Enter there, present ourselves as lorematers of Karak Eight Peaks and as the questions, thanks to the Protector we will be taken seriously.

We've never protected Karag Dum so I can't see how the Protector coin would work?

I'm not saying there's no way to do this, but, in my mind at least, the only way this'll work is if we sneak in, find Borek alone, and get him to vouch for us.

Which won't be easy, but he's the only one who should have any real idea of who we are.

That said, if we do investigate, we shouldn't overextend:

[x] LAST: Attempt to scout the forest at the base of the Karak
Honestly, the forest is the scariest part of this to me. It's Morghur's domain. I'd rather try to get to Karag Dum and back than go to the forest. It also has the least to learn. Trying to talk to the Kvellige isn't that bad, as we can at least run away.

[X] LAST: Attempt to infiltrate Karag Dum

People argued that going in for answers had too much of a chance of instagibbing us because of Morghur's spooky aura, so I compromised and voted to learn more about the aura before going in. We did that, so now I'm voting to go in and try and get some answers.

The massive over-caution for fear of Morghur's aura was, in retrospect, not needed. It's a double waste to not do some kind of last-minute investigation now that we know investigation of the area is actually possible without risking mutation. (Plus we really, really want to get enough of an answer that we don't feel compelled to come back here. Wrap it up enough that Mathilde, and the thread, will be willing to drop it in the future.)
We still don't know what will happen to a body if it stays in the sands. We still don't know how the beastmen are being fed, because a Karak sized herd certainly can't get by on hastily scavenged post battle scraps even if it's a daily event. We still don't know how well fortified the forest and mountain are. We do not know what sort of divinity is active here.

We also, generally speaking, do not want to come back. Ever.
As an example: we didn't need to try necromancy once to get thread to shut up about it. We need to direct all curious about it to Omegahugger so that they can grow their skeleton horde.

This is like the Blood Fountain. We'll get over it.

At this point my main priority isn't the mystery, it's that if they're not full Chaos worshipper mode, then us providing them with a connection to the rest of the forces of Order could be what saves the Karaz Ankor from having a hold full of runelore and waystone-lore decide to start actively fucking them over.

He has two auras, we learned about the least relevant of them to a magical infiltration attempt.

[X] LAST: Attempt to infiltrate Karag Dum

[X] Leave

Since it's approval voting I'm just going with the two options I want.

A connection is a two way street, and the Karaz Ankor won't connect with them any longer, as they consorted with chaos.

There is actually no world in which Karak Dum does not fall to Dhar-Wielding forces within the next five centuries.
They've been fine for the last two centuries.
Whether they're Chaos, or some divinity carving a chunk of the Wastes, or Vampires, or some unknown force, they're irredeemable. There is no "warlock" or "demonhunter" class in Warhammer Fantasy. The closest you get to "wielding the powers of the enemy against them" is magic wielding.

There is no Order faction that wields Dhar.
Nowhere in the holy book does it say you can't trick a beastie that wields Dhar into fighting the other guys that wield Dhar for you.

We have a habit of pitting our enemies (including those Dhar-using Skaven) into fighting each other instead of us, ourselves.
Then, while casting spells, we are trying to sneak through Morghur's domain. He has the power in lore to control parts of Athel Loren, which Ariel, the avatar of Isha is fighting him on. Also, these tree were quite possibly created by him as well. Taking that into consideration, it suddenly becomes even less likely that we do this successfully. Then we need to make it back.
That involves corrupting sentient trees; it's in the same general direction as making Chaos Spawn. Which as far as we can tell he isn't doing.

Its just as easy to say that if she chooses satisfying her own curiosity over the good of the expedition she doesn't deserve to be Supreme Matriarch.

Its a values judgement.

The expedition is leaving because there is Nothing They can do.

Mathilde is a Grey Wizard that is heavily specialised in Infiltration. This is literally her area of expertise and magical strength. This is perfect situation for her to excel- if she can't even play to her strengths, then what fucking good is she?

Providing the two spells which give us a good chance of making it home.
