[X] Gift the Title: Well...your children could use some experience in the art of rulership. Gawain may be the first in line for the throne and already busy with his diplomatic posting besides, bbut you're sure one of your daughters would be able to make the most of the situation and put their skills and unique knowledge to use. Who knows, they might even learn something from the experience. Of course, there's the obvious question of who to give it to...

I like the idea of giving it to our designated Regent. Give her a bit of experience and something to do when when she doesn't have to manage the whole empire.

[X] Gift the Title: Gilda Golden-Feather

I don't think dissolution is the answer here, it needlessly disrupts the system.
Gilda is a good Steward she can do well there.
Gleaming will likely end up in the Crystal Protecterate.
And Gawain is in line for Emperor, while Gwyn is set to be in reserve for emergencies.
It gives Gilda a responsibility in the future.
with a stewardship of 11 she is not the worst steward but also not that great
the 13 diplomacy is not the best ether.

still there are worse options.

[] Duchy Dissolution
sounds like a good plan but i am not sold on it right now.

[X] Gift the Title

I am really tempted to vote "Claim the Title" just to make the imperial family the Hapsburgs in titulature length, but I'll vote for this instead. I'd rather not needlessly disrupt our stability moving forth when Gawain and his successors are going to have less solid standings amongst the nobles than Garrick since Gawain won't have the honor of having united the empire.

The best option are by far dissolution or this one, but out of thoose two I'd say that this is the best option due to the lessened burocratic chaos that it would cause in addition to still having the province under a degree of imperial rule.

An apology for the late arrival of this update doesn't really cut it. Especially seeing as how it's so short and, honestly, pretty low-quality. Truth be told, RL hasn't been too kind to me these past few weeks. Between that and my usual problems with writer's block and procrastination, it's been difficult to get my head into the writing mindset that used to let me crank out updates every week.

No worries man, take your time. So long as the story doesn't die completely most of us will probably keep on trucking

[X] Gift the Title: Gwyndlyn Golden-Feather
Our regent has good odds to outlive our entire line - she needs practical experience.

A thought? If Genevieve married, could her husband claim the title? Not suggesting a course of action, just bouncing the idea into the ring here.

To all those voting for dissolution, may I present another option? One that doesn't carry with it the administrative problems of splitting the duchy up into many taxable entities while at the same time avoiding nepotism and bickering nobles?

Then here's my plan for a democracy trial run. Let's face it, we ennobled someone once because he gave Pearl a piggyback ride. There's no way anyone can complain about us ennobling someone of the peoples' choosing.

[X] A Truly Strange Idea
-[X] Let the people decide. Allow the people of Wingbardy to choose from amongst themselves a new duke. After all, who better to manage Wingbardy than a fellow Wingbardian? The people of the duchy will have one month to nominate themselves for the position and collect at least 100 signatures of people backing them. Once that time period is up, those who collected enough signatures will have a year to drum up support for themselves among the people. At the end of that year, a holiday will be declared. On that day, any Wingbardian who is of age will be encouraged to go to their nearest post office and vote for the candidates they believe would make the best ruler. The candidate with the most votes will be made Grand Duke, being ennobled if they are of common birth.

As much as I want to let the people decide, I really want to have our dragon daughter something to fall back upon when not running the empire as regent. She can show by example how the empire will be run under her by starting with the dukedom. As time goes on, people will witness and get used to how she runs things, therefore making it all the more easier to slip in as regent when no heir is available. Because dragons live for such a looong time, there's no doubt that opposition will fade with the passing of time, making it become the actual norm.
