Would be amusing if Marthilde starts getting ideas when someone mentioned her busting up ghosts.
Okay though it still raise the possibility if we want to end the debt now to help Stirland if they have a cash flow problem then offering to pay off that debt would really help. We certainly have the money and the Grey college wouldn't complain.
Ehh… maybe a turn we have the Coin set to make it appear selfless? Not sure if the economic problems of Stirland count as a threat we didn't cause but it can't hurt.
Belegar is awesome at stewardship, but we're a dab hand at it ourselves, and I don't think you're allowed to be your own Steward. My concern is overseeing the Undumgi, with the economic concerns as a close second.

But he would have to make concessions to the dwarf clans for not picking "their" candidate. The 3 all have their platform they are invested in, so a steward uninvolved in dwarf industry allows Belegar to point and contain the political arguments.

I just can't imagine Mathilde marrying Anton. Their friendship is so ingrained, that I doubt it'll ever grow into romantic love. The distance we'll need to travel also wont help things and with our wizard tower, I doubt we'll be leaving Karak Eight Peaks anytime soon, especially if we invest plentiful favors into it.
Also, Wilhelmina and Anton would be an awesome power-couple.
I also would prefer Panoramia and Mathilde to build a romantic relationship, since their interests are similar enough and the location is as well. Their relationship isn't fully solidified and the fact that Mathilde is no longer her boss helps.

Firstly, I would very much prefer it if people wouldn't refer to romance between women as "yuri". It's just as egregious and irritating as calling a relationship between men "yaoi". This isn't even an anime quest.
Secondly, if you feel dread over the thought of romance between women with a female protagonist, you might want to self reflect on why you feel dread. Do you feel dread when you think of a man and a woman getting together?
Thirdly, even if Mathilde ended up with a woman, she wouldn't be a lesbian. She would be bisexual. Please don't erase bisexuality while fearmongering over the existence of women who love women.
I understand that SV might have a problem with poorly written female protagonist romances with other women that might have left people jaded, but try to imagine how it feels to be LGBT and trying to find a story that represents you in actually published books. You will find very little that fit with what you want.

Just now she tipped of Wilhemine about Stirlanders returning with coin to buy land and ripped off the countess via insider trading, all the while feeling great about herself.

Because she really doesn't need to . She already owns a 1/3 stake in West Stirland. And best gunpowder ingredients are still being quietly sold to the Dwarves.

The position vote is a bit meta, of course. While Mathilde contributed greatly to the Reconquest, so did a lot of other characters. It's not likely that Belegar just gave her the pick of whatever position she wanted, though one could interpret it as "she lets him know what she's interested in and it happens that matches his thoughts on the matter".
