We could technically experiment on our own, and perhaps we'd get further along than others have tried because a) we'd be willing to risk losing an Orb, b) we have a Room of Calamity and c) we have The Gambler on our side. But it's not a guarantee in any sense and I'm sure everyone would feel more comfortable doing so with instructions from Teclis or whatever.

...Also, have the Colleges even figured out how to make staffs topped with regular power stones? I feel like there was a WoB along those lines but I can't find it.

I think Mathilde's staff might have one on top? I'm sure it was a possibility, at least.

But that's not integrating the power stone unto the staff itself, it just seems like making it a support for them. So this might legit be worth asking.

@Boney have the Colleges seen any success in integrating normal power stones on top of staffs? Because that seems like the logical first step to take here instead of jumping straight to Orbs, but I don't actually recall seeing any statements on the matter.

It's a thing, but it's one method among many for turners to use that has its own advantages and disadvantages instead of a one-size-fits-all universal improvement.

Yeah, I could see that.

Then we might legit be better off staying with our current staff. It can't be said we have much skill in the general subject, we've only turned the one we currently have, and there's no guarantee a staff made with an Orb would end up having the capacity to treat mist/fog/miasma-based spells as one step safer.
 
I am now feeling quite bad for poor Zlata, who had a "thirst to prove herself" and is instead mostly just getting to watch Baba Niedzwenka show off how great Hag magic is.

I hope we can take the Kislev Network action soon. That's something cool that the Ice Witches have unambiguously achieved out of, what, three Waystones and a dream? Getting to show that off would be pretty impressive.

I thought about putting it on the Create Orbs of Sorcery action, but that is likely to be just one roll. The reasoning behind it being on he Waystone action is that I expect that action to include several rolls (which may be hidden) for how well different pieces work together which I hope the coin can affect.

Humour was part of the intention, but also by answering the question literally, I intended to draw attention to the unspoken portion of it. It's something along the lines of 'would Ranald then bestow his blessing upon Eike', which when actually enunciated is pretty clearly the sort of question that does not get a straight answer.

Oh it's an antenna! I was thinking of it as having divine power already rather than being purely symbolic. I guess that's another way arcane magic and divine magic differ.

EDIT: Not sure if antenna's the right word, but it's more a kind of "hey bless me" kind of thing than a blessing itself.

I think assembling the waystone is likely to have a decent amount of chance/risk involved. How much specifically probably depends on what components we choose but it's still going to involve stacking several pretty novel techniques together and then trying to hook it up to a major power source.
 
I could see putting the Gambler on the Ithilmar action turning the payout way the fuck up if we roll well. It's a lot of vectors and avenues for Ranald to stick his oars in, with the ultimate goal of making a huge pile of money (a caper, as Heidi would put it).

Still probably better on the Waystones, so people have a higher chance of getting a good night's sleep and having a breakthrough at just the right time. Or people deciding not to shove their foot in their mouths, or being in a good mood and being willing to share more than usual. Etc.


Side question: is there a reason besides simulation-poking balance that we can't use Serenity actions to Codify spells?
