I personally think people are underestimating what Mathilde could accomplish against a single dragon ogre.

That said, I don't think it would be a good idea to attack it. We're here to scout, and it's just smart to take advantage of the expedition we're working with rather than taking on everything alone.

Maybe if we had no choice and/or were alone entirely, but that's not the case.

[X] Ignore the creature and press on. You've a port to scout.

[X] You don't know enough to make a decision one way or the other. Follow the creature and see if its actions shed light on its purpose.

Unfortunate that the eggs look to be containing Cold Ones...well, perhaps we can make them more akin to Spite. That one was kind of awesome.

Or just dump them on the Ambers for favors and to increase their capability in combat.

Ah, you mean that DO can sprint faster than horse regardless of terrain? If so, yeah, we'll have to get creative.
Not exactly. If you go by TT, their Movement stat, (and base stats at least tend to fit with fluff most of the time...same for WS) Warhorses are faster.

Dragon Ogres have Movement 7, Warhorses have movement 8. So between that and being Tireless we'd have the advantage. But only as far as staying ahead of its base physical form. If it has blessings or mutations or such, that can't be accounted for.

Dragon Ogres are not subject to the Eye of the Gods or able to wear Heavy or Chaos Armor in TT, OR able to have Marks of the Chaos Gods but there's little reason for that to be the case here. Unless Boney sees their immortality as precluding them from further blessings, which I doubt, this one could have other things.

And even if it's not a Shaggoth, it could still be a hero and outside the bounds of base stats. And then there's no limit to what it could have, even magic of its own.

I'd be interested in fighting it if there was no choice or we were alone, seeing as we have a speed advantage and the element of surprise, but it's just not smart in this situation.

I'm undecided.

Do keep in mind that Dragon Ogres are sterile though. Every one killed is one fewer that exists on the world. Permanently.

We should ignore it and move on to the port, this dragon ogre could easily be alone and not doing anything of importance meaning following it could easily result in nothing.

The best case scenario if we do follow it is that it leads us to a whole bunch of other dragon ogres so that we can justify abandoning our mission to follow it. If it's doing nothing of importance though then our report is going to result in us saying we saw something interesting so decided to abandon the mission we were supposed to follow to do what we wanted instead.

Ignoring it and scouting the port is the smarter and safer option and the mission we're supposed to be doing. Let's not get distracted by the shiny.

The idea that this is not our mission is silly. We're going ahead to scout for enemies. We shouldn't ignore enemies because we encountered them sooner than we were told to.

Exactly. If it decides to range back around and eat a few dozen of our rangers or something and we don't do anything about it, that's on us.

It's not like we're going to leave it out of our report. Telling the dwarfs about the dragon ogre is important but the port still needs to be scouted.

Nooooo, we're not responsible for monster attacks, that's silly.

I don't think we'd get in much trouble for following a dud lead either, mind - people expect wizards to be eccentric, and we volunteered our services for this. It'd just be a waste.
