[X] DD on Approach the Bright College

This is the lowest chance option and everything else is above 75%. So this is the DD for me.

Soft reminder that ya'll'l'not gonna be suddenly meeting the Church of the Doomslayer, Foesmiter of the Fimir, or the Cult of the Ember Daughter, or any of that stuff. Just...to forestall that sort of thing ahead of time, hopefully. This Albion did/never/will never have Duncan and family, or all that other stuff.
Oh good, that leaves it open to exploitation! (Well, unless their background rolls have gone incredibly well/poorly.) Albion's about half the size of Hochland, and is pretty well-defended by the mists. If we could find a way to guarantee the safety of our ships through the mists, it would make a pretty excellent colony/naval base.

Stabbing With Guns: Okay, maybe you are being a bit presumptuous here. You have only just begun to learn engineering, within the past handful of years. Far less than any senior or master engineer, Anna included. But, more than once, you have seen your handgunners forced to fight at close range. Maybe they aren't able to pull a knife or blade out before the enemy is upon them. Maybe they weren't carrying one at all. An ironfist would undeniably help, but that's largely for defense, and even closer range. You could offer a point beyond that, something that they could fight with to keep the enemy just that little bit further away. Just stick a blade on the end of the gun. How hard can that be? Just mix your knowledge of blacksmithing and engineering, and just…put a stabbing portion on the gun? It's going to take some time, of course, but it's a project that you can do on your own. Your experience in ironfists should help, even, in terms of melding blade with greater masses of metal. Cost: 100. Time: 3 Years. Reward: Gun-based Stabbery/Erdolchen (Stabby bit attached to handguns). Chance of Success: 85%
I wonder if this might make Ulricans dislike guns less? Or the gunners equipped with these, at least. It implies that if an enemy closes to melee, the correct thing to do isn't to retreat and let a dedicated melee unit hold them back, but to damn well engage them in melee. A small thing, but big changes are comprised of small steps.

In melee certainly, but I still think that the fact that guns are not fired by their users own strength would still make them fundamentally opposed to the Ulrican mindset. Mind, I suspect many Ulricans In Ostland still use Guns. Not due to impiety, simply less strictly adherent to scripture.

Freddy designing a bayonet for the handguns got me thinking about what else has been or could still be invented.

For one, do most troops carry an entrenching tool on them? Perhaps a foldable one could be designed if it hasn't already.

There was mention of Samwise inventing something for cakes or pies...don't remember what, exactly.

That might be good omake material; a list of various random inventions from Ostland.

With steam and vapor engines being worked on, using them to power excavation work could be another thing to look into. Though we should probably focus on the current research options.

Well, fingers cross and all lay at the will of the RNG dice gods. Just getting some sweet Albion alcohol drinks is fine with me.

I wonder if we could convince Bright Wizards we take up to do that magical spirits idea we came up with, maybe include Jade Wizards since they have a similar spell in their lore and Gold Wizards can maybe help build distilleries, and basically make a magical created alcohol selection that would have limited production but high quality so we can sell it high.

Despite a lot of distrust for magic I'm sure there would be plenty of buyers in Old World and beyond.

On a similar note I wonder if Bright Wizards would be interested in working with Engineering School like Gold Wizards since we know from canon they can use their fire magic to forge powerful items, at least their Patriarch did.

What do people think?

Were the letters with details regarding the Reiksmarshal and Champion positions sent out?

More info might help us pick who we want to send and/or support.

I still like idea of our top Pulverizer seeing if she can try out for position of Sword of Justice to act as living wall to protect Emperor and her loud voice will make sure his orders are heard.
