damn it. The best stuff was definitely sneaky books and magical books, along with Eastern Books 'maybe' and spell books, so we only got 'Meh Tier' look out of this epic looting opportunity. What a fucking waste.

Seeing as we're making a Skaven translation dictionary and can hand this info up to people who can orchestrate things over the continent, I'd hardly call it a waste.

As for the Eastern books, that depends on what kind exactly. If they're just history and demographics and such, it's meh, but until than let's see what it actually is.

Compared to what else was on the table? Yes it was. Information on the skaven civil war is useless, because it only happened because the Horned Rat went silent, and its already ended saved for the clean up. We can't make the Horned Rat fuck off, and we can't influence skaven to start another war, so the information isn't worth anything. Eastern Books 'could' be good depending what they actually involve, but with spell books being on the table they are second place at best, if not third.

Information on the civil war could include Eshin intelligence on the assets and placements of Clan Mors.

To be fair, we actually have no idea on that. Mors is doing pretty shit, yeah, but we've got basically no idea how Pestilens is doing.

If this is up-to-date intelligence on that, it could definitely be useful to the Colleges.

I think you ended up quoting the wrong post here.

I, for one, look forward to how Boney handles Nippon and Cathay. We're dipping our toes in cool lore from far beyond our borders now.

Just imagine the Eshin boss face when he discovers that someone stole all his Nipponese romance books:
" The art war didn't prepare me for this..."

Haha, nice.

We can probably talk to Dragomas for a primer at least, worst comes to worst. He's been there, he clearly has to know the language.

The Civil War books are probably the most immediately valuable for us though in terms of Favor generation. Not much immediate utility, but would probably let us gauge what the overall timeline on our campaign should be--if it's on the cusp of being won, it means we need to be extremely aggressive in this campaign because it means the Horned Rat is about to call it off, and we need to do our best to try and clear out the Skaven from Eight Peaks now, even at cost.

Basically, it tells us what the timeline is before the Skaven unite up again and it becomes one super faction fighting us instead of three or more fighting each other the most.

And if the rumors were to be believed managed to convince someone to teach him the language while wearing no pants. Remember. That is the most important fact of Dragomas. He managed to thrive in a foreign court with no pants.

The Books might also give insight on which Skaven settlements in the Empire are more vulnerable, thus allowing the Empire to possibly pursue more campaigns against the rats without repeating the events of Nuln.

I mean, it was a loot roll. That's what happens; sometimes you get the average case or the below-average case. We were never guaranteed the prizes people really wanted, but we got away with this stuff with no downside, so no skin off our nose.

Hopefully the civil war intel is useful to the Empire or the Karaz Ankor, and I am curious about the Eastern books.

Honestly, I'll be thrilled if we could steal some of whatever weird martial arts Eshin uses.

Information about the civil war could be very useful. After all pretty soon the grey college is going to be able to leave notes in Queekish. Knowing what went down in the civil war could be very useful in creating a bit of above average backstabbing.

Eastern Books... and Information on the Civil War. Huh.

Dragomas' might be interested in this. His claim to fame that netted an instant jump to Lord Magister straight from Journeyman was the fact that he negotiated a non-aggression pact with Cathay. Depending on those Eastern Books and whether there'd be synergy between the two topics... there's something to be said about strengthening the ties between the Empire and the largest contingent civilization in Mallus.

Especially considering the purpose of Karag Nar as a holding place for visiting diplomats and dignitaries, the Dragon Emperor might have cause to consider putting a foreign attache to Karak Eight Peaks, well, probably until after it's no longer an active warzone... or maybe even then, considering the fact how warlike Mallus is overall.

Learning:
Advanced Morrite Lore: You know the secrets no Priest of Morr should have ever put to paper. +1 Learning
Bibliothecography (1/3)
Undead Lore: Working in Stirland under the Witch Hunter Abelhelm van Hal gave you many opportunities to learn to study the eternal enemy of Stirland: the restless dead. +1 Learning
Von Carstein Lore: You have received a glimpse into the founder of the bloodline long before he took up the name of von Carstein.
Huh. That's a new one. Means "Library Science." Rather appropriate for Mathilde these days.

Unsorted:
Books stolen from Clan Eshin, in what you guess to be Cathayan.
Inter-Eshin correspondence detailing the Civil War.
And here's the books themselves.

Yeah, but emosion does not covey much in written text. What came as creepy enthusiasm differ much from mod to mod.

Better not to talk about it at all.

You're free to decide what topics you will or will not engage in, but this is not the place to discuss it. There's a thread in Staff Communication on this very topic that you can post in if you wish.
