Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there an in character offer for Deathfang to hunt for the expedition in exchange for extra pay? I imagine he's able to range a bit farther than the knights but I wonder about how much he can bring back.

The main problem, I think, is that without the Urmskaladrak we have much less space to store any food we buy. So we can't just buy five weeks worth of food and consider the problem solved.I only knew Gortek by reputation, but wow, the thread reaction is intense.
I think I'm betting on our resourcefulness. We've got most of our combat power intact and we will be able to hunt and trade- but I think it might be a good idea to buy five weeks worth of food on the way up, and split off a dozen cannon and a wing of Taalite knights with a wizard or three to encamp with most of it (four weeks, assuming we take a week to get to the deal and fill to capacity) so it's not at risk in the fights at Dum. Also, so if things go south and we can't make deals on the way back because everyone hates us, we're as set in advance as we can be. Prob have knights stay with food while the wagons navigate back down, hopefully should allow for enough capacity for the sprint back.

Issue at the moment is storage. Anything we get right now isn't something we can keep. If the Dolgan are good to their word, we should be fine food-wise until we reach this point again.Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there an in character offer for Deathfang to hunt for the expedition in exchange for extra pay? *ready."We were reading to charge in there and kill everything that was underdressed and beardless, but suddenly there were those heretic Slayers, and our own Slayers were cut down so quickly by them.
That sounds like something to do when we aren't at capacity with our food storage.
How many unrecovered bodies and what estimates are the Dwarven Engineers giving on how long it would take to dig them out given the tools available? The Expedition doesn't have the tools to do it quickly or the time to do it slowly. Any unrecoverable bodies will have to take their chances with the next life. Every Dwarf on the Expedition knew that was a possibility.
@BoneyM, I think this moment would have really benefited from either a) foreshadowing that this section of mountain pass would be scary dangerous to navigate, or b) giving the playerbase some kind of vote to be nervous over. When this hit, it was so sudden I had no emotional investment in the moment. This should have felt like a mini-Van Hal moment. A named character dies, a significant blow to the expedition's chances - this could have felt like a great 'all is lost' moment.
Gotrek's knowledge might be irreplaceble, but it isn't irrecoverable.
If we can't identify his exact body, we'll just have to raise all of them.
Might be rubbing salt in the wound but losing one of the wagons means we won't be getting a kickflip pistol now.

So Boney@ becuse it needs to be asked.
whats the distance between Kark Dum and the first trade camp in the orige Kingdoms along high pass? (if known?)
besuse with a 2 week limit on supplies, and the steps having way more prey for the knights then the dark lands, even a 4-5 week journey might be more managble
get to the Kingdoms, load up on food and graft donckys and houses, then come back slowly until we get in range to dich (or eat) them and sprint back home.
problmly not a good idea, but needs to be asked.
I assume it's that Gortek is dead and can't make it for us.
So, I was just wondering Boney- this was prior to the ascent? Or would this be between here and the Dolgan?Zorn Uzkul will be barren of supplies, of that I have no doubt, but after that we spend a few days winding through the northernmost expanse of the Mountains of Mourn, which by all accounts - including ones written by gyrocopter scouts this very year - have game to hunt. No Mammoth that far north, but Rhinoxen herds have been confirmed. The Knights should prove capable of preying upon them, and if not, Asarnil's charges for hunting services are preferable to starvation.
same, this is a death march. My personal take is... Well, I've been expecting something sudden and disastrous to happen since this whole thing began, so it just didn't hit me nearly as hard as it seems to have hit other people, because I never felt we were safe in our road trip to the Chaos Wastes to begin with.
