hmm just got to the part where we have anti magic metal.....which was I believe first seen in the fic the assassination of twilight sparkle where said metal is the only thing that can kill an alicorn
Not seen any fanfictions or any but 5-7 episodes of the show. I have only seen EaW as well as some of the fanworks on Youtube, so I will probably miss a lot of references like that.

I think i remember that one, though I'm not sure if i've actually read it or just skimmed it. Didn't Celestia go mad and full vengeance against the killers?
It's probably a coincidence though. Anti-magic metal is a pretty common trope, as is Oricalchum.

Never tried EaW, though i really don't have the patience for most strategy games, and Paradox's ones tend to be more complex than most. All the different values/statistics/resources/units to keep track off.. I remember trying Stellaris, and giving up after about an hour ot two..
As a fan of the show i can say that, while you DO lose a few references (and there are even a few to comic chapters, not only to the cartoon), it's nothing really essential. It's usually mentioned by other posters anyway, like Sombra's past or the author of the Sendak Manuscript.
It still kinda makes me want to restart reading the comics, as i stopped somewhere halfway.. Someone mentioned Discord's girlfriend before, and i'm kinda curious what kind of character she is.
honestly some fanfics are better than many episodes, same for some fan-made songs on youtube. (and of course, as Sturgeon's Law teaches, there is also a lot of crap)
Here are a couple songs about changelings, just because! Maybe This will convince Questor to make them finally appear? I want my Changelings (hopefully not the colorfull version!)! (Of course the Changelings have probably already infiltrated us,so they have no need to show themselves...)
And there are some pretty funny mlp-analystists/reviewers on youtube, Silver Quill is probably the best one (and the only one of which i've watched EVERYTHING). Sometime i liked his videos more than the episodes they review .
The cartoon itself is good, but the truly amazing thing is all the fan-made content around it!
A bit strange to think in a couple of months it will actually be over. Wonder if gen 5 will be any good...
...why not. For the questers who didn't watch the show and are curious about this Discord fellow, here is Him singing a song from the show!
Backstory: He's redeemed (more or less), and he's faking being sick to get attention and as a prank to his more-or-less friends. Won't you give him a glass of water ?
It's obvious to most people that Questor is actually writing an autobiography with this quest, and was merely taking time off from ruling his empire on the other side of the portal to write quests on SV.
He's probably gone back to his Empire to take care of some urgent business.
Plus he nows gets to show off how great his the Neighponese Empire is by portraying them as our best bud!
He couldn't find an avatar that even begins to capture a dragon's magnificence and/or he thought that a griffon was more fitting seeing as our world is as magicless as the griffons.

erm I could be wrong but I think starswhirl and tia began experimenting on them in the comics which led to an mirror mirror type universe in one of them but sadly idw cant make up their minds when it comes to canon I mean in one storyline in the comics we get our first look of the pony of shadows where he made his first canon appearance not in the tv show as people and the fans originally thought

you didn't know? it was the first thing i thought about!
Though it seemed to be more of a rock than a metal, so they probably didn't process it, just carved a throne out of a rich vein/oricalchum-rich rock.
Maybe they actually carved the hive out of a mine of oricalchum, and then they adapted/changed to have their magic work in its presence.
The truly interesting thing is that, while somehow Changeling magic was not affected, DISCORD'S WAS!
Also in a recent episode they mention shards of the (at that point, destroyed) throne being used by Starswirl the Bearded for some kind of enchantment capable of blocking teleportation and/or creating an anti-magic field, not sure which of the two.
I think that is because both effects are all about taking. Changeling magic is all about taking and absorbing while the metal is ALSO all about that stuff. It would be like sticking two equally powerful vacuum cleaner hoses onto each other. They would stick but could still slide around a bit and allowing some suction to get through, possibly focused by the smaller outlet (but lacking the ability to suck up big stuff like the changeling magic).
Other being's magic are like water or air and get sucked into the metal.

Hmmm, It seems this metal is going to be very very valuable.
I see ideas of small squads of armor made of that metal, being the elite of the elite acting as the royal families personal guard and having a set made for the chapter master of each of the knightly orders.
It would be designed to act as anti magic soldiers, protectors against teleportation assassins, and more.
Also picture a cohort of defensive soldiers carrying large shields coated with a layer of this metal, each acting as a walking barrier against magic. It would be THE anti mage weapon as a group of them could feasibly shield an army's charge from any enemy mage allowing our soldiers to get close and take the fight to the enemy.
If we REALLY want to be brutal make cannon balls out of metal with a VERY tiny amount of the metal in it in order to make it slightly more damaging to magical barriers and make it harder to catch with magical TK.
EDIT: Found a song for if celestia is the one to turn evil and become daybreaker.
Basically Luna sees her falling and the madness celestia is beginning to enact and decides to take a stand before her sister can fully fall.
So anyone thinks that Changling hive is already there, or do you think that's a future event?
I'm also curious to hear your thoughts on whether we should try to bring the Yaks into our "federation" (I would argue that considering the Crystal Protectorate and to risk overreach, perhaps some of our provinces) we are a Federal state as opposed to a Unitary state) as a protectorate or something similar.
A Federal state or Federation is (at least in human society) a union of sub-national governments that share powers with the central/national government as equal actors that normally have a shared set of supreme rules aka (a written constitution) where the consent of both (or more depending on how many sub-national governments are involved) is needed to make amendments/changes to the constitution.
As far as I am aware we do not have a constitution, we seem to be following enlighten absolutism (at the national level at least) right now where a (hopefully) enlightened ruler makes all the decisions due to *insert reason that monarch has divine/quasi-divine right to rule bloodline processed by SV*, with unique deals made with each sub-national government who have varying systems of rule and self-rule.
A Unitary state, on the other hand, the central government has all the power and can create and disband administrative divisions (sub-national units) whenever and where ever they see fit, as well as being able to delegate what powers these divisions have.
Here are the definitions of Feral and Unitary states in case I explained this inadequately:
Have it be like the For The Hive series perhaps? Where changelings are the result of alchemy and magic gone horribly right rather than being a specific species.
That being said, been reading a D&D quest here on SV and am rather wishing I could actually knuckle down to get things done... Because being an adventurer at the close of the Age of Chaos sounds really dangerous and really cool.
Well, considering they were kicked out of their first nest and their original Queen killed by Luna and Celestia after they tried to invade Equestaria forcing them to move into an area once known as (Forgive me it has been a while since I read that specific comic) "Kissy Lovey Land" or something along those lines.
As for their origins here is what the Wiki says
It is also revealed that the original changelings were born from a carnivorous plant that grew from a rotten acorn that fell into a magic pond under a cemetery. They were inadvertently released by Star Swirl the Bearded, who nailed a warning sign to the plant to keep others away, only to create a crack from which the changelings emerged. At the end of the issue, the changelings escape from imprisonment together with Chrysalis.
