I do like the idea of being Court Wizard. It sounds like a nice opportunity to do a lot of different interesting things.

I also love the idea of a 25 favor greatsword called Hope. That feels like a great statement of intent about where we want to take this quest, and it continues what I see as the through line of Mathilde's character arc; changing the world she lives in for the better.

[X] Remain in Karak Eight Peaks, either in the employ of Belegar or pursuing your research.

[X] Give them away...
- [X] To the Amber College

[X] Claim the site where Ranald mugged Mork and build a shrine to Ranald there.
[X] King Belegar is allowing you to use the King's Armoury. Recover your extant study materials from Stirland and tuck them away safely in there.
[X] All this time away has made you miss your friends, and you'll be practically next door in Altdorf. Visit Anton and Wilhelmina.

I am firmly against naming anything - anything, be it item, location, or person - "Hope". It's the most cliche, boring, unimaginative, sterile, sanctimonious name/word that's ever been overused in fiction.

I am reasonably certain that most skaven do not have meaningful concentrations of warpstone in their bodies. If that was so, then the skaven population would be limited by the quantity of available warpstone because it would be basically a necessary vitamin for them to grow properly, and there's no way that their numbers are capped by something that uncommon.

That said, if you've got a lore source on this that isn't obviously insane I'd be happy to be proven wrong.
In Grey Seer, by C.L. Werner, the story's plot MacGuffin was a plague generating artifacts that turned the traces of warpstone in someone's body into... I think magical glowing maggots? Anyway, the effects were dramatically more rapid with Skaven than humans, explicitly stated to be because of the higher amounts of warpstone in the bodies of Skaven. This was demonstrated on slaves, for reference.

I'm amused by killing people with hope. But I'd rather name a shield that, to be ultra cliche.

How about "Kindness" for the sword? A wise man once said that it's best to kill your enemies with kindness.

Well, there's always Pen, that seems like a very Mathilde name.
EDIT: Oooh, here's a justification so that Kragg/Thorek doesn't declare a Grudge because we punned the name of a Great Work:
"It's called Pen, because I use it to write my messages to the enemy. In Blood." Said in her best growly voice. It'll be very fierce.

Now, stay with me for a moment: What if we drenched the eggs in snakejouci before hatching them?
Yes, I know that you don't normally want to put your reptile egs in liquid because they drown, but this is liquid magic, there's a nonzero chance with get a half-serpent, half dinosaur out of it. The chance iof that particularly outcome is close to zero, but it strictly speaking isn't zero.

This is all I want that's left.

Thanks. Clearly I should read more Warhammer novels. It's entirely possible you're right it would be unusable by any skaven, then.

Confirming whether this applies in the quest should happen naturally soon enough. If the concentrations of warpstone in a typical skaven are high enough to react with the belt, then they should ignite on touch as it burns the warpstone/dhar inside them, just like any other form of dhar in contact with Mathilde. I'm sure we'll touch a skaven or skaven corpse during one infiltration or other and the ruling will be obvious enough at that point.

I happen to like a few of the potential sword's names.

BUT, we shouldn't name a sword until it deserves it.
Any sword should really have some event to its credit before it deserves a name.

Close to zero, with the remaining outcomes probably being variations of "the eggs die horribly" and "you have created abominations against reality, roll to not get torn to shreds by cthulusaur babies."

I'm sure those odds are fine. :V

Might slightly offend Shallya.

I think I'd support the Dissaproval suggestion.
Especially if we go for a dispelling weapon.

Kragg's Dissaproval makes mages shake in fear!
Not if it's a sword.

It's normal for important weapons to get named upon creation, same as ships. It's only for run-of-the-mill weapons that you wait until they've done enough important stuff for them to be named.

[X] You've been out of touch for a while. Linger in Altdorf after you visit the College and catch up with what's been happening in the Empire.

I assumed we had to roll to not get torn to shreds no matter what came out of a Lustrian egg.

Obviously our sword could be called Luck and Pluck
Only if given to us by a handsome dwarf vampire with great hair.
