[X] Remain in Karak Eight Peaks, either in the employ of Belegar or pursuing your research.

[X] Give them away...
- [X] To the Amber College

[X] Claim the site where Ranald mugged Mork and build a shrine to Ranald there.
[X] Scout the rest of the Eight Peaks, to find out what other horrors are waiting out there.
[X] All this time away has made you miss your friends, and you'll be practically next door in Altdorf. Visit Anton and Wilhelmina.

I don't want the tavern to be unpopular. I want somewhere we can have it be popular with a nice gambling den and be right next to a Shallya temple. My Shipping demands it!

So given that we're intending to do a bunch of research in the coming turns we should absolutely look into getting some items/ rings or otherwise with bound spells from the lore of light and metal.

Specifically I'm thinking Law of Logic, Inspiration and Trial and Error.

That would cost a total of eight college favours but would give an absolutely massive boost to our abilities regarding purely academic matters, there's some very powerful synergy in doing this.

@BoneyM

What level of favour would we be looking at having with the college in the near future as a ball park estimate for planning?

@BoneyM would our Amber Wizards be interested in the eggs?

I really don't want to give away our dinosaurs.
Edit: as in keeping them, not helping us through an action.

Wild idea: enchanting a bag to make everything inside subject to Substance of Shadow, effectively making a Bag of Holding.

Ahh, but he's not a postgrad. Hasn't finished his exam yet.
Nonsense! A student is a larval form of life, which is not to be let out of the university and most certainly not fit for independent life, or - gasp! - independent research, so, an apprentice, basically. They are quite useless out of menial tasks, lack the sense of self-preservation and must be observed at all times lest they kill themselves and damage your instruments in the process, so it's for their own good that they are confined to auditoriums, really.

Postrads, however, can have some small amount of freedom, can wander a bit around the world looking for interesting places, research topics and collaboration teams and and are most useful as writing slaves, much like journeymanlings are.

And only after long and grueling trials and travails, and years of writeslavery, a postgrad is fit to take the final step in the road to true academic peerage and defend his thesis, transforming into the pinnacle of evolution - a full PhD. The wizards prefer to call them magisters, I hear.

[X] Speak with King Belegar and King Kazador about the relationships and apparent rifts between Dwarfholds.
[X] Scout the rest of the Eight Peaks, to find out what other horrors are waiting out there.
[X] Try to follow Johann, to see what he's getting up to.
[X] Though your future relationship with the spiders is still unknown, they do appear to be a new species and you do have a number of corpses available. Have Esbern and Seija help you autopsy the creatures for a paper.

Honestly the only things we can get from dorf favours that would be useful are a brace of various types of pistols for different situations and a runed greatsword.

I think Mathilde should use this opportunity to arrange for various dorfs to be sent to the big human cities to help set up night soil men/dorfs to assist in the sale of high quality nitre for gunpowder so the dorfs never run out of gunpowder for their guns/cannons.

Also there is money in that for both dorfs and men plus it makes the cities a little bit cleaner.
Saw this a bit ago, got to point out that while its beneficial for all you actually need a LOT of permissions to do this. And theres usually local interests selling the poop to tanneries unless its a province largely left to rot for decades
Take No Heed would be unreliable because there's a lot of situations where a weapon would draw attention just by being a weapon. You'd have to use actual invisibility to achieve this effect, or combine Take No Heed with Illusion to make it look like something harmless.
*Debates possible alternate forms for a greatweapon*
A large plushy?
In fact it occurs to me, that the Order of mind manipulation could very well habitually interrogate its agents or people it's considering to elevate and then make them forget, like was already done for the Skaven information.
Thats something they might do for disposable agents or agents who are unlikely to notice the discrepancy or agents who are unable to resist.
Mindhole has a saving throw.
You could pull similar things off on apprentices, but doing it with any frequency on full wizards is asking for trouble.
Additionally, Wisdom's Asps are rare, but known. Knowing how to capture them alone would be valuable for them to know, and they can just capture their own snake if they want one. (May take a while, though). Regarding the theurgy research, I'm not actually interested in doing that at all, at least for the foreseeable future. It's by far the least pressing research topic, and would probably benefit from first having a much deeper understanding of magic in general.
I'd note that capturing one is well known already. We got it from a book
Is how it managed to be both dead and alive at once that was pure luck.

I think the lightrap was never used on a wisdom's asp before, and initially was intended to, well, trap light. It was our master's idea that it could theoretically be used to trap a demon.

Started a Total war campaign as the dwarves today, my sympathy for thorgrim's position has significantly increased. Resettling the fallen holds may sound nice, but in the early game the constant waves of greenskins come from every direction, and if you spread yourself too thin by holding on to even adjacent provinces then SOMETHING is going to get captured or razed. Once that happens, you had better hope the Boss that did it sticks around long enough to be killed by you and doesn't run off to fight Settra or the Border Princes, because now you have a new grudge on them. And even if they do stick around, chasing them leaves you open again. Far better to start off by keeping the army in Silver Road, with short trips to reclaim lost treasures from fallen cities (aka, sack the only city that's one turn away in Underway travel).

I wonder, can we give journeymanlings Mathilde favor? Because Max earned some today.

[X] Make a full report on the geopolitical troubles among the Dwarven Empire, even though some of it was said to you in confidence.

Our first loyalty is to the Empire, and to the Colleges. Let's not forget that.

The Empire is shit and Belegar is a supreme bro. Of course Mathilde should stay here for mid-long term, unless there's a terrible crisis in Stirland that makes people explicitly request her presence.

My loyalties aren't divided in the slightest, short of Van Hal being resurrected by Sigmar after the latter stops being so shit.

College favours and rep > Zoo favours. Keeping them would just be dumb considering all the shit we're already got to research.

Presumably, the Ambers will study the spiders with or without us, so I'd rather pick a good mix of finishing off out extant projects and doing what we're best at.
