Eh, most of the thread's dislike of Alric is based on conversations with Egrimm- before that, there wasn't much of an opinion.

The thread likely wouldn't have *liked* him, but most likely it would have just resulted in only spending one action talking to him rather than the, what, *four* we did with Egrimm.

It would have probably involved some posturing as Alric would likely attempt to assert control of all the wizards, including maybe Mathilde herself, but I can't see it progressing to murder unless he became a clear and present threat to the expedition as a whole. Which is unlikely.
Theoretically there's a world where Mathilde wound up befriending and siding with Alric, pushing Egrimm over the edge as she helps Alric take over the Light College again.

In this world, instead of Ljiljana saving Mathilde from the Khornate champion, perhaps it's Alric who does so instead. I can imagine him wanting the cup to be taken by the Colleges though, and if Mathilde does take that path, not endearing her to Ljiljana in the process, perhaps it's the Cup that ultimately tempts Egrimm to fall.

Mostly yes, except it's not Niedzwenka. That's the hag witch.

Alternatively, since resisting the Cup's temptation was a Piety roll and most College wizards aren't half as faithful as Mathilde, Alric himself would wind up chugging it on the spot.

Taking Egrimm along was never even considered, but unless something had happened to expose Alric's ambitions (like him trying to steal some credit for Vlag, which is actually very likely now I think of it) Mathilde/thread probably wouldn't think twice about asking Boss Hysh to come fight the forces of Chaos.

I doubt he'd have any luck with that with the Dwarves right there and getting their solution from Mathilde.
I don't think Alric knows about the Dwarven waystone network.

Not that it'd matter with the Protector coin cutting through any of his bullshit.

Considering we were a grey LM (newly minted, but still) aka high ranking and very much NOT a competitor, its also highly possible Alric would try to get on our good side in order to get an ally.

Alric likely wouldn't care about Dwarven favor, but the joke later on about Egrimm racing back to the Colleges to get his name on the papers first might actually have come true.

Also his boss took his golden bear ass to a place where a very influential subset of society religiously venerates physical perfection, and their species kind of tops out at twunk.
You're telling me Johann has body hair? This is important information. His attractiveness just went up by a minimum of 10%!

Now the question is how the hell does golden body hair look/feel like... gold flakes? Much to think about.

Hopefully closer to the softness of leaf than the bristly feeling of fine wire. He wouldn't be able to wear a shirt without shredding it.

Gilding is a process of perfection. So, if Johann has golden hair it's because he considers that perfect and the hair will be whatever texture he thinks is best.

It was intended as a joke;)

I think a lot of the justification for not bringing anyone else was the assumption that stealing the cup would be more of a heist than a smash and grab, and that stealth capabilities would be most important.
Yeah, bringing a walking lamppost for a stealth mission isn't the best of ideas.

He wouldn't be able to wear a shirt without shredding it.
And what a shame it would be…

This comment made me realize I always imagine Johann as bald, but the story has never explicitly said that he had no hair. I only thought that because the romance vote memes got inside my head and convinced me that Johann was actually Armstrong from full metal.

It's probably not too pointy and prickly, if Mathilde's speculation on the nature of his, ah... Overnight company in Gerdouen isn't completely off the mark. Could make such things trickier. Touch painful. (Then again, takes all sorts...)
