I wonder if Protector triggered for that increased Energy Flow.

Our act defended all Dawi of the Karaz Ankor from the failing of the Runes of Valaya.
We did not cause the reduction of the Energy Flow.

They will become aware of what Mathilde has done and believe she acted selflessly.

Nowhere does it state that Mathilde has to know she protected the Karaz Ankor.
Probably too abstract for Protector, I'd guess.

That said, if Thorgrim doesn't know Mathilde as That Umgi yet, he will soon.

The question is if Borek comes back. If he does, then okay there are people to talk to. If he *doesn't* then there isn't anything we can engage with.
He won't. That was a very 'last words' sort of goodbye he gave Mathilde. "Tell the Karaz Ankor I'm sorry, and Ancestors forgive us" et al.

I still have hopes for the bugger, though.

I feel like he's expecting everyone to take Snorri's tac of "Right, that's a thing, let's leave". He won't explain any more without prompting, but if we go with calling him out he might actually do so.

If we make it clear we're sticking around for some sort of explanation he (or another from the hold) may come out. Or I suppose they might get Morghur to roar at us in warning.

I love this picture and when I think of K8P I think of this with some modifications like city in the center being much more smaller and some Mountain enterances.

Just wanted to share. I wonder wheter we can photoshop this to be closer?

Shouldn't one of the Axes of Grimnir be at Dum?

If they are loyal, yet see themselves unworthy and doomed to die, wouldn't they maybe try to give us the Axe and other relics to transport back to Karaz-a-Karak?

While turning the Landships around and building distance makes sense, it might be wise to have Mathilde on a Shadowsteed stay back and see if Dum responds to our and Borek's arrival.

Goterk found it in a cave not the Hold I think.

You know, for those worried about using magic around Morghur... we could always go around to the other side? The forest and desert take up enough space for what used to be an entire mountain range. Go back over the lip, circle around on our shadow steed, and come from literally other direction.

I don't think they are Loyal to the High King anymore. And if they saw themselves as unworthy and doomed to die, they wouldn't have taken out all the stops to survive.

And bump into Kurgans, possibly beastmen, daemons, hungry childhood homes...

So go through an active battle between Kurgan and Beastmen?

Actually not that bad an idea, if everyone's too busy to look for invisible things it might give us the chance to get a close look at them in action.

I mean, from what Boney said we would be able to see any armies unless they were on the complete other side of the mountain? Granted, we could run into other dangerous stuff as well, but I imagine Mathilde could be just as stealthy outside for an hour or two to reposition.

The reason all of this came as such a surprise that we decided to stop long range scouting, for a reason.
Going alone beyond visual distance is a good way to never come back.

[x] ACTION: Turn back
[x] THEORY: The specifics are hazy, but this is a known contingency plan that Borek is entirely aware of, but hoped hadn't been enacted. The result breaks all Dawi notions of acceptability, but Karak Dum survives in some capacity and continues to inflict attrition on every local and visiting Chaos force that want to take a swing at them, so it is considered a lesser evil by the pragmatic Karak Dum.

Making Borek talk about this is cruel. As great as this shame is, he would rather we came at him with a branding iron than have to talk about it, it's just that painful.

Our curiosity isn't worth his pain. We can tell the Karaz Ankor they tried their best. Beyond that, let's let it go.
