[X] Sticking close to Belegar, just in case.

Because per Boney's recent comment, Belegar is going to be in the thick of things, something something Abelhelm van Hal. If he'll let us stick close enough to resurrect him if he rolls poorly, then we should do so.

Just speaking my mind. Personally, I always felt that Abelhelm was failed much worse by men than he was by Sigmar.

I wouldn't mind that, but, the trait doesn't really read like that to me.

It reads like it's personal spite against Sigmar himself for not saving Abelhelm.
Thats also partly because of her religious beliefs. Her disdain for Sigmar reinforced her faith in Ranald, because he's up front about it, he's got your back, but luck is luck and will mess with you any time, and really he's not that strong as gods go.

Sigmar as god of the Empire, of friendship with the Dawi, of hatred of the greenskin and the undead...was seen from Mathilde's perspective to be focused on the conflicts between Man and Man, worse, between Ulricans, Sigmar's own god, to the extent that his church could deny aid to the Dawi and refuse to send help to the fight against vampires!
In the final extreme, he failed an Elector count, an inheritor of his will. He failed a sterling witch hunter in his hour of need. He failed his own priest, fighting against the undead.

Mathilde is understandably rather bitter about the whole experience...even as she, short of her being a wizard, has been doing very Sigmarite things, upholding the Empire's stability, slaying greenskins and undead, coming to the aid of the Dawi when they called. She recognizes that these are worthy things, done by worthy people.
Perhaps one day there may be a reconcilation.

Perhaps not.
Certainly not with the current leadership. The Grand Theogonist has clearly deemed playing silly buggers over political dominance when Sigmar himself sought the blessings of the other gods of the Empire more important than protecting the Empire.
Until that changes, it would be very difficult for her to look at it with any other gaze than disappointment. If OTL events proceed apace, she's only going to get even more disappointed in the decades to come.
I'm seeing a disturbing amount of overconfidence and arrogance about soloing armies because we have the seed of life.

Just remember everyone
"Remind yourself overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer."

People purposing to run into the middle of hordes of orcs need to remember this quest is played with dice, dice that can fail horrendously for us and work fantasticly for our enemies.
The leading vote is to perform opportunistic strikes though? The only bit that dives into enemy mass is the shaman assassination, where yeah, if it goes wrong extracting is going to be a little sticky.
They're all archery units, their roles in the coming battle will be mostly identical for each. It's largely a matter of who you feel they'd work best with - dwarves, humans or halflings.
Dwarves - Ironically they probably trust it more than the humans, if nothing else, because they've had no expectations and thus been pleasantly surprised to date by wizardly performance to date.
-Panoramia has pretty good fieldcraft, so she won't be impeding the Rangers stealth any. Her ability to create barriers and cover on the go also works well with the lower movement speed of the dwarves.
-Maximilian is on paper, not too different from a dwarf missile unit. Tankyish, accurate shots. However he does not appear to have significant stealth capability, should the rangers opt to stealth deploy. His ability to Enchant Item for performance would probably not be looked on favorably.

Humans - They probably wouldn't like wizarding too much, being the traditionalist, conservative Stirlanders. Still its war.
-Panoramia's fieldcraft works with their stealth. Her particularly overt magic is going to unnerve them however.
-Maximilian's magic basically gives them a sniper that can buff their missile fire. Relatively easy fit.

Halflings - Magic, whats the fuss?
-Panoramia's magic's cover is probably a fair chunk more effective when covering halfling sized units.
-Maximilian's magic basically gives them a sniper that can buff their missile fire. Relatively easy fit.

So pretty much all's fine. Can't go TOO badly.
Largely, yes. It's a staggeringly enormous force for the era, drawing from three different species. Belegar is trusting each of the leaders to make decisions themselves rather than trying to implement some sort of top-down grand strategy. The general order of battle is that Belegar and Skaroki's forces are the core, Ulthar and the halflings on one flank, Codrin and Wulfhart on the other, artillery and Kragg in the rear. You and the demigryph knights have no set place, having the mobility to make yourself useful however and wherever you best see fit.
Doctrine: Intitiative!
Traditional grand strategy just isn't going to work well here, given how much of a confused mass this force is. Nobody has the kind of martial education to make sense of it, so I assume he has a map marked:
-Dwarfs. We put them in the middle to bulldoze our way to the enemy slowly and reliably, and also so we can cover the Umgi when they inevitably mess up.

-Artillery. In the back of course. Duh.

-Kragg. Put him far, far away from where stray greenskin arrows can take out an irreplacable treasure. Also with a good view so he can smack down enemy spellcasting.

-Unreliable(read: not dwarf) archery. We put them on the flanks where they can do a lot of damage without being exposed to too much pressure. Then we put the reliable dwarf archers with them so they don't do anything too stupid.

-Dismounted Knights. These guys are like less reliable dwarfs, we put them on one flank without supervision. Even Umgi can't mess up a hammer and anvil, even if they do ride around on those beasts.

-Cavalry. You guys do whatever. You know your jobs, we don't really use any cavalry. Make yourself useful.

-Mathilde - *Scratches head* Well...everyone says you know your stuff. Go do...stuff.
No, I'm reading the whole 'magic resistance goes away if the dwarves have a wizard' thing as wargame balance and not an actual in-universe phenomenon.
Personally I read it as the dwarves voluntarily lowering spell resistances so that the wizard can support them with minor spells below battle magic.

AHHHHH! It's happening again!

