Well then.

Theoretically, if she isn't Grey or Amethyst aligned, she could still inherit, I believe. Practically, I doubt that would go over at all well in Stirland.
Still, it does mean we'd need to take a hands off approach to h-

Wait.

We know Gold order Magisters

Gold Order Magisters who work with Dwarves.

We can literally hand it off to Max or Johan. Preferably Johan, max is too much of a neeeeerd

As demonstrated by Mathilde herself, it's not against the law for wizards to own stakes in companies. Though having a company where the majority of stockholders are wizards would be interesting.
The gold college definitely has company's that only they own, so it's not unknown. Though it is unknown in Stirland.

On Eike joining the Grey Order: I doubt the Greys would want Eike, they prefer orphans without connections and abhor heirs to Burghers.

No, but Eike is about to be whisked off to Altdorf for a decade or more instead of learning finance.
It's also not against the law for apprentices to study other stuff in addition to magic, like finances. It would be an interesting arrangement and probably pretty hard on Eike and Wilhelmina both, but it's not impossible, especially considering Wilhelmina already has connections in the wizard community.

The first years of training has to be in a mono-wind environment in Altdorf.

We could, technically, create one in K8P, but it'd be an awful lot of trouble and commitment for us.

EDIT: Arguments of "She should meet Edda in order to get some contrast" have been persuasive.
My objection there is that Edda is rather similar to someone Eike already knows well and spends a lot of time around. Namely, Wilhelmina.
Whelp. It's not impossible for her to not go to Altdorf and all, but that means expensive tutoring and stuff. But, well, what would Eike choose? Does she even get a choice? And it's not like, say, being a Gold wizard would be against her own inclinations.

Honestly, the person to talk to about this is Adela, isn't it? She's the daughter of Burghers who discovered she has magic, so she can give us the inside perspective.
If we're going to let this influence our vote, the best choice is Kragg so we can get a scene where Kragg realizes what's up before Mathilde does.

But I'd rather not metagame like that.

She can decide to wear suppressors instead of learning magic, I guess. But would she?

...poor Wilhelmina, goddammit.

But yeah, unless she manifests with serious affinity for certain of the Winds, she's not barred from running the company. The real question is, do we want to recalibrate our introductions based on this OOC knowledge? I don't think we do, since it's OOC. But jeez, Ranald, way to cause problems.

I don't actually see much similarity between Edda and Wilhelmina. Edda is a dreamy romantic by dwarf standards, whom we first got to know because she was part of the romance-novel book swap on the Expedition and who is carrying on a passionate love affair out of the public eye. Wilhelmina is... hard-edged and practical and was considering marrying Anton for the sake of having a new heir to replace her shitty ones, which is about as different from the Edda/Kazrik thing as imaginable. Edda's issue is that she doesn't really get humans at all and focuses on traditional dwarf methods of creating prosperity (guild-based craftsmanship), which are things that Eike will have to learn to deal with if she takes the reins of the EIC. Which is now a substantially bigger if.

Good argument, and good points about Edda's actual personality rather than my half-remembered misinterpretation. Gah! The problem for me is that my third vote is between Edda and Belegar, and that's just a hard choice no matter what. I'll just vote for both of them for now I guess.

I don't even know why Boney bothers rolling those anymore.

I mean I do, and I find this hilarious. But also no longer surprising, given Ranald is clearly Real and has a whack sense of humour

We really, really, shouldn't. Not that it can change our plans that much.

(and I wouldn't put it past Boney to shuffle things around if he wants to)
