Skrag, or the Ponies?

I do not think Skrag was born yet and even if he were he would probably try to eat the nearest Waystone or carve it into a Cauldron, he is rather focused in his devotion :V

You know it just occurred to me that if they could get them Ogres would make great mercs for Laurelorn to hold off Norland. Not only do they fit a gap in the elven lines, strong disposable shock infantry, but it is a well known fact that elves do not taste that well to an Ogre and even if the Ogres decided they are going to try to hunt down the elves they likely could not outrun them before they made it to the cover of the woods. The only issue might be that such mercs would do undue harm to the Imperials which would raise the stakes, but in that case you could always blame it on them and cut them loose

Ogres? What Ogres?

I'm not that familiar with MLP, but wouldn't Celestia and Luna be fairly high in the food chain in WHF? Maybe not Teclis or Malekith-level, but certainly dangerous?

I'm not sure how exactly you would map the ability to move celestial bodies around the planet, considering I don't know what the fuck the sun and the moon are in the show. Otherwise, ehhh, lower-Alpha psykers, I think?

Shit, WHB, not 40k. Then, sure, fairly high.

Skrag hasn't taken a shower in 20 years.
Mental images i did not need. yuck.

Cannibalistic Ogre mercenaries to solve a diplomatic issue.

I'm sure nothing could go wrong.

Laurelorn already has enough force to resist nordland, if they are roused.

My God, that's both hilarious and horrifying :V

I know there's crossover fic where the Emperor is reincarnated as Celestia (and is much kinder than the cannon version).

It… depends a lot on how you interpret their power sets and feats. On the one hand, they regularly move celestial bodies. On the other, Celestia has lost at least one fight, and they tend to get Worfed pretty badly. On the third hoof, it's pretty easy to consider that they have to hold back heavily lest they nuke everything around them, and pony nature makes that a big no-no. On the fourth appendage, that does effectively lock them into lower power tiers except in rare occasions.

It's kind of a world of cardboard equation. If there's anything even remotely friendly nearby, yes they probably hit Teclis/Malekith/Mazdamundi levels. If not… Kroak would probably feel a bit insecure.

I think Luna and Celestia would be gods incarnate, sort of like Myrmidia, as they would not embody the sun and moon of Warhammer so they would be stuck with whatever is their native power.

Really like with all crossovers it depends on how the (meta)physics interact, but that is starting to get derailed so I will stop here on the matter

We can talk on this more if we find those ponies before they are Ogre meat. :V

Correction on this. He gets his arms cut off and exiled after accidentally cooking his Tyrant's favorite Gnoblar around 2496 IC, which is 8 years from now. Ogres live around 120 years according to 4th Edition Archives of the Empire Volume II, although even older sources indicated that they lived for quite a long time considering they share many physiological similarties to Halflings, another long lived race, except bigger in every way. He is very much alive and active by this point. Not the Prophet of the Great Maw yet and not a great choice either way, but that's part of the joke I assume.

I mean form the multi-colors they were probably some kind of Chaos Plot, probably Tzeench. :V

Seriously though that would be a fun crossover, I am kind of surprised no one did it. If one is going for a clash of tones you can hardly go wrong that way. I guess 40K would be even more of a whiplash, but that would sort of get lost in the SF to Fantasy transition whereas if you just dropped them all in fantasy... well there would be fireworks let's just say that

Iron Hearts: Book 1 - Planetfall

MLP/Warhammer 40K crossover. Chaos Space Marines from the piratical 38th Company have engaged Tau forces around a planet rich with alien life, magic, and... friendship? I guess? Weird.
This one is for 40K.

It's not the greatest fanfic, but pretty fun and light-hearted and IMO the later books do get pretty good in their own right.

Fair enough Skrag is alive... and we like al other living things should stay as far away from him as we can manage. Hopefully the butterflies will kill him. Maybe one of the everchosen candidates can do the world a favor on the way to becoming the ultimate monster and kill Skrag

Skrag is no big deal yet though.

Before his exile he was just a regular Ogre, wasn't he?

All the more reason to want him to die now before he can become a big deal, he is the kind of thing we do not need in the world. He might cause the Great Maw to be more active and that is the last thing anyone needs. Fortunately even if he does it is a long way to the borders of the Empire.... though K8P is in the way.

He was a Slaughtermaster, and Slaughtermasters are far from regular Ogres.
Still a kind of Ogre of which most tribes have one or more.

What made him exeptional was a mix of cirumstances and nature that can be butterflied at any moment, just like Skarsnick will never be a big deal in this world, or Karl Franz will never exist.

Eh... we did not spend that long with her, I would not want to read too much into that.

I didn't read "too much" into it—I read as much as was intended.

Eike has earned the trust of the other apprentices, who have taught her how to hide contraband from the college staff and are willing to exchange various luxuries to her in exchange for favours (and presumably vice versa). Both of these things are only possible if she's liked and well regarded, which in turn suggests that she is fitting in well and has friends she can count on.

Mathilde also judges her to be extroverted based on the fact that she deliberately didn't acquire furniture that could seal off her part of the room for privacy. That indicates that Eike doesn't think privacy is important or necessary, or that she engages with the other apprentices regularly enough that such privacy would be a hindrance to her.

And before someone jumps in with a "but you don't know that for sure!", I'd like to point out that all of the above is directly inferred from the text itself, and it's not like I'm pulling this out of my backside.

That is a fair point, I think that for now she seems to have adapted well and has some friends, it is not that shocking after all. Part of being a good merchant is being able to deal with people.

Oh, @Redshirt Army or @Boney, could you tag this one with a thread mark too? Don't want to see it lost-

Dear Oma I hope you are doing well back at home and I do miss you and uncle Anton. I don’t know if I like the Grey college very much. I like it a little, I think, but I’m not sure if I like it a lot. Somedays it’s nice, it is fun solving the different puzzles and there is a lot of reading of...

Small sleepy note on the matter of Eike, we should probably make sure she learns the elven tongue (can't spell what it is called this late :V ) so she can talk to the people of Laurelorn from the start, we know the Greys teach the tongue more than the other colleges since it helps with codes so it should bot be too hard to do.

@Boney

I've added a threadmark for this. Generally I've tried to avoid doing any threadmarking in-thread unless I'm certain that the QM would agree with it - like if it's part of an existing apocrypha series that has gotten threadmarks in the past. My apologies to Boney if my decision to threadmark this was incorrect.

When did the We flirt with us?
"We wish to know of not-We-Wes," it says, with a happy chitter of its mandibles. "The Karak-We is part of the Karaz-We, which is in a many-food with the Empire-We, which itself is made up of smaller-Wes which are made of smaller-Wes which are made of smaller-Wes. And each not-We is alone in its We, but it still seeks bigger-We. It is frightening and inspiring. Any other-We with a single Egg-Layer would be frightened, would seek only the safest food. But not-We are only ever one not-We, but they still hunt, and they hunt such that if they were other-We, we would consider it mating-suitability. Even you hunt, and you are the most-Echo of the not-We, who must know how only one you are."
the specific passage referred to

Not my thing. I also find the Imrik/Miao Ying ship annoying. Something about seeing a cold woman makes people really rabid about pairing her with a man to "make her cheer up" and I really dislike that. The concept isn't bad, but I've really soured on it over the years.
Knowing this has been happening, I think Tarriff portraying Imrik as an obsessive creep towards her is even funnier, because it's like it's got a layer of metacommentary on it.
