Alright, I'm going to try and dissect what might happen at the tournament finale, now that we know some more details of how it will be structured.
So, the way it is structured, and how many people we know are top-level competitors, it will be difficult, if not impossible, for us to be in a group without at least one top-level opponent or ally. If competitors are seeded, which I suspect they are, then we can assume that the Elders won't group 3 or 4 top combatants into a single group leaving other groups sparse.
That being said, the ideal grouping, I think for us, would be having Meizhen and us against either Ji Rong or Kang. That would mean we could crush a major competitor and deny him access to the elimination rounds before they even begun. Not going to happen, but I can dream.
Since we are likely going to only have one other major competitor in our grouping, if any at all, the next most favorable would be, in my opinion, having a major opponent rather than an ally in our group. Someone like Ji Rong, Kang, Chu Song, rather than having Cai, Bai, or Xiulan. The reasoning is simple, as a person with a ton of support capabilities, it would be better to leverage those capabilities against our foes in settings that favor us before the elimination round.
Having 3 or 4 mooks on our side as we take down a person like Ji Rong will go along way to securing our stability in the elimination round, for if we secure a mook as our second in the group stage, that mook doesn't pose nearly as much of a threat as a person of Ji Rong's caliber.
So rather than siding with an ally in the group stage, I would rather take on a strong opponent and beat them with our support arts so that we don't have to deal with them in the elimination round. Of course, that might not be the case as we could get sprung with an ally rather than an enemy.
