Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

I don't follow on the reasoning that forgoes both a "free" Green level minion and potentially improving it in favor of... reaching spiritual and EPC level up one week faster after the Tournament ?Iirc we are going to switch to monthly turns after the Tourney so a week saved is pretty much meaningless anyway.

Front page indicates 44/500, so it shouldn't be. Unless @yrsillar made a mistake there.
That was because we trained it with Mr '6th ranked Inner Sect Disciple', who allowed us to cultivate past the limit.
EDIT:
Liao Zhu proved a very competent tutor, and soon Ling Qi mastered the parts of Eight Phase Ceremony that had escaped her, it seemed that she needed to take a firmer hand in molding the lunar qi she absorbed, as she had been allowing too much to escape in her gentleness. The moon was ever changing, but in the moment, it held definite form. She had been treating it too much like wind or water.

She found herself stymied though, part of the techniques potential once again locked away by a will beyond her own. Liao Zhu had thankfully showed her how to continue her cultivation of the technique in that incomplete state though, so her efforts were not wasted.
Like, I assumed this was a one-off?

I thought EPC was locked until Green Appraisal?
We used to not be able to cultivate EPC when we had a moon quest, but our tutor taught us how, and then we did moon quest after. It was never shown to be locked before appraisal, and EPC1/2 were also both in early yellow. Likewise, current EPC only work in early green.

The reasoning is that I believe we are strong enough that we can have an action toward our time in the inner sect, and that the gain from a free green level minion with poor stats is unlikely to be the difference between getting in the inner sect or not.

I mean, anything can happen, but if we are meeting a monster in the eighth of finals I don't think it would help us (especially as it seems to take a combat action to assemble), and if we aren't I don't think we need it (and I am unsure it would help either).

Famous last words, though.

Actually yeah. I know which votes are likely to win, so I'll just vote for the single one I want a better chance of passing.

[X] Han Jian might not be your closest friend, but he was still one of your first, even if you've drifted apart. See if he has some free time to chat

As for why people still like Han Jian....it's just. Kind of both a nostalgic thing because I did actually vote for him in the beginning and his friendship was one that I was really disappointed we let rot. I miss my boy.

Basically, I prioritise Qi reduction rather than dice for Zhengui, so he can spam his techs safely. sure, most are 5/6qi, but the difference adds up.

I mean... at -4 QR he is pretty safe to spam. About the most consuming thing he could do is spam Ashfall/Ashfield every round, which would cost 2 and 4 Qi. He regenerates 2 Qi per turn, so he would use 4 Qi per turn net. He has 65 Qi. So he could keep up this, his most spammiest mode of spam, for 16 rounds. I think securing the death spiral by having him 1 more clash die for 16 rounds is going to matter more than what's going on in round 17.

It's a nostalgic action. His current status isn't the point.

Technically, I've been following this quest since, like week ten I think?. Didn't start voting until about ten-ish turns later.

I never really found him all that interesting. He's a nice guy, but was otherwise kinda bland.

Still, there are worse ways we could be using our time, and it serves to bookend this chapter of LQ's life, in a way.

I'm also kinda surprised how popular Han is.

He's..... Kinda irrelevant at this point.
Good guy Han did us a bunch of favors when he had no reason to think they would ever be repaid. He's also been remarkably cool to us despite the fact that his social group has disintegrated around him, in large part due to our influence.

IMO he faded away because a lot of the early "spend time with Han Jian" options were obvious conflict bait with Lanlan. Even the people who didn't like Xiulan didn't want to seek out fights with her.

[X] Stalking Horror, Hidden Senses

Might as well go for that formation stuff. Shrug.

(And not bothering with the minors because the two I want the most're clearly winning, and I don't have a decisive preference on the third.)

I'm not really sure what people want to say to Han that can't be said after the tournament. It's not like we'll never be able to see him again, and when we last spoke we seemed to have parted with the understanding that until the tournament ended we were each other's competition. The Heizui action has been put off repeatedly, and our relationship with him is likely to deteriorate further if we don't address it. I understand that people like Han, but I don't think just throwing an action at him to talk will make much if any real difference.

IDC about Heizui, tbh.

Probably never going to vote for him. !Dragon! doesn't impress me.

