[X] Both should die

-[X] Let the Sorcerer's attack play out, then finish off whoever survives.

-[X] If the attack proves not to be physical, let the Sorcerer leave, and attack the Council member alone. The documents must not make it out.

Operation stabbing in the dark 2- Stab harder and darker is a go!

Some thoughts: how do we want to handle Eshin if it turns out that Mors's awful rolls and the dragon's merely OK one means that their other heroes are in position to get away clean?

Like, the reason we decided to gun for this hero in the first place was because Eshin had a slight advantage and we wanted to turn that into a slight advantage for Mors, or even at best. But:
[State of the Battlefield, Eshin: 87.]
[State of the Battlefield, Mors: 1.]
[State of the Battlefield, Dragon: 50.]

You had estimated perhaps an hour left in this final desperate duel, but either you erred greatly or things went sideways in an incredible fashion the moment you took your eyes off the Skaven, because the remains of what looks like at least half of the Albino Stormvermin battalion are scattered throughout about a quarter of the Under-Karag, some half-eaten and some still sizzling as Eshin poisons burn their way through flesh.
Eshin > Dragon >> Mors means it's very plausible that not just a small force of survivors but a legitimate fraction of their leadership are in position to get away, assuming that they know an underground way out of Yar. After we finish this assassination what we are currently doing, do we want to try to finish off the surviving skaven, if that mean a fight against multiple Assassins and probably a Master Asssassin? Or do we let them get away and hope that it was the Sorcerer who had all of the relevant intel on his person (since he's the one handing a document over to the Council)?

Obviously stuff depends on how the assassination shapes up (I imagine Mathilde will take a quick look at this document the sorcerer was delivering), but I figured we should start thinking in terms of "how much K8P life are we willing to pay to eradicate Eshin, if Mors and Sparklebutt don't do a very convincing job".

EDIT: Because apparently people are misreading this, let me be explicit: I am talking about sending in our army, not a Mathilde solo mission.

Mthilde cant literally do everything alone. Please dont mission creep her to death. Theres still a waaagh to deal with that needs a living Mathilde.

After this assassination I am of the opinion we loot what we can and skeedaddle out of there.
Preferably we loot the Council Guy's stuff.
Sorcerer's is 2nd preference.

Mors is losing to hard for us to tilt that balance.

I never said alone, I was talking about bringing in the K8P armies to wipe out the Yar winner, like our original plan. Is that something we still want, even if it looks like Eshin survives with most of their HVT intact?

We wave goodbye with a smile on our face. This whole adventure is a pointless risk. We need to focus on what matters, fortifying for the upcoming waagghh. Let's save foolhardy adventures for a time when our death won't doom the entire Karak.

[X] Don't intervene.
- [X] Leave immediately.

I do not think armies are useful at this point unfortunately. Eshin elites are so small and so stealthy that it would be like trying to swat a fly with a warhammer.

I think this might be better for now.
The information-risk isn't seriously changed by our actions now, some few Skaven will escape and talk to the wider Under-Empire anyway, we can't seal all the holes in the ground for a while yet.

Let them kill each other, Mathilde can rest a bit and then stop a possibly million-strong Whaagh! or die trying.

... Oh God( not-Sigmar) , something terrible is about to happen.

On my computer at least, we are one threadmark away from having "The Fall" pass into the hidden portion.

WE ARE ABOUT TO FORGET ALL ABOUT VAN HAL!

Torn between just running away to fight more important battles, and mopping up loose ends.

Who? You mean Vanhalad, or whatever was the name of that vampire who ran a college?
Because my computer doesn't have any Fall on threadmarks, so my memory is pretty murky already.

Abelhelmet, I think?

You make a good point.

...that said, I really want that document that the Grey Council thinks is so valuable, so I'm not changing my vote.

Well, we need to seal up Karag Yar anyway, so there's something to be said for sending in the army after the battle's done and Eshin's still tired. If nothing else, the knowledge that Beard-Things are marching from the Under-Caldera, which means they took out the rest of Clan Mors and its breeders, will likely be enough to convince them to call it quits on Eight Peaks, particularly with the Ice Dragon still rampaging in their own base and their own losses.

Yeah, this is honestly a bit too spicy for us.

Why would we forget Frederick? His work comes up pretty regularly. Or are you talking about his great^N granddaughter Roswita? We just visited her and her wizard cats.

The other Skaven is more focused, Chamon buzzing in his mind as he analyzes the document and barks questions at the Sorcerer, but underneath that is a touch of rancid divinity. His soul bears the marks of what must be the Horned Rat, and a tendril of it is rooted deep within his mind.
Do I recall there being a specific spell/blessing that does effectively nothing except mark the target as trusted/favoured by their God?

Also @BoneyM do we know about the Mark of the Horned Rat IC?

His name was Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen, and he was number one!

That's not funny. Stop. Now. You are mocking the heroic dead. Even in fiction, that's tasteless.
If you can't make fun of people who aren't real you really can't make fun of anyone, and I'm not willing to live in such a soulless void, bereft of all humour.
