It occurs to me that we've been using Windsage a lot, and Avatar not at all. We really could have used Infiltrator for the last couple of turns, or Assassin for turns both past and future. It really seems like Avatar is going to be the new snakejuice. We'll sit on it for a decade, than use it to revolutionize something.

Also on the diplomacy thing: Don't Mat has very above average Piety, Learning and Martial. There's such a thing as treching too thin and specializing. Mat is it. She would need better diplo if you want to start a New School of Magic. Otherwise, not really. Just stay away from diplo duties and keep honing those edges. As the previous update shows, we still have a lot of ground to make up before we can reliably take on even Tier 3 threats. That was a Vamp Lord. It is still a Tier 3. It was an unnamed Vamp Lord. But at this point we have reliably entered "has Battle Wizard or eqvivialent impact when deployed in or before battle".
A shame that Infiltration isn't an iconic enough part of Mathikde's character that she would earn a trait from it..

I think that getting 25+ Intrigue is probably more important to Mathilde's progression as a Grey Wizard. Generally, if we want a Diplomacy skill, we should see if we can work on Mathilde's mind reading abilities, I think.
I wouldn't mind getting a few low hanging fruits, but Idk. Diplomacy really isn't our priority right now.
My logic is in part that diplo isn't really something you can just avoid. Especially as Mathilde gets higher up in the hierarchy, and gets more and more renowned and involved in things, she'll have to deal with politics of all stripes, from 'keeping a (hopefully growing) gaggle of wizards in line and working together/coexisting' to 'this peak has weird sentient rock people, belegar wants us to poke them and see if we can pull a We with them' to 'not making enemies among the other lord magisters once we get there', all of those things are stuff that diplo is important for. We can (and have) make up for it to some extent with other skills and subordinates, but at the end of the day i think at least Practical diplomacy is both 1. in character for mathilde to both want and acquire and 2. very useful as a fallback.

Of course, i also want more intrigue, because it is so often useful, i just think diplo should be in our 'self improvement' queue, preferably with practical diplo as a fairly high up priority to at least get a fallback option to hold us over for now. With adv. infiltration now, advanced assassination is an obvious choice, and then maybe just basic 'psychology' and 'sabotage' skills, which get us up to 25. I'd be pretty happy with that personally, and want to switch to other improvement options than intrigue at that point

I need to stop looking at your posts, your just one big spoiler. :)
*hugs* yeah, sorry, i make sure to put spoilers on them, but i suppose its harder with the inline spoilers to tell what they're about. I'll try and remember to more consistently put a line at the top a la 'more info sheet edits!'

Only one in four Dwarven births are female. Dwarf women usually join Guilds, but are expected (though not forced) to prioritize running their household and rearing children. Very few Dwarves will bear more than four children in their lifetime, so even the most dutiful women are able to invest the majority of their time in their chosen craft.

Wait. Hold it. We've got 3 males to 1 female, so every dwarf woman needs to average AT LEAST 4 children just to keep up the current population numbers, and that's before we even get into wars and simple accidents killing young women off. It's probably closer to 5. These numbers suggest the Dwarfs are headed for extinction just because they're not breeding enough... That's not good. It's panda territory even. Even the damn mostly-immortal Elves do better fertility-wise.

"A pleasure to meet you!" says the woman who was once known as Countess Gabriella von Bundebad brightly, closing the gap between you before you can react and taking your hands in hers. "I'm sure we've so much in common!" And hidden by her hands, she folds one finger over another in the sign of the Gambler, and with a tiny sliver of divine attention that leaves you feeling giddy, an always-familiar presence gives confirmation.

[X] Prince Gotri, who will seize any excuse to talk about his gyrocopters.
[X] Kragg the Grim, who you could likely convince to start gloating.
[X] Belegar
[X] Prince Kazrik, as he tries to pry a shipwright loose from Barak Varr.
[X] Anton, to see how his firearm factory is going.

I think I'd like a pretty dwarven social turn:

[X] Prince Gotri, who will seize any excuse to talk about his gyrocopters.
[X] Princess Edda, to pry for details about her illicit romance with Prince Kazrik.
[X] Prince Kazrik, as he tries to pry a shipwright loose from Barak Varr.
[X] Kragg the Grim, who you could likely convince to start gloating.
[X] Karak Kadrin, presenting them with the skull of an old enemy (but not to keep).

