[X] Continue following it. It would be good to know where this creature calls home, and whether there are more of it.
Really it's in the postYou're also bothered by a thought: if the beast is heading to Thunder Mountain instead of merely using it as a landmark to navigate by, then either the volcano is no longer under control of the Night Goblins, they've made some accord with the beasts, or Night Goblins and Dragon Ogres are locked in war with each other. Either way, this would be important information for the Expedition.
I just want to point out that we had two choices what to do and we chose the first.[ ] Volunteer to ride ahead and scout this long-lost port.
[ ] Volunteer to perform a sweep further out so you can spot any substantial forces that might be marching in your direction.
We now know (roughly) the direction the Dragon Ogre will go now.I find it somewhat odd that people were willing to follow it, but when it turns out that further following it not longer might, but now will lead to information that the expedition would want to know about, then we no longer care? That sounds a bit odd.

That's too much drama. We're highly skilled wizard: dragon ogres are nothing to sneeze at but we're good at what we do and no less powerful.
I'm not so sure when this Dragon Ogre is the basest of base in ability. It's lower than that even, no (artificial) Armor. It seems like we all have to roll and opposed roll to avoid notice every update we follow this guy, leaving our safety completely in the hands of chance.
We've avoided a brutal death twice now.
Mmm, those are exactly what a base Dragon Ogre from TT would have...except it doesn't even have light armor. It's a little underwhelming I know.[X] It's moving away from the path the Expedition will take, that makes it no longer your problem. Get back on course and head for the port.
Huh. Those stats are far lower than I thought a Dragon Ogre would have.
That means there can't be more than a handful of those and thus they are almost irrelevant on strategic scale, which is a result useful enough. My problem with doubling back is that it actually easily tells us nothing. Suppose we double back later and the Goblins are still there, but no sign of Dragon Ogres.
The stat lines disagree with you. Battle Wizards aren't a match to Dragon Ogres in combat. Mat isn't a Battle Wizards. Neither are knights, or Greatswords. That's too much drama. We're highly skilled wizard: dragon ogres are nothing to sneeze at but we're good at what we do and no less powerful.
