You know I really dislike locals, like not that I would hate reading about it, more than I would read about it and feel... nothing at all. It is expected, hell it is what we sold Belegar on back during the charter: multi-racial library of dwarf, human and halfling all singing kumbaya, it just feels like a wasted chance to make something unique, like the Dragon who would treat lore as part of his hoard or the spiders who would see the first coppy of every book as part of their mind and soul.
This is like the exact reverse of why I like it. We spent a boon to get a thing, I want that thing. Dragon or We both pretty radically alter the library so that we aren't really getting the thing we originally bought.

[X] Locals
[X] The We

Assuming one of these two win, I'm currently in favour of the other one being involved in our Scribe Army.

What about another We in the sense of another We "colony" after they split a couple more times?

It's not impossible, but to We thinking an already-staffed library is an already-filled niche, so trying to invade it would amount to a declaration of war against the Karak.

Actually, how would the We refer to a collection of their colonies? As in we (a group of we colonies) decide to do x.

They don't. Different colonies don't really cooperate, the closest they get is a sort of non-aggression pact they call a 'many-food', which is an acknowledgement that there's enough prey in an area that there's no reason for them to directly compete.

[X] Cython
I don't think Cython would be a dick about things. Also, dragon librarian.

To whom? There's a branch college inside a fortress right where she is, it's not like there's a better location to have it.
To whoever is given the job of managing and investigating AV.

Think of it this way: We were persuaded to give our store of Skaven tech over to dedicated researchers because it is something very much worth researching that Mathilde can't dedicate sufficient time to research in a reasonable period.
That same logic applies to AV, except far more so. AV is of strategic significance and Mathilde has been mostly sitting on it for years. The Colleges aren't going to be happy letting it continue to accumulate on Mathilde's shelves until she gets round to tinkering with it again. We might not get explicitly ordered to give to to someone else right away, but I very much expect there to be pressure that she gets on with it or finds someone who will.

The snake box probably won't be physically moving regardless.

I'm going to go ahead and assume there is either a more convenient method of creating orbs of sorcery, or the elves have a more convenient method of acquiring pure power of aethyr.
The Annulii Mountains (which divide inner and outer Ulthuan) are a place where reality is very thin. Plausibly there are naturally occurring portals into the warp that the Asur can use.

To get more without Vitae you'd need to find or make some other place where Winds are created, such as by travelling to the north pole, opening a portal to the Warp, or summoning and capturing large amounts of Daemons.
Humm…
@Boney Based on Mathilde's knowledge, would using an array of Orbs of Sorcery to create a tiny portal to the warp in a controlled environment be a viable avenue of research?

[X] Locals
Humans, Halflings and Dwarfs. No other option offers multiple peoples.

It could be. It's actually not that difficult to open portals to the Warp. The hard bit is closing them again. The typical way to accomplish this is to kill whoever opened it and tell everyone to stay away from that general area for a century or so.

I personally don't see the draw of locals as there's plenty of other jobs available for them, and feel the argument that not picking them is not living up to the founding purpose of the library is a huge stretch. Considering Cython falls into the exact criteria we specified.

I would (and am) arguing that the WE as the staff will be against the dream of 'multi-racial library of dwarfs, humans and halflings singing kumbaya'; they will be incredibly limiting when it comes to staffing options.

One: because if the library needs more staff, there won't be an option to hire a halfling or human, they will just lay more eggs.

Two: finding people that will work( or frankly even vist) a spider library will be hard.

Haven't we gotten enough done that we can Write The Book on AV now? Power Stone Interactions was one of the last things gating that I thought?

Just dropping that on the desk of Dragomas and departing with a T-Pose would probably make things very exciting.

I think you recall us being a lot more altruistic than we were. We have up the Skaven tech because Feldman paid us, upon realizing what he had paid us in a significant portion of the thread judged that he had ripped us off. Donations of valuable and unique resources 'for the good of the Empire' are not I think going to happen, because it takes away the possibility of us profiting as well as seeing cool stuff on screen as opposed to having the virtuous conviction of cool things happening somewhere off screen

[x] The We

As others mentioned before, I am concerned that our little undying snake box might become Vital Strategic Resource of the Empire, and slip out of our control.
Here is why: Our key to making OoS is not a unique process but a single object. Mathilde isn't necessary for the utilization of the object. OoS are incredibly scarce for the Colleges, and presumably valuable to a proportionate degree.
Therefore, if some higher authority (thankfully few remain that could pose a problem), or a politicking group (perhaps other Lord/Lady Magisters or even the heads of colleges) of relative soft power decide to take it, they can build a case for doing so.

It wouldn't be a particularly good case, as Mathilde isn't some random outsider but a Lady Magister of the same organization, and the object isn't unsafe but kept inside a memetically secure location. So the case wouldn't be good (or cheap to use), but it would be one that you can push through if you are willing to pay the cost. Think of something similar to Balthazar's nerds picking up all our Skaven loot, but potentially more shiny to all wizards. Is liquid magic that can make OoS and whatever else worth that to those people?

Narratively you cannot throw a stick in a pile of warhammer quests without hitting a multi-racial something. It is just what SV does in Warhammer at the first opportunity. Institutions staffed by sapient spiders are a good bit more unique.