Hopefully these dice will be kinder to Belegor than they were to Van Hal. And I probably just jinxed us. Oh well, at least we're probably safe. As long as we don't get killed. Or captured. Because being able to come back from death does not mean we can't be knocked unconscious or taken prisoner. And uh...greenskin or skaven prisoners don't typically have hopeful futures.

[X] Sticking close to Belegar, just in case.

...dudes, he's in the middle of a formation of elite dwarf warriors clad in full sets of runic gear, surrounded by a formation of more elite dwarf warriors.
The most likely thing to kill him is battlemagic or a surprise dragon.

I know, I was just joking. I'm not actually that worried, Van Hal died because of at least five or six failed rolls, even before he was bedridden. As long as Belegor isn't caught out alone and surrounded, he should be fine.

[X] Plan Wizard Hunter

Plan Rout the Enemy seems good, but I don't really like the idea of any of our wizards near the peasants. Honestly, the only wizard I'd trust in that group during a chaotic battle is us.

All else failing, we can be the Govibarazak once more. And we have the tools to rez our Lord this time!

On second thought, new plan
[X] Plan Linebreaker
-[X] Joining the fighting wherever it's thickest
--[X] Fighting among dwarves
-[X] [Esbern & Seija] With the Demigryph Knights
-[X] [Panoramia] With Titus' skirmishers
-[X] [Maximilian] With Titus' skirmishers
-[X] [Johann] With the Siege Engine crews

While Dread aspect is indeed great at rout provoking, our other abilities synergize to let us do far more damage than that. Specifcally, we can toss Pall onto the enemy frontline, walk through it with SoS, and effectively flank the frontline. Normally this could be trivially countered by stepping away from the pall, but you can't really do that when there's an angry dwarf in front of you. And since the frontline is right there, we don't have to worry about being rekilled if we fumble it.

Also, for approval purposes;
[X] Plan Wizard Hunter

@Zaratustra, @Prospalz and @ everyone who voted for one of the top two plans:
Is there any specific reason that you prefer Max to accompany Cordrin's human forces as opposed to one of the other two (either joining Panoramia or not)?
I feel like I can be more happy with the current tally if only I hear a couple of convincing arguments in favor of the only part that I'm currently iffy about.

I can't answer for everyone, but I want to have dispel-capable wizards on both flanks. Human archers are on one, rangers and halflings are on the other, so someone has to go to the humans. Max's magic is smaller scale, so he is less likely to be a target of some superstitious reaction from the humans. Panorama is also more fieldcraft-capable, so she synergizes better with dwarven rangers and halfling skirmishers.

Max is the gold wizard that knows how to dispell. It is Johann who does not know and Max has an issues with him that prevented us getting them to help each other out.

If we try to hunt down enemy spellcasters may well get in the way of the best antimagic unit, i.e. the Artillery. Don't go where the Artillery will shoot.

[X] Plan Highly Visible Ninja Wizard

I do worry somewhat that putting our wizard archers with the clever-at-hiding but physically super weak halflings might be a problem.

Like, if they get hit the halflings are going to melt away leaving the wizards exposed.

That's why Panoramia is perfect for them. They are a group which is in great danger if they are charged, and she has a spell to create swaths of thorns.

I think that some of the concern about camp followers and stuff like that can be avoided by them staying at the port to transport the supplies that will be coming .
We will need to set up a serious supply line to this and as i suggested before to the fort we just conquered from the tunnel we came from . This prolly will happen after we take the mountain i imagine.

Probably almost all followers of the three races should be assigned there , in the port and tunnel mostly and probably at the fort we took?
the hunters or atleast a big part of them make sense aswell for escort mission and looking at backdoor attacks to the siege.
dwarf rangers since they are worth less in siege than regular dwarf warriors , maybe like half of them or whatever.
Some dwarf non clan people make sense aswell in here to make good use of them instead of buffing numbers at the siege.
Parts of the middleland and nordland army make sense here with some knights for command roles or if wolves dont wanna do underground stuff they might deploy here instead.
Then maybe one of the demigryph orders so the supplies have heavy support available and abit easier supplied aswell.
Then halfings aswell thrown in and some mercenarys/adventures for numbers aswell if they are relibalish and have the skills?
We might send a wizard here or do stuff ourself if needed for this if we dont have anything better to do.

This is going to be important part i imagine especially since the siege should take awhile and in canon asfar i can tell was inches by inches thing with very small numbers and took like a freaking century but wasnt fully succesful i think. The canon expedition was adventures and belegors clan more or less ,our hope is that we have enough numbers and loot to cut down on this but this isnt 100% thing.

Altough if the armory has a greatsword rune weapon for some reason (maybe it was a commision that never got sent thanks to siege or a experiment not "fit" for dwarfs) then we should ask for that even if its temporary and we might be able to earn it in the end. Or even if they are willing to give us a axe of any kind would be worth it to seal one of the last holes in our insane kit more or less. Having a insane axe is a great reason to do the axe training.

@BoneyM, sorry if it was already answered, but how hard it is to upgrade our robes to our current magic level? Is it "enchantment already there, just need to pour more power" and thus pretty easy and fast or is it more like "enchantments are not upgadeable, you need to make new robes" or something in-between? It is just my OCD streak hates to cast AA each combat when we already have AA. It is like a melee druid/cleric in PF who has belt of strength+2 and still casts bull's strength if he has time, because spell is +4. In both cases improvement is a measurable and needed thing, but seems like such a waste of time and/or resources to cast.

New robes, another month. Not worth it in my opinion.
