[X] Plan: Skaven Knowledge Bomb

Has the Hubert and the Peat actions which I dearly want.

----
I don't see the utility for Pan in pushing her to Magister, she won't get more or better resources than she has access to now, wrt agriculture. Also, I would like to work with her on the magical componets of the waaghsoak mushrooms if possible.

Hmmmm, I wonder how they will react to AV.

"Pour AV on everything! That's how we science!"

Hrm, thanks.

I guess Rune of Reloading, so that we can drown a Cursed hard target in weight of fire? Would also make them more useful against swarms of lighter enemies. Anyone with more familiarity with Dwarf runes have a better idea?

If we're focused entirely on airborne targets, Flakkson's rune of Seeking was designed specifically to hunt down dragon riders and makes shots more accurate against anything that can fly. The Rune of Penetrating can increase the strength of the bolt hitting the dragon making it more likely to hurt whatever it's hitting. The Rune of Accuracy does the same thing as Flakkson's, but can be applied to anything and can stack with Flakkson's rune. A Master rune of disguise could be good if you want to hide the Bolt Throwers from aerial targeting/sabotage. Other than those I don't think there are super useful engineering runes.

Edit: Specified what The Rune of Accuracy stacks with.

[X]Plan moving on (Dragon needs fill in)
-[X] MAX: Receive dictation: specify which. Must be taken with a 'dictate' action.
--[X]Queekish-Reikspiel Dictionary, including spoken Low Queekish
-[X] Serenity dictate Queekish-Reikspiel Dictionary, including spoken Low Queekish
-[X] JOHANN: Write a paper: specify which.
--[X] Ratling Gun mechanism and countermeasures (FADING) (can be written by Johann)
-[X]DUCK: Work with Panoramia to try to implement the Waaaghsoak Mushrooms as an aid to spellcasting.
-[X]EIC: Completely and over management of the EIC intelligence apparatus to the Hochlander. Will remove this section from future turns and regain the half-turn invested in it.
-[X]Attempt to interest a young Runesmith with ambition and flexibility in the interaction between Runes and Vitae. (will give a selection of candidates)
--[X]Gambler
--[X]Move EIC half action to AV
-[X] Build a new tower with anti-dragon capabilities (specify Dwarven Rune or College spell it would be based on; does not cost favour).
-[X]Branulhune's ability to disappear and reappear at a thought allows entirely new forms of combat. Try to create them.
--[X]Gambler
-[X] Eshin Sorcerer paper

I want to move the action from EIC. Might as well get our favor worth. Write some fadding papers and improve our swordwomenship. Also mushrooms.

I strongly feel that a 2 hour moratorium was not nearly enough for this vote by the by. Especially since we have to cram in completely write in tower ideas on top of making a regular plan. Very little actual discussion time.

1. Our assignment is not a 2-turn one, just one turn.

It's currently halfway through the year.
2. We took a Panoramia action last turn.
1. Our assignment is also to produce the queekish research. You'll also note that the assignment is described as "a light one". You're massively overengineering this thing to begin with, spreading 1 action over another turn should be fine when we've already got the lighting tower to do a lot of the job.

2.Panormia has been wanting to test for Magister since (checks) Turn 25 and we've been ignoring it ever since. Even if we took an action with her it isn't the same.

Off the top of my head, Rune of Accuracy and Master Rune of Disguise. Flakkson's Rune of Seeking on Bolt Throwers. Maybe some Runes of Penetrating.

Thank you, I added suggested runes to the plan.

My point is that we don't have another turn, Belegar wants this done by the end of the year. If we're going to take two actions on it, they both need to be this turn. If we're going to take one action on it, I will welcome suggestions on what a single action to build something capable of at least meaningfully threatening the Ice Dragon would entail, because I have yet to see people seriously propose one.

WRT killing dragons with magic - I made an overview of Battle Magic spells capable of the feat some time ago:
forums.sufficientvelocity.com

Warhammer Fantasy: Divided Loyalties - an Advisor's Quest Fantasy - Users' Choice!

As a Journeywoman, Grey Wizard Mathilde Weber is dropped into the deep end of intrigue and double-dealing after a surprise assignment to the necromancer-afflicted province of Stirland. Follow her trials, travails, feats and discoveries as she makes her way in the world and does her best to...

TLDR: Best way to kill a giant dragon is an I-save spell, like Purple Sun or Pit of Shades, but they may need some changes to work against a flying target.

