IIRC he has ~30 on foot.

Anyway, fucking Grand Theogonist is busy with politics when people are this close of destroying Drakenhof?

And the damn Ar-Ulric that's usually so proud of his martial tradition is the cause of it.

These religions need better leaders.
Either way not doing Van Hal's crisis of faith any favors.
His WHFB statline, for those that know the system:

Asarnil: M5 WS6 BS6 S4 T4 W2 I8 A3 Ld9
Deathfang: M6 WS7 BS0 S7 T7 W8 I5 A8 Ld8

Equipment: Lance, sword, shield, Heavy Ithilmar Armour (4+), Amulet of Dragonheart - anyone fighting against Asarnil in melee combat has WS reduced to 1.

Cost: 800 points.

Deathfang has arguably the strongest melee statline in the entire tabletop game. Put Asarnil and his ridiculously broken magical trinket on top and he just turns into utter bullshit.

What I'm getting at is a combined martial for both of them could be as high as fifty.
O.O
Yeah he neither needs our help nor likely appreciates it. Maybe if we were a Wizard Lord.
Assuming they can get across at all, they'll shave their heads and swear slayer oaths if they can't get something up within a day or two that lasts longer than any 'permanent' manling bridge.
That changes things, more willing to take a risk then.

[x] Plan Two: We can't leave the 'Countess' in play. Strike at the town of Drakenhof.
[X] By Van Hal's side, whatever happens.

Having this many dwarfs really changes a lot of navigation problems into THROUGH THE WALLS.
We make a new bridge next to the town and then surprise the shit out of them

[x] Plan three re-existing roads and bridges are necessary for a proper supply line. We should got via Pfaffbach.
[x] By Van Hal's side, whatever happens.

While it isn't the time of three emperors, the Empire is in a state of... mediocre leadership. Why else do you think they'd elevate a random Witch Hunter into power?

My main vote. We have Dwarven Engineering to ford rivers, and I'd rather have a good staging point.

Don't have a lot of time for deeper analysis at the moment, but with dwarves we wouldn't really need pre-existing infrastructure. Being a magical bodyguard best uses Mathilde's abilities. While the morale bonus is nice, remember that we aren't a supercombatant. That morale boost would be the best thing we provide fighting on the front lines.

The battle wizards really don't need us, Arsanil needs us even less, and the artillery...well it's probably the second best use of our skills. It has a solid chance of earning brownie points, but is also going to be guarded by dwarves.

Plan three is iffy because it seems to leave our supply line stretched which is a bad thing when our enemy quite likely knows our force dispositions and quite possibly our plans. Also I really don't want to get trapped between the town and the castle so plan 1 is no good.

Staying by Van Hal seems like a fairly safe choice. I doubt we'd be super welcome near the artillery since those are explody enough without having a wizard near them, standing with the soldiers would stick us on the front lines of danger, standing with the wizards is like staying near the artillery but worse, and we'd only be an anchor trying to stay with the dragon.

"Sylvania, hmm? Interesting." He purses his lips thoughtfully. "We're aware of the assault, and have decided our attentions are needed elsewhere. However, I am due a holiday and this does seem interesting. Tell your master that the Sunscryer will join in the fun."
That's actually much better than I expected, I thought we'd actually get a slap in the face but it looks like we got a slap in the face and a wizard they want to get rid of.

"Mm. Yes, I think it would be for the best if our Order were to be present for this campaign. Tell your Elector Count Van Hal to expect us." Somehow, it sounds more like a threat than an offer of assistance.
Ominous but a wizard lord is definitely quite a boon

Asarnil: M5 WS6 BS6 S4 T4 W2 I8 A3 Ld9
Holy shit I didn't think elves could even reach toughness 4, Asarnil is truly a badass.

I joined during the Waifu war, how could I vote anything else?

Really nice 'calm before the storm' update Boney, lots of little nice details.

One question- is Jovi a Batltle Wizard, or just Regular Flavour? (@veekie )

Magister Jovi Sunscryer, Light Wizard

Inclined to stick with Van Hal as others have articulated.

We're putting a lot of faith in dwarven engineering to ford this river under active opposition led by a Vampire (and likely a necromancer vampire at that). Zombies walking across on the river bed, that sort of thing.

Plan Two is tempting just because the Countess could probably do a LOT of damage if given some time to turn her civilians into bombs or whatever else she decides to do, and Plan Two gives her as little time to prepare as possible.

It does sound like Plans One and Two come down to a die roll on whether a who-knows-how-big chunk of our army gets washed away with the spring thaw, though.

So that makes me lean towards Plan Three, on the grounds that we can't exactly Ranald's Blessing that shit.