Besides, can you imagine sharing soulspace with Zhengui and Heizui at the same time?. They'd be fighting constantly.

They already have an adversarial type relationship, and I can easily imagine that worsening if forced to co-habitate.

Zhengui can use one full action, one instant, one response every turn as well as another full action every other turns. Ashfield cost 8 while Ashfall/boiling spray/eternal vitality cost 6. Likewise, he only regenerates 2 when he doesn't move.

Zhengui can definitely end up using 8qi/turn with the talisman set up in your current plan, and while that might not look much it adds up, especially in turns when he moves.

"Meng clan, controls the western marshes. Staunch Weilu conservatives. Former ties with the Bai, backed Sun Shao. Neutral and distant at court. Isolanist"
"Wang and Jia, smallest clans, territories in the southern hills, between the Sects. Nominally Imperial conservatives. Mining interests. Elevated by the Duchess. Loyal and supportive at court. Pushing aggressive moves against the Cloud Tribes."
"Bao clan, wealthiest of the seven, controls the northern trade cities and the routes into Celestial peaks. Imperial conservatives. Mercantile inclinations, heavy production focus. Neutral at court. Opposes further military expansion in the south."
"Luo clan, keepers of the eastern marches. Ties to Golden Fields, on the rise due to recovery in neighbors and increased trade. Nominal Weilu conservatives. Did not support the Duchess, did not oppose, found loyal. Warrior clan, large presence in military. Aggressive in general."
"Diao, rules a portion of the central region. Ambitious, but the Cai clans greatest supporters. Only count clan with active seventh realm cultivator. Young clan, heavy clashes with more conservative factions on various matters. Expansionist interests, aligned with Jia."
Do you know what time it is? I know what time it is! It's time for pointlessly extrapolating political connections from the six blurbs we received about the count houses!

First off, a sort of pseudo map to kind of give a spatial grasp of where these clans are, because getting a good sense of where they are is important for where we are going to be! North is up, South is Down, East is Right and West is Left

Bao Clan

Meng Clan Diao Clan Luo clan

Wang Clan Jia Clan

A nice little Pentagon. Now, on to the juicy stuff!

First off, starting from the top is the Bao clan. Our only interactions with this clan have probably been through Bao Qingling. Now, I don't know if Qingling is related to the count clan or if she is from an offshoot branch, a cadet branch, or some other familial relation to the Bao clan controlling the count position. However, they have 4 main things going for them: 1. they're rich, 2. Trade cities and routes to the Celestial Peaks, 3. Imperial conservatives, 4. Opposes further military expansion in the South.

Now, #3 and #4 are interesting as it gives the impression that the current Imperial sentiment is to not keep pushing south. We had that hinted at the beginning of the quest with the lack of resources being sent to the Argent Sect, but it appears that even the idea of military expansion is opposed by the current Imperial institution at the moment. This will put them in stark conflict with the Wang, Jia, and Luo Clans who are all more expansionist and aggressive than what the current conservative leanings are.

Furthermore, this will have them coming into conflict with the Diao clan who are aligned with the Jia Clan. Since the Jia Clan is pushing for more aggression against the Cloud Tribes and Bao clan is not, the Diao clan will support the Jia Clan... probably.

Which puts the Bao clan at a tricky position, court wise. They are against at least 2/6 of what the other clans want, and with the Luo Clan being aggressive and the Diao clan aligned with the Jia clan it might even be 4/6. The last Clan is isolationist and heavy Weilu supporters and so I don't think that the Bao will find much support from them. Thus, it would seem that they need to rely on 2 things to stand their ground in the court, wealth and celestial peak connections.

This also puts into light Bao's comment to us regarding Lady Cai. The more connections the Bao clan can make with Lady Cai's retinue and supporters, the more secure their precarious position becomes.

Next up is the Meng Clan, and as a reminder, here is their little blurb.
"Meng clan, controls the western marshes. Staunch Weilu conservatives. Former ties with the Bai, backed Sun Shao. Neutral and distant at court. Isolanist"
Not much to go on here honestly. Being staunch Weliu supporters they are probably going to be prideful to a fault, as well as isolationist. Concidentially Isolationist is one of their key blurbs.