[X] Plan All Out Research
-[X] MAX: Study an artefact:
-[X] JOHANN: Have him teach Adela what he knows of engineering.
-[X] DUCK: Panoramia's about ready to test for Magister, but she's putting it off because she doesn't have a lot of free time to prepare. Work with her to help make the most of every spare minute.
-[X] EIC: Lend the services of the Hochlander, and the EIC's intelligence and contacts, to Roswita to help track down the Talabeclanders buying peat from the vampires. (NEW)
-[X] ACTION 1: Current Task: Create and design an Anti-Air weapon and ask Gotri for help, but add enchantments to the bolts to make it able to target and hurt a dragon. This would be Smoke And Mirrors to teleport the bolt right next to the target after firing, then maybe Shadow Knives to deal damage,
-[X] ACTION 2: Study an artefact: Ranald's Coin
--[X] Gambler
-[X] ACTION 3: Using what you've learned of how it reacts to Runes, create new means of storing and moving the Vitae in complete safety. (NEW)
-[X] ACTION 4: Attempt to interest a prominent and knowledgeable Runesmiths in the interaction between Runes and Vitae. (will start at the top and work your way down)
-[X] PENTHOUSE: Have a tower built atop Karag Nar: -100gc for 1 room, bonus to room's purpose.
-[X] SERENITY: Queekish-Reikspiel Dictionary, including spoken Low Queekish (Half Completed)
-[X] COIN: The Gambler: Studying Ranald's Coin

Some thoughts about choices:
I chose the more boring AV research because I want to spend the gambler on the big ones, like looking at enchantment, etc.

Also, @BoneyM: Could we have a separate vote on the anti-dragon weapon, and instead just leave it as an open action here?

Very true. Coming up with a way to kill a dragon is tricky. We have talked about for much of the hiatus and did not come up with anything definite. It seems unlikely we are going to be able to now.

@picklepikkl

I'm a little worried that Runes based around accuracy might conflict with Second Portent of Amul. As an alternative, maybe something like Rune of Forging (also improves accuracy, but narratively it does so by removing all imperfections from the cannon's design, so it should play nicer with magic +accuracy effects), Rune of Penetrating, and then either Burning/Reloading of the canon runes, or maybe something original from our Runelords with anti-magic abilities, to shut down the dragon's possible shenanigans?

Final Transmutation is probably in with a shot.

Belegar's a dwarf. He should understand that sometimes you can get something done quickly or done right. And Anti-Dragon work needs to be done right.

Also it's no wonder you've not seen much. It is nearly impossible to both construct a plan and also do all the research on different spells and runes to think of a good combo in only 2 hours and once the voting starts it's a race to have something in place to stop the early voting advantage from becoming unassailable.

Basically 2 hours wasn't nearly a long enough moratorium for both a huge plan and a pure write in vote like the dragon tower inventing an anti-dragon weapon. Especially when they need to work into a single cohesive whole.

Hm. If we want to have something that could actually maybe take down a dragon, could we commission some Runed Bolt(s) along with the Bolt-throwers for special occasions, with the (Master?) Rune of Dragon Slaying (along with the Runes of, say, Striking and Cleaving) on them? There's nothing wrong with sticking some Weapon Runes on a piece of ammunition, is there?

Not really?
Final Transmutation grants no explicit save, but has only 1/6 chance of working on any multi-wound target. It's more for damaging elite infantry units than killing monsters.
1/6 is better than anything else on there apart from Pit and Dwellers, which are probably only effective against ground targets and Xereus, which only has minimal control.

I think the anti-magic runes on the cannons would definitely interfere with our ability to buff them with Second Portent of Amul.

...Actually, come to think of it, would the plan to buff gunners with Second Portent be screwed by the fact that they're dwarves?

[X] Plan: Skaven Knowledge Bomb

Everyone, since all councillors besides Mathilde are on the same task, this is an incredibly unique opportunity to influence her relations with them all for just a single AP. Can we really let this slip past? :V
For the record: Having Mathilde butt into traditionalist dwarf wrangling is the worst idea ever.
Nah, it'll be great. All we need to do is arrange for Kragg to be somewhere within eye and earshot of the KaK big shots, then walk up to him and call him Comrade again while giving him a friendly clap on the shoulder.

The sheer upheaval in their understanding of the world when we aren't instantly annihilated by sheer force of Disapproval will leave them too shaken to throw petty tantrums.

Guys, gals and nonbinary pals, now's the time to make a giant tower that animates the skeleton of whatever flies above it and has it tear itself out of their body.

10/10, would definitely work on any vertebrate.
There might be a flaw in this plan, in that it is not 100% certain that the Dragon has bones anymore. We could see right through it, after all.

Honestly? I'd prefer to spend multiple actions on the anti-dragon assignment. Get our AA done to Dwarven standards.
Are you suggesting we rein in our feline instincts and actually focus on our given task for once? Madness.:o
