The Orbs are giant balls of condensed Winds, that's not exactly discreet even if you're a Grey. And trying to infiltrate the most heavily warded places in the Empire looks like a bad idea, especially the Light College. An intrusion would likely be seen as hostile, and the defending magisters would likely shoot first. Also… once we've had fun with Algard I sorta want to give the others away in ironically prankish ways. Show up at gold college disguised as a snake oil salesman and reveal suddenly Orb of Sorcery to sell. Hide one at the bottom of Dragomas strangely large soup bowl for lunch. Buried in the Jades' rose garden. Drop the Celestials' out of the sky. Leave the Whites on their front desk with a note 'you lost this'.
It will be a long and difficult process to teach them all that they'd need to know
Consider yourself lucky, kid. You got me to take out my Powerstone. I was hoping it didn't have to come to this. Even I thought I wouldn't have to do this. Witness me as pull out my Powerstone, a beautiful piece of glorious Aethyric wind, folded over ten thousand times, crafted by the greatest wizards the Empire of Man has to offer. I have trained with this Powerstone in several Colleges, but my power exceeded the strength of even their greatest masters. My techniques have been perfected through infinite training, my instincts honed by years of meditation in the far off city of Altdorf. Your depravity has doomed you to a death devoid of honor, be grateful that I at least grant you death by the Powerstone.2e Realms of Sorcery talks about magic in terms of strands a lot, including power stones being a single strand folded back on itself over and over until it solidifies.
For me it doesn't sting, it hurts like hell. We used a Boon for that, I want it to be Mathilde's legacy to the entire world. Not the personal possession of some sparkly lizard. That might sting, at first glance. To think that the library that we are building is already being "claimed" by another as their own, even before it is opened.
We should be able to get some if we explain what it is for.
We've got sensible co-workers.
Also, imagine if we (thread) still had our Egrimm paranoia when it turns out that the very cornerstone of Waystone operation is Dhar fueled.
Pitchforks. Pitchforks and torches, that's what.
Nono this is of utmost importance Mathilde has to fullfill here SMUG(tm) quota after all.On the Orb of Sorcery topic... We (apparently) have 18 gallons of AV. It takes 8 to make a set of Orbs.
Clearly the only option is to get enough power crystals to make 2 sets without advertising anything, and then dump all 16 Orbs on the Colleges all at once.
This is... mostly? a joke.
Fair point, but I can't help but imagine how it would've been if Egrimm had been thrown our way when we went through the motions of gathering our team this time around. If the thread were at all paranoid about Egrimm he wouldn't have been invited to the project in the first place.
But that would deprive us of the glorious shock and confusion that dumping a full set of orbs on the patriarchs of the college would get us.
Literally Ranald: " Stop trying to steal from my favourite cat!"Master Thief: "So I just got to steal some book from a library? Easy."
*Arrives only to find that the Library is staffed by giant spiders*
Master Thief: "I may have errored."
I might be misremembering, but wasn't there something about Mathilde being able to go into negative College Favor, it would just result in basically any other Wizard being able to cash in their favor and call her for whatever they wanted? Normally that would be a problem, yeah, but if we immediately repaid it with Orbs of Sorcery…
By the way, what's a Cup of Verena?
You walk down to your library, stare in befuddlement at the bare shelves, then sigh as you recall that most of your books are now housed within Kvinn-Wyr.
and then you sigh and return all the way back to the library - would it be wasteful to have Adela on hand to fly you back and forth from your home to the library? -

Build a tower to enable longer-range teleportation. Will require an action to set up, exact implementation will be determined by rolls and choices with that action.
Actually with a orb of sorcery we be able to power a teleportation tower. We have to figure out a safe way of teleporting, so maybe gates. I know it was a joke but it might be possible. So people seem to have missed the unimaginably terrible problem that came up in this update.
Mathilde's library is too far from her lab!
This must be solved immediately.
