[X] Research Sabbatical

Bit sad there won't be a sabbatical. Murdering our backlog and attaining cosmic power would be nice.
Oh well, normal adventuring is good too.

To be honest, I don't think Heidi's goals are that great for the empire, long term.

1) Having a child emperor is disliked by the Electors because it's a glaring weakness
2) Having someone as shady as Heidi as regent for the period where there's a child emperor doesn't strike me as a good idea.
3) Having a Ranaldite emperor is good for Ranald, and he can be quite fickle sometimes.

I'm mostly okay with current top 4, so I'm just going to vote for the option I want most.

Guessing you're reading through a translator? Cool if so :)

You might want to untranslate your votes so that they get counted, use the english-language versions from the update - as is they're not being counted with the english-language ones.

No, but having a decent, or atleast not horrible, emperor kinda can be.
Andbeing bodyguard/tutor will help with that.
Not critical, but then none of these are "do this or everything gets set on fire" positions.
I agree. But Mandred specifically doesn't need to be that Emperor, and depending on his personality and talents and how he develops he may not in fact be capable of being that sort of Emperor (note: this isn't me saying that he definitely couldn't be a great Emperor, just that we can't assume he will be).
It's the difference between having an emperor and having a great emperor that I'm trying to point out. Karl Franz brought much needed unity and we have a chance to foster someone of similar importance
That requires we assume that Mandred is similarly talented and capable, which is kinda a big assumption to make. We've no indication one way or the other as to his natural talents and inclinations, and whether they're such that he'd be capable of being a Karl Franz-alike. If you want to try and mould him that way, fair enough, but whether or not it's possible depends very heavily on Mandred himself.

The Waystone project will still be there in a decade. Most of these other things are fairly time-sensitive.

My hope is that, whatever we end up doing next, we find a way to turn half-actions into research actions the way we know is possible with a Research Institute founded by Great Deed. It wouldn't make sense to found a research institute in K8P and then bugger off to Altdorf or Sylvania, but Boney did include this:
- The exact details of how a position will work will be negotiated with whoever oversees it once a decision is made, and the thread will be able to vote on what concessions are most desired.
So it might be possible to get a concession of "let me hire some wizards to help with doing magical research, both job-related stuff and personal interest stuff" and still get those awesome half-actions for research, even if we don't stay in K8P.

I can live with either - Troubleshooter to the Empire for the sake of the Ruling Dynasty and Imperial stability, or Troubleshooter to the Karaz Ankor for the sake of Belegar and the Eight Peaks and further doing what we can to aid the Karaz Ankor.

The Waystone project will still be there in a decade. Most of these other things are fairly time-sensitive.

Very much this. The Waystone project will also very likely take more than a decade depending on the scope... I am not sure whether the thread realizes we are indeed voting for a Moon-shot Research Program, and while wrangling pre-existing information and securing backers and funding is a vital part, conducting Research and executing said Research program is almost going to be an equally significant part of the Waystone Project.

He has one, possibly two, or more, gods looking down on him, his parents and smart and hardworking people, Mandred has every possiblity for greatness.
If there is any person who can be safely be said to be destined for greatness, it's our godson Mandred.
Sure it still might go completely tits up, but it's not that big of a gamble really.