For some reason, however, they have deserted their ties with the Bai and went with Sun Shao instead. For us... that might cause problems. We don't like Sun and are strongly aligned with the Bai, who probably despise the Meng right now. So we are probably going to have a rocky start with them politically. Helpfully for us, we practice the moon arts, which apparently the Weilu did and as such that might enamor the Meng enough to be open to our presence even if we aren't open to theirs.

However, they are isolationist, neutral, and distant at court so... they probably won't bother us really as long as we don't bother them. Which is probably for the best honestly.

Next is the Luo clan, and here is their specific blurb.
So, here is the Luo Clan. Interestingly, it seems that Emerald Sea is surrounded on the north and south by mountains and the east and west by marshes. Now, on to the blurbs and there possible relation to us and others... more others honestly.

First off, they are nominal Weilu conservatives, which means that they... actually get along with Meng. I mean, by its nature being a Weilu supporter means that you don't support others because you are isolationist. In that vein, it's probably less the Weilu isolationism and more their approach to laws and relations between people.

This can be specifically seen in that they are willing to trade with people outside of their clan and superiors as well as being aggressive in general, which does not mesh very well with isolationism.

Since they are aggressive in nature, they will probably support the Wang and Jia clans, who are pushing for action against the Cloud Tribes. Furthermore, their aggression is fueled by their renewed trade with the Golden Fields.

Nominally, if we wanted to trade with the Golden Fields, we would have to go through them, which means we might want to support their plans and ideas and gather them as allies, or the houses under them.

Furthermore, their lack of opposition or support for the Duchess probably leaves them one of, if not the, weakest in terms of a relationship with the Duchess. Being "found" loyal doesn't really bode well for how supportive they are of the Duchess currently.

Next is the central Count, Diao Clan.
"Diao, rules a portion of the central region. Ambitious, but the Cai clans greatest supporters. Only count clan with active seventh realm cultivator. Young clan, heavy clashes with more conservative factions on various matters. Expansionist interests, aligned with Jia."
So, Cai's greatest supporters, have the only active 7th realm cultivator out of the counts. I'll give you three guesses regarding who in this clan has received a dress from Duchess Cai. And the first two don't count.

It says that they clash with the conservative clans on various matters. This would mean the Bao, Meng, and Luo, probably. Which provides an interesting dichotomy between the Diao and the Luo clans as the Diao are aligned with the Jia and the Luo probably support the Jia's more aggressive goals. But the Luo and the Diao Clans will but heads on other issues.

They are also expansionist. Notice a theme here? In that light, they probably support Jia, which we know, as well as the Wang.

If we are going to form more ties to the Cai family, getting this clan on our side would be an excellent start. Which would probably mean supporting Cai and being expansionist ourselves.

Last, and certainly least, are the Clans Wang and Jia. I'm going to do them together because Ling Qi did them together.
"Wang and Jia, smallest clans, territories in the southern hills, between the Sects. Nominally Imperial conservatives. Mining interests. Elevated by the Duchess. Loyal and supportive at court. Pushing aggressive moves against the Cloud Tribes."
Major thing to note here is that these are the smallest, but probably closest aligned out of all the Count houses. They are the ones to deal with Cloud Tribe raids most frequently, they have mutual mining interests and both are loyal and supportive of Cai.

Being the smallest, they are going to want territory the most, especially since they have mining interests and that requires land Interestingly if any of our holdings are in the South there might be mineral rights that we could exploit. Depending on what they mine and trade with others, they might not like the Golden Fields new trade goods in minerals and gems.

So if we go and do align with them, it will probably be the both of them, as they seem to work together for the most part. However, if we have to choose one, the Jia clan is probably the strongest and with the most connections, given that the strong Diao clan is aligned with them.

All in all, the majority of the Counts of the Emerald Seas are expansionist in nature. Including the most influential Count (probably), the Diao Clan. As such, I would not be surprised if overtures are made regarding preparing for an attack on the Cloud Tribes and people start feeling us out for whether we agree on expanding into Cloud Tribe Territory.

Being expansionist is a great way to get on the good side of 4 out of 6 of the Counts but on the bad of 2 of them. Most notably the wealthiest clan and 1 of the 2 clans that we can trade the fruits of our fief through.

Things to think about I suppose.

Edit: The stupid map doesn't want to format right.
