Changelings could easily gain a lot of love from our people if they helped us. We can only hope they're here and that they will choose wisely.

Never watched g1 so I don't know if Grogar's help would be worth it. I only know he should be a villain/ram necromancer.

Well, dogs didn't have their own kingdom so they probably don't care. Until we actually GET these other races it's not worth worrying too much about it.

If anything, I suspect that any name change would be a shortening of the name from the Empire of Gryphus, to simply The Empire.

I agree with this, unless somthing radical happens the name seems like it should be the same.

Honestly it would probably shorten to Gryphus if it does get shortened due there being other empires.

You know I'm not sure can other changelings use magic they all have horns but only the queen has ever used magic in any way other then shape shifting?

The thing with Spain and Britain is there name changes werent going from one empire title to another they went from a kingdom to an empire which allows for a name change we are already an empire meaning we stick with our name. we have no reason to change it. We are and always will be the Empire of Gryphus and no amount of people we take in will warrent a change from it.

Kingdom and empire are arbitrary anyway, alongside the fact that neither case was Kingdom to empire. The British got Imperium by taking over India, the Spanish by their colonial holdings.

Either way are name isnt changing and i see no reason why people want to change it, its the one we started and no one in our empire even cares so why fix something that aint broke.

Hold up, imma be a renegade change the whole game

Anyway, regarding the empire change, I don't really see why. It's not like gryphus is super exclusionary or specific and even if it was we are not any form of democracy. The only logical empire name change is to something like the Golden-Feather Empire since, y'know, the Golden-Feather family are the autocrats and, hopefully, eventually going to become the god monarchs of the empire eventually someday hopefully before we piss the wrong deity off and get murderized.

Actually, I propose Golden-Feather Empire and that our flag should be gold and purple on black a pile of coins with a lone feather on top while our battle standard should definatly be a black flag with two crossing feathers below a pile of coins.
 
Arent we getting a lot of prestige and legitimacy by being the old griffin empire reformed? Changing the name and flag could very well hurt that.

Eh, not so sure about that. All we know is that the Crystal Empire was sealed for centuries before appearing again. Who is to say that was the entire Crystal Empire?

I find it more likely that because of his mind control, Celestia and Luna had to keep breaking it smaller and smaller since the people would not give up. So it was an Empire, but the capital was all that was left when the Alicorn Sisters were done with it.

Same thing here, no reason it has to be only one city.

Personally my interpretation is he only has the one large city and the surrounding area making it more a small kingdom in anything relative to size... but Sombra changing the name to crystal empire when he took over out or a, not unjustified, assumption he was about to start conquering an area worth of the name and still might if we don't stop him.

Of course that is just my head canon.

That's kind of horrifying since it implies a scale of warfare similar to WW1 + Napoleonic Wars.

I would argue that you call something what historians write down, especially Twilight Sparkle scholar extraordinaire. If the historians of the day write down Crytsal Empire its an empire for the next generations. Any historian probably would have a bias to make the campaign as glorious as possible and it is much more impressive to fight the crystal empire then the crystal city.

Wouldn't be the first time a leader's propaganda made an inaccurate name. Case in point the not holy, not roman, not an empire.

Again all head canon though so it doesn't really matter too much, agree to disagree.

I dont particularly care what our empire is named, but that seems a good one.

Was in the shower and had a funny thought, solely for the sake of a dumb pun. I was just letting my mind wander and the thought "an empire cast in steel" came to mind, which made me laugh cause...

All seemed lost. The cold winter came, and with it, came the signs of our coming doom. An army, like nothing we had ever seen, was marching. Without faltering, without emotion, they marched in step with the cold.

Our demise seemed cast in stone.

But, we responded. With our blood, our hopes, fears and dreams. We responded with a cry cast in steel.

We are an empire cast in steel.

This, would turn into the cast-steel empire. Which would portmanteau into casteel. Or, Castile.

Yeah, the dumb puns~~
