[X] Armor of von Tarnus
[X] Plan Pickle Requests mk IV

Yeah, Mathilde seems to just have a thing of ordering another new bigger building, or ship whenever she get#s a boon, and throwing last one to the side. Just doesn't feel that interesting. The ability to straight up almost defy physical laws in terms of armour protection sounds really radical, compared to something we allready got a lot of. 1 billion yatch isn't that much more impressive then 500million yatch.

We do not have a flying boat, gyrocopter, while flying, is not a warship, the use cases are very different.
Even a flying tower (that i am not voting for btw) would actually change things.

Armor, is just more armor, we have armor, we were going to make armor, probably not quite as good armor, but still pretty good as armor goes.
If any option could be described as going to 1 billion yacht from a 500 million yacht, the the armor is it.

Yeah I've been looking forward to making our new robes for irl years, just grabbing other armor isn't something I'm interested in in the slightest.

... If we make our own robes again... You think we could convince the emperor hysh dragon to part with some scales for aesthetics? I like the idea of black/dark grey robes with white accents and highlights.

I don't want the airship, because I just don't want Mathilde to fight that way. I want her to be in the fray, going after enemy lords, not observing from an airship in the sky. I feel like the airship is going to lead to us not engaging in battle with the skills we've developed. Especially because we're not going to use it to cast battle magic, because the thread doesn't want to learn battle magic.

I don't know, the ship just doesn't seem as cool as being an invulnerable Jedi knight.

I don't think it will happen that way. Instead think of the Airship as the distraction Carnifex that the enemy focuses on while Mathilde sneaks around the battlefield.

The ship can work in standby and help with long range observation before we infiltrate. Probably slap down some markers on objects that need to get bombed and drop some PGM (Precision Guided Magic :V ) on them.

I don't hate the flying ship option, but it seems like the utility-to-College effort ratio would be lower than a lot of people seem to think, outside certain situations.
I'm good with the Armor, because I do like the idea of smol Mathilde being able to just pile into mobs of orcs alongside Johann, the aesthetic seems interesting, and the utility-to-effort ratio is good.
I'm good with the Pikkl^2 plan, although I am not sure that the Flock of Doom secret is worthwhile.
I like the term "Mammothry", but I think that as an option, it's worse than the flying ship - very situational, and probably less utility, and it just really doesn't vibe with me.

I sympathize with Boney's desire to not have this hanging, but I also think that waiting until the next large "what do" direction breakpoint is a worthwhile option.

We gave them extra orbs of sorcery, and taught them how to do more.
Flying ship is a pittance in comparison.

Not to mention the lesson learned from making it can be used to make more ships, just less souped up ones.
We could be at the cusp of a transportation revolution here (even if only military one for now).
There is already an airship mooring place in K8P, maybe this will encourage dwarves to see if they can find some old designs in the archives to adapt in the next century or so.

This is part of why I dislike the armor. Everything else you listed was made specifically for Mathilde as part of the quest, it's a product of Boney's and thread's creativity. The Armor of von Tarnus is just... a magic item ripped out of a sourcebook. It's got exactly the same vibes as when people just start wiki-diving and going "this prosthetic arm Mathilde knows nothing about is clearly the same arm as that Lizardman hero".

Mathilde has some in-character reason to know the Armor exists unlike the more egregious cases, but for something that was barely mentioned before this vote to suddenly become the thread fixation because we know OOC it's "the best armor ever that Mathilde could never hope to equal" when IC she's never even thought about examining the enchantment just feels lame as hell.
There is some fairness to this - our robes are not the strongest in the Colleges in any sense but they are cool because they're our robes. We made them, and we can make improve upon them - with We-silk and other magical artefacts we might find on Ulthuan.

Don't get me wrong, the Armor is cool and if it wins I won't complain about being a goddamn tank in battle, but I'm a sentimental and prideful person, and I'd rather lean in on being a Grey Enchanter. But the airship? No amount of personal work will be able to match that, because we'd be asking all eight Colleges to create something that no single enchanter could ever do.

...And, well, this is tertiary concern at best, but I also think the Armor of von Tarnus would be better for our dear godson Mandred. He's going to the Brights, so I don't think it'd be weird for him to be a priority for wearing it.

I don't think Mathilde will be particularly hanging back while attacking a place with an airship - I think she'd probably be in the thick of it alongside other warriors to take down soft targets.

One of the few situations in which I can imagine we'd make Mathilde explicitly hang back would be if we ever have to deal with a wizard dangerous enough that we feel that she needs to focus on counterspelling them. Most likely necromancers, to take full advantage of her Necromantic and Dhar Insights, but still.
