So, what lessons to pick.
There's lot of good ones, both from practical and narrative perspective.
For battle, i think i'd prefer
[ ] Battle: Surreptitious Intervention
Or perhaps you should focus not on when you lead the battles, but when you turned them more personally. Eyes and blades in the right places can make all the difference.

It is not only practical, but i like the sneakiness of it for the narrative.

As for Karak
[ ] Karak: Surveillance
A careful eye upon those that don't know about said eye can reveal all sorts of information, more than making up for how difficult it might be to get that eye into place.

[ ] Karak: Windherder
It's said the High Elves can achieve miracles by using the Winds in parallel. You'll have to make do with using them in series, having other people handle the other Winds, and making sure they keep a safe distance from each other. But cultivating this ability expands the possibilities exactly eightfold.

Not fully certain, surveilance would be really benefit the surreptitious intervention. But windherder seems fun as well, though kinda leaning on surveilance, i fear the windherder would get ignored far too much in favor of other things.

Personal? Oh Ranald i have no firm pick for personal.
[ ] Personal: Mountain Mystic
Your unconventional relationship with an unconventional God has so far gone mostly unnoticed. Perhaps word might begin to spread amongst the faithful that far from the sects, orders and brotherhoods of the Empire, one walks with only Ranald for company.

[ ] Personal: Poker Face
Acting like you always know what's going on has gone from a source of personal amusement to a vital diplomatic first line of defence. Perhaps this should be cultivated into a deeper understanding of the art of bluffing with no cards.

[ ] Personal: Unphased
You've seen a lot of terrible things. You were responsible for some of them. It is necessary to grow at least a little numb to the horrors of the world, so that one can continue to combat them.

[ ] Personal: The Mom Friend
As a friend, you have something of an interventionist streak. Perhaps you should embrace this, and make it your mission to ensure that those closest to you live their best lives.

Poker Faced and Unphased seem useful. I really want the Mom Friend. But Mountain Mystic is so cool.

"'So long as the Rune of Azamar endures, the Karaz Ankor shall never fall.' Right there in plain sight, lying to all our faces. It's bloody powered off the Karaz Ankor, for the benefit of Karaz-a-Karak. I thought I'd put his beard to the fire when we spoke, but he's willing to send aid to fortify because it lets him rob my Kingdom blind." You remain silent, extremely uncomfortable with how this is escalating but not able to point out any outright errors in his reasoning. He sighs again. "Thank you. Once more I am in your debt."

Dammit, Belegar. That jaded cynicism of yours is going to bite everyone of us in the butt.
At least talk to Kragg, for Ancestors' sake, before you do something unfortunate.
That power Karaz-a-Karak is siphoning is keeping both the Dwarfs and rune magic itself alive.
It's not actually being gathered for KaK's sole benefit.

And you, Thorgrim. Do you want a civil war? Do you? Maybe you can't tell others exactly what's happening, but you can damn well imply that things are turning for the better because K8P got restored.

Ugh.

This is what we need. One because it's useful, two because it's funny, three because it's really Ranaldian and that can synergyse well thematically with Mathilde.

[ ] Karak: Polyglot
Between Khazalid and Queekish, you've found there's a great deal of benefits to expanding your linguistic lexicon.

All the books, all the languages! Recently we met too many languages that Mathilde has trouble understanding. This trait allow us to economize AP on languages and finish the Queekish project much faster.

[ ] Battle: Trucemaker
You may not have the diplomatic chops to make lasting peace, but 'if we fight each other now, we both die' is much easier to sell, and can radically shift the balance of a conflict.

More diplomacy is always good

Like, i am almost as obsessed with Heidi and the god baby as Omegahugger is with that one dead guy.
Ok, i am nowhere near as obsessed.
But still somewhat obsessed.
And The Mom Friend would really work with that.
Like, we are literally the friend of the mom of the (probable) next emperor.
We could constantly get involved with the poor boys personal life to make sure he is making the right choices. :V

"Waystones. On one hand I'm furious that Ulthuan never told us it could be so easily tapped into and put to use, as the Eonir seem to be implying. But on the other, I shudder to think how much damage every Journeyman with more ambition than sense would cause if they had an idea that playing with henges and leylines could get them limitless power."
... Why do I for some reason feel like Algard is calling me out personally.

One language project we're on the verge of completing with or without any additional boosts does not make a polyglot required.

I strongly suspect that the high elves had the exact same reaction as Algard, but with 'human mage' instead of journeyman when contemplating what could he done with waystones.

[ ] Battle: General of Fog
Perhaps you should embrace the roll of General that fate seems to insist on thrusting upon you, and deepen your understanding of deriving and concealing information on the battlefield.

These traits both seem like the contribute to our magic growth.
General of Fog builds on our most prominent spell-crafting trait, and frankly designing spells that interact with the fog of war is something I find very appealing.
Windherder is all about collaborative efforts, and that's something that also interests me. I just hope that people don't vote for it because they think it will help with Ulgu tongs.

I really enjoy Math's interactions with her fellow Ranaldites.

Digger-of-Unnecessarily-Convoluted-Tunnels would a pretty interesting addition to K8P.
While I love Digger, I chose my mining metaphor with an eye to Dawi culture. I mean what I said: Thogrim's leadership style is manifesting as shoddy tunnel bracing. He isn't protecting Belegar or the well-being of his people. Like, even without Mathilde breezing in with a message from the elves, which nobody could have expected, did he think that Belegar just wouldn't notice the magical power flowing through his realm, when he's got the two greatest Runesmiths in the Karaz Ankor and a whole passel of Umgi wizards as permanent residents? That's just reckless of Thorgrim, and if it blows up in his face he deserves every bit of the blame for that.

I thought I'd put his beard to the fire when we spoke, but he's willing to send aid to fortify because it lets him rob my Kingdom blind."
God damnit Thorgrim. Just... god damnit. So much for the hopes of healing the schism. Belegar still doesn't know what the rune itself powers. So of course he'd assume that it's soley for the benefit of Karaz-a-Karak.

Mountain Mystic is my pick for personal, because we are basically obligated to troll them in harmless ways,
want windherder trait because research and human high magic possibility

Speaking elfish would be useful though. Plus, anything that helps communication with The We( my babies) is good for the entire Karak.
we know elfish already.
