Choosing to receive a benefit for yourself isn't selfishness though.I though we and Ling Qi herself wanted to move away from selfishness and be a better person, at least towards our friends ?
Helping our closest friends see through such issues seem a better fit to the fluff imo.
This, I'll just kinda bump because I agree. I'm not entirely certain they become completely irrelevant, because there might be a subtle difference on a narrative level, but I'm not sure and agree with the general premises.Just because it seems rather worth noting, we're moving entirely towards narrative combat.
The value of a reroll vs bonus dice in the long run is completely irrelevant.
What matters is immediate impact and even more importantly narrative value, in which case lie detection seems way more meaningful to me.
We get free Qi cultivation XP each week, so it would only have sat there for a month or so.We also got that last Qi point too, without having to invest the 40-odd excess SCS EXP into a partial point that would've sat there for eternity.
1)it is when the choice is between "a benefit for just yourself" and "a benefit for yourself, and the same for your friends".Choosing to receive a benefit for yourself isn't selfishness though.
Further problems with it, in terms of trying to characterize a modification to our soul as selfish or not, is that the reroll bonus only applies to people 100m away, and only our closest friends. Isn't saying that the only way to benefit from me is to be physically close to me as well as emotionally close kind of selfish? It keeps the people you love close to you for maximum benefit.
But I fundamentally disagree with even trying to characterize either one of the options as making Ling Qi a better person, or a less selfish person. This is fundamentally about Ling Qi, not about others. To say that one option is morally superior to another is to deny the meaning of the Argent Mirror. There is no "better" or "superior" option just like there is no "wrong" or "right." There is simply the choice and the confrontation of why we choose that option. And that reason simply is, not wrong or right.
How else did you imagine it ending?Oof, I really am kinda disappointed that we are essentially ending things with Han Jian like this.
Well... by that reasoning shouldn't we also discard FVM and SCS since they too were "red arts"?[X] Discard this realization
It seems shortsighted to spend a valuable domain slot on a red art.
How else did you imagine it ending?
In my mind, an amicable split with the an eye towards supporting each other in the (far) future when we might cross paths again is already a best-case outcome.
Picking a permanent part of LQ as a person just based on bonuses to a single event coming up seems kinda short sighted.
I suspect that eventually it runs out of steam and winds down; it is just that "eventually" here takes longer than a typical combat encounter. Maybe it lasts an hour, or a day.Travelers End is pretty great. I assume that we need to supply Qi to it still to keep the mists going, but I wonder if we can create several instances of mists by stopping one then making another elsewhere. If we DON'T need to supply Qi then we could litrally create mist traps all over the place which would have to be dispelled, and whilst I'm not sure if it would be able to permenantly hold some levels of Yellow, any mortal or Red who wandered in would be quite screwed. If that's the case then considering how much of a pain we could be as just an early green it makes sense why the Empire doesn't like leaving unaccounted cultivators around, when a single one with the right build could booby trap to hell and back a province. Won't be surprised if it doesn't work like that, but if it did that would be awesome, and would really fit the name of Travelers End.
SCS and FVM aren't common and can grow far beyond their roots. Argent Mirror has already reached its zenith.Well... by that reasoning shouldn't we also discard FVM and SCS since they too were "red arts"?
Or am I not understanding what you mean?
SCS and FVM aren't common and can grow far beyond their roots. Argent Mirror has already reached its zenith.
In my mind, I see it as kinda being cheap and spending your money on a run down house that'll depreciate in value extremely quickly instead of actually buying something well built and long lasting.
There no guarantee AM+ exists and I'd rather you get Yrsillar's confirmation before using an argument saying we can upgrade that domain slot.I really don't agree with this reasoning. After all there is almost certainly going to be an AM+ which will improve our current art. As our domain grows so too will the ability of the abilities AM gives it.
Ture FVM and SCS are of better quality than most everything else in our art suite, except perhaps TRF, but they both have one more level before reaching their zeniths as well so they have already nearly reached the end of their paths.SCS and FVM aren't common and can grow far beyond their roots. Argent Mirror has already reached its zenith.
