Six machine soldiers are sent to the island in the sky, hoping to put an end to another threat to humanity. When Bracket wakes in a freezing cavern, he is alone. But the mission must be carried out regardless, no matter what it takes.
Being a killer robot isn't easy.... being a killer robot that's lived through three apocalypses is even harder. Still at least the companies good even if a significant portion of them all inexplicably talk like they're British.
A group of AI gain consciousness only to find that they are now in charge of Seedship responsible for ensuring the survival of Human race. They must settle strange new worlds, guide their charges through the turbulent beginnings of a new civilization and perhaps uncover some secrets of the universe along the way.
The wasteland is a dangerous world, a degenerate place where you walk among the ashes of a world full of wonders. The world is full of masks, of personas that are taken on by wastelanders seeking to become more than they are. One of these masks is that of the Mechanist, a hero to some, a villain to others, the Mechanist has had one thing in common each time, a reliance on robots. You are merely the most recent to take up the mantle of the Mechanist, to fight for a cause that you find just.
You wake up with knowledge you don't remember gaining, accompanied only by your awareness that you're not human.
You're also mangled to the point of near-death, surrounded by corpses, and have no clue where you are. This can only go well.
