On the Eike subject, I'm partial to Belegar, Kazrik, and Dreng. It's three dwarves with three different mindsets of Dawi tradition.
Dreng is not a traditionalist. Dreng is an ex-Clanless ex-Ranger. If you want a traditionalist representative the closest is Edda I think.
Man, I am so tempted to vote for Cython and the We. Both would be terrible in that they aren't dwarves though, which is sad. If we had 4 choices, I would definitely be pushing for it. With the 3 we have though, maybe the We could still be a worthwhile introduction. Expand Eike's horizon, while also being a look behind the curtains on weird places Profit could be found.
@BoneyM could we ever repeat the Eike action for three different choices?
Rude towards who? The king of a nation who doesn't get to meet the heir of an old friend/colleague of ours or the eleven year old burgher heiress to a CEO position and tradecraft riches that is denied a visit to the king of the nation she's vacationing in?
"Hey, kid, I got a form of magic that doesn't have any of the compatibility issues that multiple winds do."
"Well, golly, really?"
"Yeah, yeahyeahyeah, it's even more powerful than any of the winds individually. Some small mental hurdles, but I'm sure you'll acclimate."
"What's it called then sir?"
"Dhhhh...rugs."
"Drugs?"
"Drugs, yeah."
"I dunno..."
"Well TOO LATE"
Demon throws off cloak to reveal body of pure dhar
"AH YOU TRICKED ME"
"I honestly don't know what you were expecting! HAHAHAHA-"
Joking aside, the Lore of Tzeentch is most likely the Lore most capable of interacting with all kinds of other Lores and achieve useful results that go beyond Dhar contamination.
I mean sure, but its infinitely more sinister than literally everything Horstmann has done so far.
I might be missing something. Sure, it's rude to pepper "subtle" criticisms regarding your colleagues into normal business meetings with outsiders and thereby airing your Order's dirty laundry, but you seem to have read something far more concerning into it. Care to enlighten me?
I get where you are coming from but on the other hand are we really here for her to have fun. This was sold to her guardian as a means to learn about dwarfs, no more and no less.
It could be argued that Eike has far too little fun in her education. At least from what we've seen.
If we don't tell anyone about it, what's the harm in trying the magic more? We've kept secrets since the beginning of this quest, what's one more going to do to us.
Mostly that it has lot its value. This method is very unlikely to be more powerful than normal spell casting. And if we want to go for power while ignoring legality then we're better off recreating the Lore of Stealth or some other Dhar hybrid than sticking to weak half measures.
otherwise all she will get from it is 'dwarfs are hard to work with.'
That alone is valuable, as long as it doesn't become "Dwarves are not worth working with".
Regaring the experience i found it very enlightening. Very interesting
Its like a manipulating metal with glove of magnetic iron where any attempt to hold it would see it pushed away, but slightly wrong and the metal will flip and attached itself to your metal glove and its game over (Dhar).
Its a lot like manipulating magnet yes?
What if.. the amount of wind can be precisely manipulated? And using precisely tuned method we can make the metal float?
I dont think any mortal can do it, but perhaps... an engine can. A runic engine that the dwafs might create to manipulate winds.
Not Dhar, but could it be a way yo push other wind (there must be some sort of safety feature to prevent the wind from touching) and manipulate it so it can be usefull for something.
Perhaps even harmonize them..
Anyway this might be even more difficult then waystone
You forget that both the gloves and the metal object are also partially alive and rebellious.
How much political goodwill it takes to get a sanctioned negotation meeting with Ex Matriarch Lady Magister in what is sure to create a tussle in Light College hierarchy, weighted against how useful the project is.
So Kurtis knows about all the issues here? Just how loud of a whiner is Egrimm?
The Light College wanted to know that this was a valuable project to be putting Egrimm on it.
Why from Kurtis as a middle man though? I know it's part of his job, but we didn't need him when we were recruiting for Karak Dum, did we?
Because he is the guy incharge of intercollegiate negotiations: such as hiring a light wizard for a secret project.
Hmm. So will we have to rely on him for all recruitment attempts to WEB-MAT that don't involve people we already have a personal relation with? Should we have a few social turn interactions with him before tackling the Jade College?
My objection there is that Edda is rather similar to someone Eike already knows well and spends a lot of time around. Namely, Wilhelmina.
Outside of a talent for logistics those two are nothing alike.
