If we want to sabotage, why don't we attack their food supply? No army can go with empty stomach and will cause people to riot.
So basically sabotage their wartime logistics?
might encourage them to invade Wingbardy if they start running low on food since Wingbardy has a lot of food and not a lot of solders.
I think the idea was that the supply lines are sabotaged so they will have problems supplying an offensive war. They are going to pillage parts of Wingbardy anyway at that point.

I think what we should try to do is if we have substantial evidence of what King blowhard is doing with the less then desirables getting the right to loot rape and pillage expose him and try to use that to form a defensive alliance with wingbardy against him all the while bumping up are quality and quantity of our army.

I suggest spreading rumors that our enemy's funds have dipped so low he's actually rather in debt and he intends to make it up by sacking a few Feathersian towns with his marauding forces before he focuses on crushing us. Noting how he's hired criminals and bandits used to raiding them and not us, though that's probably rubbish it's spooky enough to catch on.

And among his mercenary forces try to encourage dissent to take what they can and flee, spreading rumors of our weaponry being far more effective than it is and such. Claim that he's relying on them dying out enough that he can pay the rest with what they get from the battlefield and so on.

I meant more along the lines that Wingbardy would become the focus of the war just so they could get food to continue the fight instead of Aquileia blowing though them just to take a swing at us.

Thinking about it though, Wingbardy has a snowball's chance in hell if they had to fight Aquileia so Aquileia might be able to pass freely through Wingbardy by threatening them with invasion if they don't let Aquileia's armies march through unchallenged because even if we do step in to aid Wingbardy the war would still be fought in their territory leaving them in ruins. So just by letting Aquileia through the fighting would instead happen in our boarders.

Ugh on one claw it was a crit but on the other claw it's not something that would be public knowledge but if King Brochard was willing to offer pardons to criminals he may make offers to dissatisfied or looking out for Wingbardy nobles so as much as I like to start to sabotage the war effort I think we should see whats going on in Wingbardy.

The problem with that is that Brochard is a terrible diplomat who only really deals in threats. Yes, he can crush them and it would be a smart plan to survive... if we weren't just as powerful a threat and they know it.

If you are in Wingbardy's situation and get the threat to let them through or be destroyed you have to run a calculus. If you say yes you don't get hurt immediately, but you are for all intentions and purposes picking his side in the war by doing so. They know we wouldn't forgive them for that after all and are just as capable of devastating their lands on our side the moment we hear of the choice. So then you think of the alternative, say no, get your lands devastated in the fighting and back us instead. Who is the better ruler to risk your survival and try to help win on based on what you see? Brochard who is currently taxing his own people to hell to support his war and is generally an ass in diplomacy or Garrick who helped you in the past and appears to be a far more light-handed ruler? We put a lot of effort in good relations with Wingbardy and I expect them to pay off.

Plus remember that they have troops too, not enough to stand up to Brochard but troops that can join the other side, knows the terrain and tip the balance in our favor.

I understand where you are coming from, maybe it has something to do with Griffon biology?

Here's a video discussing this. Angels seem similar enough to Griffons from MLP. Though against ground based target it's a fletchette.

Seems like a spear is the best for hands. Also maybe extra weapon attachment for the lion feet.

The spear is a better weapon in everyway that matters. Swords are not a weapon that is good for regular forces. The spear is easier to train someone to use, much cheaper to make, and longer reach. Swords need hands as much as if not more than a spear.

Maybe its a cultural thing, I remember a story where griffins didn't use their claws as it was seen as taboo due to discord discording griffins into mindless monsters where they just attacked everyone around them with their claws, thus leading to everyone seeing anyone using their claws as being discorded and thus a monster to be killed to protect themselves. as this is just after discords defeat, that memory could be fresh in their minds.

It could also be because if they were fighting creatures made by discord they don't want to get its blood on them, either due to a corruptible effect or the fact it may have acid for blood. You can never tell with discord

This carried on into the future leading to griffins not using them. kind of the same as ponies not eating grass off the ground, its just not done.

Swords are worse for doing all of that. A spear would be more effective and safer than a sword.

So we could try to tell everyone about it but that means there's a chance people won't believe us and could hurt our relationship.

I wasn't really planning on actually causing a widespread rebellion, I was more thinking of maybe supporting dissidents if the opportunity presents itself and just making sure we know what's what for now.
It's because I'm getting the impression that you guys think we are already at war, while we really aren't. Even if war is inevitable (and I don't think it is...) then we still don't want to make any aggressive moves.

Somewhat increasing our army size or quality seems fine, there is a neighbouring force amassing, but actually making big moves seems premature. I don't want to be the aggressor here. Honestly, I think we'd be better of for now if we could avoid war for at least some more time.

Gods know we'd be fine without war, our allies would be fine, the league would be fine as well. It's only the nation currently posturing that would lose something by not going to war (the patience of the peasants.)

While I agree with you on the don't be the aggressor part I have to disagree with war not being inevitable he's massing mercenaries which is draining his coffers he wouldn't be doing that if he wasn't getting ready for war. We need to be ready while he may not outnumber us by much it's still several thousand more than us even if it is lower quality troops.

So, considering that the growth of the dragons is quite slow, I would dare to say that we would have to wait until Garrick's grandson (or great-grandson) to have a dragon of this size
And how long would we have to wait for THIS? (Or is it an exceptionally large dragon?)
That also brings me to another question, what is the life expectancy of the gryphs?

It depends on whether you want a dragon that reaches a great size naturally or through greed growth. Either way it will take time, but the former will take longer than the latter. Though the latter option runs the risk of a rampaging beast a-la Godzilla.

As for the average life expectancy of a Griffon...well it depends on several factors, but a healthy Griffon that eats a good diet and remains active can expect to live into their late eighties to mid-nineties before Old Age takes them.
