and all of humankind
As far as I know, Emperor Dragon means "Really, really, really powerful dragon", and that correlates really closely with age. But I'm not aware of any hard numbers. Has anything about that come up?
