Plot armor wouldnt had been there if it was a real invasion, for starters, she shouldnt had teleported Twilight to the same spot as Cadence.

Small flaw as her army pretty much conquered the city, it was pretty much plot armor of love and friendship that had beaten her both times.

So people are talking about the Changelings as a Big Threat.. and while they are if they are hostile because their shape shifting is frankly bullshit.. I'm worried about Tartarus. We have no idea if that place was around pre-discord in Canon, we have no idea if that place is near us, and we have no idea what the hell is in it.

It is around we just have no idea where it is. As for what is in it monsters and daemons right now.
Considering that the gate to Tartarus is in Equestria (at least the main gate, in Greek Mythology it had several - Orpheus did not have to face Cerberus) we should be fine. I am more worried about Sombra.
Changelings are not really a threat to us - they went after Equestria in force both out of revenge (see the comics) and because it was the region most rich in love.
If we uncover them, our best bet would be to integrate them like the diamond dogs.

I would say so. If there is no major power that have a presence there we can move our people in. That was actually what I was hoping to do go in the south and west make contact with the people in that direction then colonize the area between us. That gives us a new market to export goods from the core empire and new sources of resources to improve all of our standards.

I reworked the map a little. Combined the provinces, tweaked the shape of the land masses, added some rivers, tried to make it look a little more "lifelike". Let me know what you think.

I love it. The rivers make it feel more alive and it feels bigger and more detailed. It also looks like there's a landmass on the far right of the map, judging on how the waters lighter.

Hmm, map seems to suggest a large landmass to the east considering the shallower water there. Should probably also expand west and south until we get to some easily defensible natural borders. We have some mountains right now but maybe there's a Himalaya-like mountain chain that's impassable for even fliers? Some scouting is needed.
