Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

Not too surprising given her breakthrough: she has stronger spiritual powers now in the same 'body.' I think if she hits bronze, she might go back to the 'usual' pain.
I would expect it to be less pain if anything at that point. She did say the wounds would go away eventually; I expect with each stage of Spiritual+Physical she steps forward, the less brutal they will be. Of course if she pushes Spiritual before Physical, she has to suffer worsening in the interim.

FVM actively blocks people from closing to melee with us if they get Diasporon-d. It also impairs perception. PLR then forces a perception check to be allowed to target us at range. We functionally force them to be stuck at range unless they spam dispels or spend extra on AOE.

[X] Take the matter of Yan Renshu to Cai Renxiang.

I know Meizhen's stance on what should be done regarding Renshu, but I'm curious about how Cai feels about this. If we're going too far in this feud, I'm sure Cai will let us know about it.

Regarding Sixiang, I like Ling Qi's interactions with them and wouldn't mind binding them, even if it cost us a bit in qi. Even if they're not particularly combat strong, they can still help with Ling Qi's social, and Ling Qi's buffs should make them at least acceptable at combat even if they're not fantastic. I also hope Sixiang can teach Ling Qi to be less of a gloomy girl, haha.

To get ahead of the game on the "We need that qi" discussion, the biggest thing I want to point out about Sixiang is that EPC is our cultivation art.

If we bind Sixiang, we will cultivate faster faster in close to every single way.

Also, FVM7 is early green. While it is 500 successes (well, 486~ now), we can actually get 427? or so simply by training it every weeks. So... we need 60XP from EPC successes, which is very doable in two weeks. While I was going to try to either go for another art or appraisal, going closed door every weeks should let us get everything we want and FVM7.

The new format also means that reading-wise going closed door isn't that bad (Xiulan/Zhengui still had some screentime).

[X] Take the matter of Yan Renshu to Cai Renxiang.

Will consider changing my vote if consolidation becomes necessary.

This just seems like the path to causing us the least long term problems. I'm worried we'll end up fighting with Meizhen over her perceived harshness.

Cai seems to be fairly level headed.

Little surprised WEC doesn't have a cap on it's qi gain.
Just another way Ling Qi is utterly infuriating in group fights. :V
Unlike AE (which works great against AE), FSS doesn't seem like the best way to attack other FSS users.
The hunger beneath the earth mindlessly devours everything, even itself. On the other hand, you don't get rid of Winter by making it colder. :p

She wondered if it was a good thing that she could now so easily hide her disquiet to have a cheerful little celebration in Xiulan's dining room, having just witnessed what she had. Then again, her composure was hardly something to be considered, compared to Xiulan, who was back to her usual self in barely any time at all.
Considering the sheer amount of pain it must be causing her I wouldn't be surprised if Xiulan was getting automatic Resolve/Composure xp every week just from living with the pain.
...Much to her regret, getting an invitation was as simple as speaking with Cai Renxiang. Unsurprisingly, she was on the invite list, but had been too busy to attend for the most part. She strongly suspected that her liege was a little too pleased to pass off the invitation to her.
Hah. Have to admit it's going to be weird being the main social member of CRX's retinue.
"I think I might like a human binder, at least for a time," Sixiang mused. "Of course, I wouldn't really be all that useful, so who knows.

"What do you mean?" Ling Qi asked, Sixiang had the highest cultivation she had seen among disciples and their spirits.

"I am only just third realm myself, the rest was grandmother making sure I could handle trouble on my vacation," Sixiang replied. "Plus, you know, I am a muse. I don't like fighting much."
<<<<>>>>
Sixiang chuckled. "I can give you some advice if you like."

She raised an eyebrow. "I'm not sure that's a good idea.

Sixiang waved a hand dismissively. "No one will hear, besides, even if it's not as much fun, sweet talking is in my realm, gloomy girl."
"Don't call me that," Ling Qi sighed. "I'm not making any promises about following your advice, especially if it's weird."

