On a different topic.
We know the Plotter Daemons made it to the Skaven.

Any chance they got enough sacrifices for all or some of them to make it further into the steppes or the wastes?

I didn't read all of the player comments since the last chapter. Could someone explain to me the main arguments in favor of visiting the Dolgan again before we meet them with the convoy?

Also what is your opinion on the write-in to have Johann join us, be it for the Dolgan, the Yusak, or both?

(I think his armor is magic in tabletop but not magic in fluff?)
Unless he was in a WD article, the only time he was playable on tabletop was 4th edition, and he didn't have any personal magic items. And he wore light armor. So crunch is not going to help much here.

Something I don't think has been brought up- it depends strongly on exactly how the Yusak see Chaos at the moment, but if we make friendly contact, it's not impossible we could get the Goblet without theft. (It also obviously depends on if they have it, but either way, I'd like more data before we commit to anything)

1) We made the deal. It would be better if we were the face for first contact to ensure it goes the way we want rather than allowing for misunderstandings
2) Seems to me Mathilde would take whoever is most useful and available anyway. Keeping in mind raw stat isn't always as important as other factors.

[X] Attempt to make contact with the Dolgan
- These are the Kurgans Mathilde met with earlier, who agreed to sell her cattle.

[X] Attempt to make contact with the Yusak
- These are the Kurgan that live directly south of Karag Dum, who are said to have lost the favour of the Gods and may be seeking to move further south.

[X] Attempt to make contact with the Kul
- These are the most infamous of Kurgan tribes, who gave rise to Asavar Kul. They are said to live to the west of Karag Dum.

[X] Attempt to make contact with the Iron Wolves
- the Wolves since we'll be passing their territory once again, and I wonder why they have a Western sounding name which is different from the other Kurgan tribes.

Regarding stealing now vs stealing later I think the risks equal out. If we steal now theres a chance we get chaos marauders after us. If we go to Dum first theres a chance we have chaos knows what after us. Id rather do it now and have it done with. Im also in the camp of going fast aka as many Rite of Ways as realistically possible. The Dolgan will meet us and I deem the rest more important then meeting the Yusak. My take of them is they would be desperately looking into a way back into the graces of the chaos gods. What better way then to sacrifice us?

If you look his character sheet, he seem pretty suited for the job and is the only one who can keep up in speed with us.

If it comes to a fight, I expect him to be useful and he's diplomatic and crafty enough to perhaps mitigate any catastrophic interaction we might have?

Plus, it would be an occasion to touch bases during the travel.

Boney said to write it in if we wanted to bring Johann, the way I understand it default is going alone.

...the chances are very much not equal. If we go to Dum, theres a massive spread of possibilities, and most likely we'd have one group of marauders - the one already besieging Dum, after us.

We steal the Chaos Grail thing and we can expect every damned tribe to be.

@BoneyM : It occurs to me that there is an opportunity to convey the First/Second Secret of Dhar to the highest echelons of the Colleges without drawing serious suspicion to ourselves. When we took down the College of Necromancy, we first infiltrated it (and could thus very believably claim to have overheard/overseen the students attempting to form "braids/rope" of dhar); combined with the fact that we snooped on plenty of the vampire's lessons about necromancy, we can easily say that we learned these secrets from spying on the vampire's lessons and then the students attempting to put it into practice--and as for why we didn't publish until now? Well, we were worried that we'd be persecuted for letting it be known to anyone that we knew this, and debated with ourselves for a long time about publishing it in any capacity at all.

Obviously, it'd be even more top secret than the skaven language translation, but just having it as an ace up the sleeve to break out when against a powerful druuki sorcerer or, gods forbid, the return of Nagash (or some other major vampire necromancer)--not to mention the potential for using it against the skaven if they should decide to fight the Empire openly, one day. Or, hell, perhaps it could be something Runelords could use against dhar users (since they can obviously counterspell with fidelity).

Though, I apologize in advance if this has already been thought of/brought up before.

There is a vast difference between has seen someone attempt to do it once and knows it well enough to teach it which would be mightily suspicious.

Huh? No, Mathilde would have seen it attempted many times, by a multitude of people, on multiple occasions. And the vampire would have been talking about what they're trying to do and why, because that was the whole idea behind the College of Necromancy and why it was so dangerous--he was sharing the secrets freely.

And frankly, the critical aspect of the Secrets--that complex dhar usage involves carefully winding strands of dhar into a sort of "rope" where each's instability is held in check by the instability of its neighbors--is more of a general idea rather than an exact method. Once you realize that it's a house of cards held together by its careful arrangement, the realization that a simple reversing of that arrangement in one spot will bring the whole house of cards tumbling down is a logical conclusion that follows. Mathilde can even present the example she thought of--of the Grand Theogonist doing something and causing an entire army of undead to just collapse in seconds like they'd had their strings cut.

Mathilde is known to have one of the most refined Windsights in the Colleges of Magic. If we claimed we were able to glean enough details to figure out how to do it from observing someone else's attempts, they could hardly gainsay us. And it's not like we're known to be lacking in ability with spell creation, especially now that we've debuted Rite of Way.

TLDR: I could see it working, or at the very least the Grey Order being willing to humour the polite fiction and not make overt inquiries.

7. No Magister may ever study the Forbidden Lores of the Daemonic Powers, nor the unholy ways of Necromancy, nor any other sorcery or witchcraft that utilises the wicked powers of Dark Magic. Any Magister found disregarding this Article is guilty of an Abominable Act and is both Heretic and Traitor and will be put to sword and fire immediately.

Even if we try to argue that we weren't actively studying it, anyone who read the paper couldn't.

1) Wouldn't Mathilde be riding at the head of the convoy and talking to whoever comes to meet us anyway? Spending one of four actions just to do so out of sight of the convoy proper seems like a waste.
2) I would have expected BoneyM to say something along those lines back when he first clarified how that write-in vote should be written. I understand arguments in favor of not taking Johann, but thinking that he'll come if it's a good idea even if we don't vote for it seems far fetched. What about "Ask Johann if he wants to come along" as a compromise? Even though I don't think it's necessary because even with a polite request he'll follow his friend and employee and even with an informal order he'll decline if there's some seriously important reason.

Personally I can't see it working because all other things aside the timing isn't right. If we wanted to try something this tricky it should have been done immediately not 'oh I just recalled this thing I saw years ago'.

Better question, why should Mathilde trust the college with this? It´s pretty much world ending knowledge if leaked to the wrong parties and you know what they say about secrets and groups.
