Panny is my only definite vote here, because obviously we should be there for her.

Eh... if we recruit young enough I doubt it will matter. People will not really remember the kids they used to be friends with when they were 10 or something, what the Empire considers a child. Even when they do remember they will not be that fond of them, it's more of an 'oh, hey it's that guy' rather than 'good to see you again blood brother of the great cookie heist'.

If we're expecting them to be usefully literate I'm expecting we're recruiting mid-teens as they 'graduate' from the orphanages, at the time when they'd otherwise we entering a trade. These will probably be people just becoming young adults, not small children. Not least because we don't have the infrastructure to look after children.

Otherwise we'd have to establish our own giant orphanage.

People enter the trades at 10-12 years.

Just look at Eike- she had her Quickening and Dooming, so she was an adult. Even at age 11.

(also it's a big subject that's not at all related to the quest, but historically there was a lot of debate within the Christian faiths over whether the Bible was something for everyone to read or whether it was only for the clergy, and at points it was a crime punishable by death to translate the Bible from Greek or Latin into a 'vulgar tongue')
Angry hussite clamoring.

Literal wars and crusades have been waged for (among other things) wanting to translate bible into common local tongues.

No special reason, just want to check in with our spooky beanpole
[X] Druchii Diplomats
They're fun, and we're still fishing for leads on how to program a waystone.

Partly because they have the broadest range of languages, and partly to bring more people into Karag Nar, but mostly because I like the idea of setting up a continent-wide scholarship to go with the branch college and the library.

Henry VIII, despite founding the protestant Anglican Church, despised the idea of an English Bible, and tried to suppress it as long as possible. He allegedly flew into a rage one Christmas when a young Princess Elizabeth gifted him a bible she'd personally spent a year translating into English.

(of course, this is the same guy who flew into a rage when he disguised himself as Robin Hood as a prank and his new german wife didn't understand the reference)

Edit: but I'm getting very off topic now.

Orphans good.

@Boney thank you for the wonderful update. Lots of little character tidbits that I find honestly charming. We don't get to see Mathilde and the boys bantering that often, but I appreciate getting a look at the character interactions between them.

There are a ton of references and mentions of certain canonical aspects of Reikland and lots of geographical tidbits that I'd be interested in diving into, but today is my sibling Raven's birthday. I'm gonna be spending most of it with them. If any of you feel so inclined I'd be happy to show them your birthday wishes.
Give them my birthday wishes too please, even if it is too late! :p

I want to help orphans and frankly I want a loyal cadre of orphans that we can have absolute loyalty. Not that I am thinking of going to Cathy one day and bring back a martial arts expert to train the orphans . The emperor is a must for me because we have actually made some success and possibly head pats. I want to meet the Mark Graf because I think in cannon he became a vampire. Gretel because she is best duck and possibly a princess now.

Major storm for Azyr. Maybe everyone who gets too close to Hysh becomes free of desire (and hence 'pure') and then starves to death? Depends on how you look at it really. Depends on how you look at any of them.

Well, he only wanted to be Protestant to get an annulment and be rich. He didn't really care about the theology (and actually got commended by the Pope for writing a treatise defending Catholicism).

Despite the talk a week or two past, Locals and Orphans have taken quite the lead over the cults of Scripsisti and Clio. I guess there's some factors that always change how voters see things when the actual vote comes up.

Any guesses on what the external social action may be? I'm not seeing any conspicuously missing options from last turn save Wissenland, which we know was about the Skaven attack and thus probably less interesting to write about now. So it should be something new.

/s Clearly, it's going to be Birdiboy Sarthorael sending a raven to keep an eye on us :V

I owe Hubert an apology, because I keep forgetting Azyr is also storm/weather magic, not just astrology.

I think the external action may be by elves form Ulthuan who are visiting as delegates to counter the druichi.

Yeah, it feels like it's time for the high elves to start to weigh in—if not this turn, then probably within the next 3-5, if not sooner.

Regarding the socials, I dont have many strong opinions.
Panoramias locked in.
I think we really should drop in on whatever the druchii are up to. Im more positively inclined to them then most here, but I think everyone can agree that we really want to and should know what they are up to. Just to be in Position to do something if necessary.
Im not quite as determined to brief the emperor than some, but I think its a good idea.
On the rest I have at best preferences. Will remove those votes if they get above the three I care for.

For the library I was in camp orphans or locals as librarians, now Im the same for scribes. It just gives us our own, loyal workforce which does whats best for us, not for some other entity which might diverge in opinion from us. We can also train them in whatever language we like and Id imagine itd raise a lot less eyebrows from some of the more lets say reclusive libraries we get access to if our people roll in, not some third party serving a foreign god we just subcontracted. Id prefer Orphans, but Locals are good as well.

An inroad with the Verenans and a ready-made workforce religiously devoted to the task we want them doing. Win-win.

I think a sweep of the check-ins would make for a nice cohesive update, and some (salamanders) have been left since before we reached Karak Eight Peaks.

If we think Asur diplomats may show up soon, it's even more urgent to talk to the Druichi now, so we have a better hand when talking to the former.

At the moment we need better Bretonnian contacts (as that's the only other language we can read, barring Elves)

Would be good to learn Kislevarin and make inroads there.
Yeah, kislev probably has some interesting stuff. Learning about their gods if nothing else. As for bretonnia... well, there's probably some trashy Arthurian romances Mathilde can add to her collection.

Maybe we should take a trip to araby some time. They probably have more nehekara stuff than the empire if nothing else.

Was it this quest that had some maybe-a-tomb-king dude ruling over some arabyan city states and getting in a war with Settra?