"Of course," Sixiang replied, lips curling up into a too confident smirk.

She wasn't sure whether to be pleased or disgruntled by the end of the party. Finding out that a literally inhuman fairy was better at small talk with other people than she was stung a little bit.
Yeah, this makes Sixiang look even more attractive as a potential spirit for us, not less. We have enough qi now that binding them wouldn't significantly inhibit us combat wise, they'd give us a bonus to training music/expression based stuff, and we do get on with them pretty well.

Sixiang can also help out with the Ruan Shen situation.

[X] It's time to finish this, one way or the other, infiltrate Yan Renshu's base and break the back of his operation for good.
-[X] Invite Meizhen along

I see no particular need to talk to Cai about this. We started this before we were vassals of the Cai, we can end this without their assistance as well. And Yan Renshu certainly doesn't have the connections that would make one seek permission before going forward with a ruination plan.

However, I doubt that we can deal with Yan Renshu alone, and Meizhen helped us the first time. I say that since we started this together, we should end this together.

While Yan Renshu may be quietly cultivating and building to get into the inner sect and not worrying about us, I don't particularly want him to be in the inner sect. Irrespective of the use that Fu Xiang would have in us eliminating him from the competition, I don't want a person as resourceful and cunning as Yan Renshu getting into the inner sect when they have a grudge against us.

Yan Renshu was scary and powerful in the outer sect, I have no desire to see what he could pull off with the inner sect's resources at his disposal.

The format was never bad reading-wise. If we did more closed-door stuff we would just get a shorter update, or more focus on the minors we did do.

The actual problem with closed door remains the same - it takes time away from us being able to actually live in the present, which is something I have always opposed and will continue opposing. No closed door baring major pill weeks or emergencies that require it, ever.

[X] Let it go. Remain on guard, but leave it be.

Yeah, no. We can't really hit him that hard, because society doesn't like new nobles killing each other before they've even so much as seen the lands they are needed to steward. So with that in mind let's not be the typical Xianxia protagonist who is totally focused on revenge and getting one over opponents no matter what.

Besides which, while Yan Renshu is a bastard all indications are that he can supress his pride long enough to think. Even the notorious poison incident was something to slow Zhengui's growth down, not permenently harm him becasuse that would cause him more trouble than it would gain him. Even if he really, really doesn't like Ling Qi he is likely to take the pragmatic choice at this moment, which is focusing his remaining resources on getting into the inner sect.

And before anyone brings up 'he won't try for the inner sect, if he wanted that he could have easily done that last year'; last year he had a massive organisation backed up by a blackmail web at his beck and call, which he could use to advance himself in ease and comfort. He doesn't have that anymore, and has almost no chance of re-establishing it as most of his potential prey hate him and are aware that most of his threats are empty. For him the inner sect is his best chance for a comfortable existence, and he can plan again from there. Getting into the inner sect also means that Meizhen or anyone else has a much harder time going after him again in the way she did. Perhaps she might still get away with it, but it would cost the Bai far more politically to killer an inner sect disciple who is also a noble. Enough that it probably wouldn't be worth it.

By contrast, if we take him now we give him nothing to lose. And despite what people seem to think, even if he was stripped of all resources he would represent a dangerous threat. There is nothing more dangerous than a man with nothing to lose and we cannot protect everything we have and care about from him if he is determined that he must hurt us above all else. If we take him now we constrain ourselves for the rest of the year. A determined green cultivator can go through pretty much anyone of the people we know and care about except us and Meizhen. So we'll hvae to turtle for the rest of the year, try to keep our friend's as close as we can and always worry.

Even if he is developing an anti-Ling Qi talisman I'd rather face him later. I'm confident that we can grow enough that even with a handicap, we can take him, or at least get away from him ambushing us.

Let's not let Yan Renshu define our lives.
