I quickly went through 6th, 7th and 8th Edition rulebooks, Storm of Magic and 2nd Edition WFRP and have not found a single space manipulation spell in the Lore of Light. There was one Cataclysm spell called "Assault of Stone" in Storm of Magic which let you create a hill by manipulating earthbound Light magic to alter the structure of the land, but nothing about manipulating space exactly.

There are definitely spells for messing with time or form though. Speed of Light and Birona's Timewarp are the standard Battle Magics for that. There is the Time Amok Cataclysm Spell, but that requires a Storm of Magic.

Pretty sure it should trigger when we are coordinating scouts, and not just when we are personally scouting ourselves.
Warrior of Fog: Appreciation of and focus on mastering the fickle fog of war. +2 martial. While in command, +10 bonus to scouting and moving forces unseen, +5 bonus to surprise attacks and ambushes. Unlocks creation of battlefield spells for revealing or concealing troop movements.

Though it might not trigger while scouting either in that case.
 
I don't know that I'd want an entire quest of this kind of spycraft, but this has been a treat in every respect, from sifting through clues to fun with Reggie to the sudden break in the case that has Taalites kicking down every door in the city.

The thing is that they are not really scouting, or moving forces unseen, or ambushing or surprise attacking. They set up a perimeter of patrols. Maybe it applies, but i just don't see it.

It has significant application to using military forces in a manhunt.
 
Honestly, the thing that sells the Hunter Lord for me is the image of using shadow steed to get there when she hears.

Stories of a Nightmare horse of Shadows ridden by a greatsword welding woman covered in smoke and mist storming down the streets at impossible speeds will last for years.
 
Putting aside game terms, Mathilde is capable of making sense of information flowing into a command center. She's done so at least once during the Karak Eight Peaks expedition (and I think during the battle of the Caldera? can't remember), and she should be able to do this here. The question is, how good will that information be, and how fast will it arrive.

Assuming Alberich doesn't just slip past his hunters using skill and sorcery, whoever spots him must report to the Hunter Lord fast enough for a response by Mathilde to be effective. The problem isn't Mathilde's speed, it's the communication speed of the pursuers.
 
Also, rite of way the Hunter Lord and his men out of the city, bit slower, but we wi hit the fight with a literal death charge.

Well they apparently have fireworks and birds, we do not need a detailed report, just Red Rockets for 'we found him' and say Blue Rockets for 'other danger' so that the Taalites can reinforce each other without drawing Mathilde from the hunt proper.
 
@Boney Will Warrior of Fog apply for any of the options in the vote? I was under the impression that no, since none of this is scouting or surreptitious movement of troops, but some people say it will apply if we stick to Hunter Lord. Care to weight in?

Boney's already said the signal for finding him is either fireworks for the Taalbaston Guard and howling for the Templars.

Well, that should be pretty fast. The main problem that remains is the quality of the information: will we have any reports? Will we have false alarms, due to distractions by Alberich and his potential allies? Remember that Alberich managed to kill at least one Unfähiger under Alric's nose, and since we now know that Alric likely knows who the next target is and is protecting him I think we should attribute this to Alberich's ability rather than incompetence by Alric. I'm not sure how much of a chance the non-magical forces we have stand against him if Mathilde and Regimand aren't in the field to help.

The same can be true if we go into the tunnel where we cannot see the sky and he has some way to get though that does not involve passing through there. If anything uncertainty about where he might attack inclines me to stay central so that we can react more flexibly.

Yeah, definitely risks whichever way we go. But if we're in the tunnels we will at least have a good shot of catching him if he goes through the tunnels, and Regimand will have a shot of catching him if he doesn't. If we're at the Hunter Lord's side waiting for reports, Alberich only needs to get past the non-magical forces we have searching for him. I imagine they have some countermeasures for stealth magic, they are witch hunters after all, but I don't know how effective they will be against the guy who got past the Magister Patriach of the Order of Beating Stealth Magic.

It's a real shame we didn't make any contact with the hunting lodge Unfähigers - their testimony regarding the murder that happened when Alric was present might've shed some light on Alberich's capabilities.

That is true, your way does cover more ground with magical support, at the cost of spreading it thinner, the thing is as I said before I do not in any way value the life of Random Noble 6 enough to place any significant extra risk on Mathilde or her master. If we do not make it here we still have two more short and seven more weeks until he is actually done. I do not see the gains as being worth the extra risk.
 
It's not a huge loss if we don't catch him, as he'll run face first into Alric's prepared defenses. We're here to make sure this doesn't blow back onto the empress, at this point I think one of the only things that would cause that is Alberich saying it and almost everyone involved in this is massively predisposed to shoot first and ask questions never when it comes to Chaos.

Alric getting credit for stopping this wouldn't be great, but it's not like we promised Mira anything and it shouldn't reflect badly on us if we miss him here. We did find out most of the relevant information and worked with the local anti-Chaos forces to get him, if Alberich succeeds and gets away that's on Alric, as "We trusted the Magister Patriarch of the Light Order to be able to defend against an agent of the Ruinous Powers while we worked to prevent the attack from happening in the first place" isn't something that can really be argued against imo.
