I was skimming when confirming the data, so let me know if there are any mistakes.

It seems like the top plans are broadly identical barring one or two actions.

The top three all recruit Max and Johann into WEB-MAT, investigate the Waaaghsoak Mushrooms with Panoramia, invite Eike to Karak Eight Peaks, investigate the possibility of manipulating one wind with another, use the Gambler to recruit Egrimm Van Horstmann into WEB-MAT, and write a paper on the daemonic concealment of Karak Vlag, and differ on one personal action.

So my predictions on reactions to WEB-MAT Recartment pitch

Max: All board the Mathy train, tu, tu!

Johann: might not actually bite, The dude likes his dungeon diving fieldwork and WEB-MAT might not have enough of it in the charter for him.

Hubert: It's nice that you remembered to included me, but come on?

Esbern and Seija: no thank you.

Egrimm van Horstmann: Yes, because if we really are going to give boney that plot on an open plate, they are going to take it.

Panoramia: not really her thing, but who knows what she might pick up after her exam (time pending)

Adela: high chance if we can sell 'you might be able to do stuff with muti-magic and engineering, low chance if not.

Gretel: honestly don't know, we kind of been forgetting her... prob no?

Kragg: Beah!

Thorek: Smaller, but more busy Beah! (might throw student at us.)

So I don't know if it has been discussed but I am excited about the idea of enchanting an item that enchants other items.
Is such a thing possible?
I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work theoretically, but there may be practical limitations.
A device that can print out petty magic enchanted items while being operated by a non-wizard would be amazing. Let alone lesser magics.
Besides printing money, the real interesting thing would be the social effects. Making minor bits of magic widespread could go a long way to fighting anti-magic bias.
When any minor noble, merchant, or even burgher can get a magic reading light, it makes magic less of a strange foreign thing and more just another fact of life.
Enchanting something requires a certain degree of intelligence/agency, which means enchanting an object to be able to enchant something requires imbuing it with some sort of mind of its own. Given the general nature of Warhammer, this generally defaults to sticking a daemon in there somehow - which is definitely against the Articles of Magic and would get Mathilde sentenced to death if caught.

There might be a workaround, based off of using an Apparition (practically identical to but legally distinct from daemons) instead, but doing so would require a bunch of AP capturing an Apparition and experimenting with what we could do with one.

An intermediary step would need to be attempting to teach an apparition to sense and use the winds, which kinda seems like the sort of thing that creates wizard-bane monstrosities that break free and rampage, just saying. Making one of those things more powerful, more capable, more intelligent as a 'first step' is the start of a plot to a resident evil game, not one I want to pay through here.

I agree, it's an action that makes more sense if the winning acronym for the branch spelt out UMBRELLA.

"Something happened here a long time ago. The folly of Men, a reminder that the Winds still hold mysteries within them, great and small, and they should never be trifled with.

"This was a mountain range once, but, as you can see, there are no more mountains. Just a valley with a single mound in the center. The fog never fades here, the sun never shines. And within the mists stalk apparitions and lost souls, all twisted by the experiment. Every single one of them, monsters. Many people have come here, seeking treasures or answers. None have returned. This place was once called the Eight Peaks. Now, locals call this...Silent Hill."

Nothing (too) wrong with playing hooky, but doing so in order to train a skill that is both not projected to be useful in the next turn and is very likely at the top of our list when it comes to vanity self-improvement seems unnecessary. If it's between that and doing our job one last time I'd rather do the latter. It's not like there is a fear that we'd never get around to it otherwise. I bet we'd even do it within the next two turns if we don't do it now.

I have strong objections to calling any self improvement 'vanity' most especially Sword mastery. It may not be relevant next turn although I'd argue we actually have no way to know that but it absolutely will be relevant in the future and given it will require at least three actions to finish it off getting one done here and now is important as we have no idea when we'll pry the next couple of AP loose to finish it off.

There's never going to be a point in the quest where we can definitely say "Mathilde will never be involved in a high stakes Melee battle" so calling it vanity is completely and utterly wrong.

Also, if you think about it, Mathilde was in two high stakes swordfights that could have killed her, despite her grandmaster level skill and runic masterpiece.
Ine of them was a couple of weeks ago, in game.
That would definitely have hammered the "There's always a bigger fish out there" point home.
Sure, i prefer the "see through a pall of darkness" flavor of force multiplication, because dying to goons at this point would be embarrassing.
Dying to someone better at swording than us otoh would at least be one for the sagas.

Valid. I misused the word. What I meant by it is a self-improvement that doesn't directly benefit any specific job or task we plan on doing in the short term and that we primarily want to round out our character sheet and to not leave low hanging fruit hanging. If it were actually useless I'd be against it more vocally.

In other words I consider the skill to be in the same category as finishing our spell book, learning a couple more languages and bringing skills that are at 2/3 or 1/2 to full. And among those I even understand if we do it first. I just don't think that it should come before time constrained / turn relevant actions in general and above putting any effort at all into our last few job months in this specific case. I would be okay with playing hooky, but not just for a generic rounding out of our skills that isn't directly related to the Waystone Project or multi-wind enchanting or our ability to recruit people.

Artifical familiars might be better solution. One that is build from ground up to be nothing but enchanter would probably work best. IT would not get real mass production but every enchanter can get one and have it work whenever they are not working* allowing around the clock work by every enchanter.

*doubt familiar and master can work at the same time. I expect interfrence if that happens.

It's worth pointing out Mathilde doesn't even have a mastery in sword fighting yet. She's skilled but a lot of that is raw martial potential.

[X] Plan Efficiency, EIC, and a Gyrocarriage

I don't believe that we have enough alternate plans yet, so here's a plan where Mathilde learns to fly her soon-to-be-built Gyrocarriage. It's important she does this to achieve maximum airborne swag. Yes, she could rely on a hired pilot instead. But that's way less cool, less reliable in an emergency, and doesn't let her fly to secret places for secret meetings secretly. Plus now's the best time to learn, since it means when she goes to pick up the Gyrocarriage she can fly it off into the sunset by herself.

[X] Plan Efficiency, EIC, and Swords
[X] Plan Efficiency, EIC, and Divine Vitae
[X] Plan Efficiency, EIC, and a Thurible
[X] Plan New Foundations
[X] Plan Slacking with Shrooms
