I don't think so, I mean wild fires get to stupidly hot temperatures but it tends to help soil rather than harm it. So I'd assume that so long as the boiling doesn't somehow remove the topsoil it should be fine.
Soil is a very good insulator however. So, only the top layer of the soil is scorched. In this case we're going to go deep, and boil the entirety of the soil. That means that the entire microbiome, and all of the good insects and worms and stuff, are going to die.

Ork fungoids is though. If we're killing all of it, nothing else will survive.
That said, Panoramia restored soil from nothing before, she can do it again.

I see, well then how tricky would it be to fix that? Since while all the living stuff will die there will still be all the essential mineral things. I will admit I don't know much about soil science so I am just spit shooting here.

Depends on the surroundings, and how fast the good stuff can migrate in.
While I am in no way an authority on this subject, I woulld like to point out that Boney has, on several occasions, stated his distaste for simulating the extreme minutia of the world, and this is about the most minute you can get. Unless he turns out to have a secret passiong for soil science, I highly doubt he'll put that much thought into things.

Tedious, but not difficult. You'd need to move in seed populations of decomposers, which basically means you dig cartloads of dirt from the eastern valley, mix it with manure, bury it shallowly all over the desolated area and give it a few years or apply Jade wizard to jumpstart the process a bit.

@BoneyM , we don't know if Birdmuncha died, but we surely know if we targeted him, right? After all, we had to look every orc in the face and we had already paid special attention to him.

She had to individually scan half a million individuals.
In no particular order.

She's very much not thinking about it because she's not sure if she'd be functional for the rest of the day if she did. Not without time and distance. If you had to click yes to half a million dialogue boxes I can guarantee nobody's going to remember any text of any of them, every orc is unique and remarkable in their own way.

I believe that was specifically regarding anything where canon was contradictory, as his approach has been to use all of it and just ignore the impossible contradictions, rather than picking one answer. Getting nitpicky about areas that cannot hold up to that level of scrutiny is pointless and unhelpful, but I don't believe soil science is one of them.

Unless we're outright bothering Boney, they're pretty tolerant of more pedantic forms of thread madness.

+ Birdmuncha the really zogging big maybe really Zogging big, but I don't think Mathilde knew him on sight aside from his really zogging bigness.

Mathilde literally described how big he was and his plumage from the bird he presumably ate. Now i wont say its impossible mathilde isnt sure she targetted him or not because of the hours of subjective time but he would stand out if she did.

No, I was actually referring to things like how he didn't want to bother figuring out the economic fluctuations of a certain Province halfway across the world, and stuff like that, because Mathilde has no particular influence over it, and that would take far too much work. So unless we become particularly interested in the gardening process, and it thus becomes necessary, he'll probably just roll a few dice at best and call it one way or another. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't find a story about soil science particularly interesting to read, let alone write.

I'm not saying don't discuss it, just that I wouldn't expect Boney to actually put much work into any chapters where the Caldera and its fertility become relevant. I certainly don't.

Technically we've not seen his face before. Dunno if the eye showed him to us with or without his mask and gear and with a height comparison, so there's some uncertainty we would have recognized him even if we hadn't had to scan half a million others as well.

I'm pretty sure there was a dwarf whose job it was to constantly watch Birdmuncha, so someone knows, just not Mathilde.

Soil science, village layout, my point stands: he has not expressed "distaste" for examining minutiae unless it's butting up against contradictory canon, so there's no need to try to shut down the discussion in the fashion that you were.

EDIT: Actually, looking back, I seem to have misread you. My apologies.

You turn your eye to the largest of the Wagons, and your immediate impression is that Warboss Birdmuncha the Really Zoggin' Big matches his name twice over. Despite sitting down he still towers over the Orcs running alongside his Wagon, and attached to leather straps running along his chest, back and arms is the plumage of what must have been an enormous bird, adding more bulk to his already enormous frame. His face is covered by a blank metal mask, and he glowers through the eyeholes at the horde running alongside his Wagon, occasionally gesturing and presumably shouting commands.

Mathilde knows how he looks.

... I'm so glad I went to my computer instead of writing this on my phone, because I was about to ask if you had ignored my entire post. I would like to say I'm sorry if it seemed like I was trying to shut down the conversation, since that was my intent. Some of the most interesting conversations on this thread are about things like that, and one can learn a lot by reading them. I just wanted to point out that Boney probably, probably, wouldn't be using too much of it and we should keep our expectations within reason for a writer, not a scientist.

good arguments for either
That being was described as 'brooding and angry and indecisive'. Both Rat and Sigmar can be angry - but I've never once seen Sigmar described as 'brooding' or 'indecisive'. It's simply not his nature. Not as hammer-wielding barbarian, nor as warrior protector god. On the other hand 'brooding' and 'indecisive' very much describe the Rat.

Honestly people, that's obviously a dwarf god, probably Grimnir.

You can tell it is a dwarf god because of his mention of Karak Eight Peaks as the site of an old scar, which screams dwarf god, since it references the harm upon the dwarven race that was done there so long ago (specially since K8P is said to have been established by the ancestor gods). And I'm thinking Grimnir because he's described as brooding and angry and Grimnir is the God of Slayers and Grudges.

The Rat hasn't suffered any old wounds at this location, the death of Clan Mors is a recent event if that even counts as harm to a God who loves eating his own Skaven as much as anything else.
