The best course of action I see is to build the biggest navy we can afford, ask the Quilin to help us sack Libertalia. Then we turn that island into our (an the Quilin's) port of call, from which we'll use our united navies to conduct a blitzkrieg on their coastal territories.

???
If Maretonia is just south of the Crystal empire shouldn't they have been fighting Sorahan knock off?

Sombra had to consolidate his rule of the Empire after Discord was defeated, and then we showed up in his territory causing him to focus on crushing us first. He was probably also worried about getting too close to whatever was strong enough to beat Discord of all beings.

I will say this, we should avoid another war at all cost lets start with diplomacy and ask them to return our people, shouldnt be to hard to tell a griffion from a pony after all.

We can't afford a major war. Not just having finished the Winter War, which, despite being an existential war was already having war fatigue. Making a point by sacking the free port is doable, but a protracted conflict before swaying our populace as to the need to conduct another war? Not a smart move.
A war to end slavery, at least from the Crystal Ponies' perspectives, and now we're just going to let other slavers go? That's the perfect way to start a riot.

We just came out of the most costly war we have ever fought the last thing we need is another war, that will start riots, besides we know nothing of this empire and its people, lets not go deus vault without atleast talking to them first.

Mostly this, and build up war support and outrage by spreading tales of the slavers to our south while we build up to an intervention. Fortunately we are not looking for an unconditional victory in this potential war, "merely" a governmental change.

That, and we need to know if our target has any alliances or defensive pacts to beware of...

They have legal slavery and treat our people as "exotic goods" that sounds drugs vult worthy to me.
and all this has come from the mouth of a pirate, thats not something im going to war over. besides were not exactly trying to go full free everyone here we have just been forced into it because sombra, were not gonna go declare war on ever slave having empire without reason.

War us probably off the table, but making a statement to em and getting our people back should be fine. I doubt theyd want to be associated with pirates, and if we only go after pirates... That, and seems we'll be doing convoys.

Griffonia will rule the waves!

Forget about attacking the Kingdom not only is it not going to get our people back we need to give our people peace another war is the last thing we need or should want. What we should do is increase the navy and prepare a joint task force to take out the pirate haven and have the Neigpon take control of it. It gives them a new colony relatively close by and extends our supply lines to deal with anything the new Kingdom tries.

Verse the anti-war protests if we get into another war right now?
I mean, if we can find a way to end their slavery without starting a war, that would be cool, but tolerating it just won't work, and wouldn't be in Character.

Time for a bit of gunboat diplomacy with these pirates and slavers! If gold and steel is their law, well, we have plenty of steel.
Let's build up our navy with some carracks, so that Neighpon aren't the only ones doing work.
Also, start up propaganda on these slaving kidnappers to rally our people!

Alright but I'm still voting on burning the pirate haven to the ground.

Were not going to war if the keep slavery thats there deal and we have no reason to intervene, now should they try to enslave our people and refuse to give them back then yes that is a valid reason.

We need make it clear to all parties that all diplomatic channels have been exhausted in regards to getting our demands met. When that inevitably fails? Well, that is when we play Preußens Gloria. Our people are our highest priority. I'm not against provoking a war on this insult alone. Dismantling that institution makes it even more tempting.

I'm now starting to think we desperately need to explore to the southwest, just so we know what all our borders are. However it now looks like we now have to spend time building up a military alliance with Neighpon, focusing on naval assets, along with building fortifcations across the.... ehh... let's say Beryl Mountains on the southern Crystal Empire border.

Although I'm loathe to suggest it, maybe some pre-emptive gunboat diplomacy might help, to who I'm not sure. On the one hand we need Maretonia official relations, and on the other scaring the hell out of the pirates of Libertalia might be worthwhile.

EDIT: We do need to explore Maretonia, since t hey seem to have active merchants they might know who or what their neighbors are to the West and south.

Trying to force a sovereign Kingdom that we know nothing about to change because we don't like them is a very stupid and shortsighted move. Not only could they have allies but insulting them like that is more than enough to start a war. A war which will ravage the Crystal Empire's lands that are barely being restored. It will only hurt us in the end. Especially since they are not the ones raiding our ships that is the pirates who no one would care about if we killed off. The pirates are the ones we should focus on and leave the new Kingdom for later.

The pirates are the reason our people are now slaves and our goods are being stolen we should burn their island to ashes and give it to the neighpon to control then turn our attention to establishing diplomatic relations with our new empire to the south and see if they are reasonable enough to give us our people back. from there we shall see where it goes.

Cracking down on Libertalia and showing off our military could aid in cowing Maretonia, to get our citizens back. We just need a navy.

We don't, of course, have to go straight for the attack--except against the pirates--but it would be best to at least start preparing, if for no other reason than that slave states are always hungering for more fodder, and our Protectorate shares a border with them.
