Jack of all trades, master of none.
Mathilda has no training with long-arms. She doesn't own a long-arm. The long-arm she doesn't currently have isn't enchanted. Meaning we would need to invest an absolute minimum of three actions to become a sniper. The skill and enchanting mechanics being what they are we would probably have to invest nearer to ten actions to become a good sniper.
Point. We are kind of loading her up with close-range options though. Something at range would be nice.
Edit: Mixed up expressions.

I feel like the Skaven probably suspect some rival Skaven rather than a random human.

They probably think it's some attempt to get them killed or sabotage whatever deal they had going on here too but again rival Skaven would seem far more likely.

Generally, it's a lot better to rely on non-magical options and only use active magic to do them better when really required.

The exception we've seen is enchantment, which you can perform under controlled, stress free circumstances ahead of time to create bound spells. That's why it's better to have something like an enchanted rifle rather than have to rely on magic, particularly the always dangerous battle magic.

Yes, we have lots of things to learn and not enough time to do it, but having the option to use a rifle would be very useful. Particularly as we're apparently not far from upgrading our enchanting abilities.

So I want a second opinion on my idea for the Dusk and Dawn Part 3 omake, anyone willing to hear my idea and give me their feedback?

It'd be easier to Substance of Shadow a corpse and shove it into the ground.
That's an option?

D&D spells with a similar effect always violently shunt their contents into the nearest open space when they end, specifically to prevent various kinds of telefragging and object-hiding (and unintended suicide).

I mean it's cool, but sounds like it would open a big can of worms.

D&D is in a much friendlier universe for wizards than Warhammer. :)
I remember what Boney said when someone was theorycrafting an impenetrable vault only accessible by us shadowforming, and the risks we'd run of horrible horrible death every time if we were illuminated for some reason...

Substance of Shadow is a fiendishly complex magic spell. Which means that only those who have reached the level of Magister lords or are battle wizards have the ability to use it reliably. It's meant to be really strong. A small percentage of a small percentage will ever be able to cast it reliably.