[X] On display in the Duckling Club.

I'd also like to see how Karak Kadrin is responding to the rift between Belegar and Thorgrim.

Additionally, what will Mathilde end up doing with her new dragon skull?

[X] Canopy bed, except skull instead of canopy.

Just approval-voting the ones I'm interested in. I don't have especially strong feelings about any of them save Kragg the Grim and the fucking Empress holy shit what.

These are all fine.

[ ] Build it into the entrance to the Penthouse.
Skulls over the entrance to your domain should be skulls of things you personally killed, imo.
[ ] Store away for some future purpose.
This is boring.

What little unused cargo space there is in the gyrocarriage is quickly filled with the administrative paperwork of the rule of Teufelheim and the education of Alkharad's disciples, but the pilots and the Hammerers take your regret that you can't also take the dragon bones very seriously and with some quick work with ropes and chains the skull of one of the long-dead beasts is lashed to the side of the gyrocarriage. The brain and eyes have long since decayed and the fangs have been removed, but what it lacks in magical utility it makes up for in aesthetics, and you're sure there'll be a craftsdwarf in Eight Peaks who could create convincing replacements for the teeth. Without the constant presence of necromancers the eyes of the townsfolk have already turned on the keep, and by the time you take off the looting has begun
We don't deserve you, sure it's just the skull instead of several long bones, talons, fangs and the skull but really you didn't have to

You're not able to bask in the news you've become known to the Emperor himself, as you've suddenly realized where you've seen this woman before. "A pleasure to meet you!" says the woman who was once known as Countess Gabriella von Bundebad brightly, closing the gap between you before you can react and taking your hands in hers. ...What. The. Fuck.

I am now able to sleep at last
but before that
I'd like to calm Roswita down before she tries to dig up Sunken Palace and hides forever.
The Empress because holy fuckity fuck
Princess Edda because she's living the story! Princess Edda Otome Protag!
hmmmm
Maybe Anton and Wilhelmina

but Make Frowniest Dwarf Ever Gloat is kinda fun.

Also, I'm disappointed that we didn't manage to see Kasmir, I hope he's okay.

Castle Drachenfels is stirring
MAAAAAAAAAAANFREEEED VON CARSTEIN! I KNEW YOU'D COME!
"Mm. Yes. Perhaps it would be better for it to remain in-house anyway. Cry havoc and all that. Give that poor girl my best, and my sympathies for the company she's about to endure."

[GREAT DEED performed.]
... oh fuck the hell yes.
WHEREAS, it is known that the Colleges of Magic are bound by the Articles of Imperial Magic, as laid down by Emperor Magnus the Pious (S·T·T·L);
WHEREAS, it is recognized that the Colleges of Magic are Empowered and Required to seek out and combat the dark forces of Necromancy throughout the Empire;
IT IS DECREED, that the Colleges of Magic are given full and complete permission to unleash any and all magics, enchantments, abilities and allies they see fit that are permitted under the Articles of Imperial Magic;
IT IS DECREED, that the aforementioned permissions explicitly include the application of the restricted powers known as Battle Magics, and those that specialize in their applications;
IT IS DECREED, that this declaration will be in effect for the entirety of the realm of Eastern Stirland, that some know as Sylvania;
IT IS DECREED, that this declaration will be in effect from this day until the last Vampire is driven from the Empire's borders.
May Sigmar have mercy on their souls.
... we just sicc'd every Wizard in the empire on Sylvania, per whoever decides to actually show up.

Between how insanely rich we're about to be and the Dwarf's inevitable indignation about a castle they blasted to pieces reassembling itself, I think Mannfred may have an even bigger problem on his hands than the 'last' Von Carstein.

Well done lads. We can at least turn that into one hell of a decoration.
Algard opens the book, and begins to scowl after skimming a few pages. "Oh fuck you, W'soran. You and your entire damned bloodline. You sure you got this one?"
Okay, our current patriarch is awesome.

No, Drachenfels is something else entirely.
warhammerfantasy.fandom.com

Castle Drachenfels

"The first recorded observations of Castle Drachenfels, the accursed house of hell, were brought to us by Oskar Lefevre and Jean-Pierre Lafontaine of the city of Quenelles in the year 184 (Imperial Calendar). Their sketches show the castle fully formed, with seven towers and high battlements...
