Probably, anyway. It's not impossible he has the contacts to have learned it, or found out some other way, but the evidence points to him not having the information.
I might be wrong here, but I think we may have added a bit of a complication to the whole endeavor by making it public.
Now that we have started a Witch hunt in a major city people are going to want to know that the Witch was burned. This is a public matter now both the public and the official who want it calm are going to want to have the public know the Witch is dead somehow. I'm sure ideally, they would want a grand stake burning of the visibly mutated cultist to show everyone the fate of those who fall to the dark gods but will accept any death in the end. The problem being we want to kill him in part to be certain he never spills that the Empress is not a member of his family. Sure that is not something he is likely to believe about since he is an obviously mutated cultist with reason to lie to spread harm to the Empire but it is one more complication.
At this point I doubt Al will succeed but our more subtle political goals might be more complicated depending on how events play out. In the end I am personally okay with that since my vision of our divide loyalties is the first priority is the chaos plot not succeeding then our more political goals but that does not mean they are not important too.
We have no idea what Alaric knows, or even suspects. He might know it, he might not.
Well, that's true. The ideal targets for 6 and 7 are with him, which gives him the advantage but 8 could be whoever. Alaric, a unfahiger, the current elector count of Talabecland (would make thematic sense, Alberich was elector count for a bit) so we don't really know the final target.Yes, but the ideal targets are with him, by his estimation. He can ignore the rest.

It is unlikely but with Alric being rather terrible at diplomacy he might have pissed off the locals who are keeping him in the dark.
Random witch hunting about someone called Alberich. Nothing to do with the ritual afflicting the unfahigers. While that could certainly be a reason for him to have missed Mathilde I don't think it likely that he missed the manhunt. Still that is a fair point, if he just thinks it's random cultist hunting, because all he has are rumors he might just sit tight.
We haven't taken any action to contact Alric or the Unafigers, so that's not really going to work.[X] With the Hunter Lord
- [X] Have all potential ritual victims gather in one place or as few specific place under your, Alric's or Regimands protection under heavy guard. That way Alberich will be forced to come to his victims under protection.
The circumstances of Alberich's disappearance are kept secret, presumably because it's the sort of thing the powers that be really don't want the general populace to know. The fact that a former Elector Count of the Empire turned to Chaos, went on a trip to Hell, and has returned to murder the nobles of the Empire is likewise the kind of thing the authorities wouldn't want to advertise. I'll be shocked if Alberich's identity is known to anyone involved in the search save maybe the Hunter Lord and some of his closest subordinates, and possibly not even that.IDK if they announced his name at all. That is the easiest thing for a fugitive to change after all.
For whatever reason, that's the way Alric chose to go. According to Mathilde the next victim has already been decided and it was possible for her to see it with her Windsight, and she believes Alric also knows the identity of the next victim. Maybe Alric thinks changing the victim mid-ritual is difficult? Maybe his protections work best when they protect a small number of people? Who knows. We never talked to anyone involved in the Alric investigation so we can only guess.Shouldn't all potential victims be gathered in one area under Alric's protection, that way the culprit will have no choice but to go into the trap instead of doing a coin flip on which target to choose.
Maybe Alric thinks changing the victim mid-ritual is difficult?
Maybe he's trying to ambush Alberich possibly from some sort of magical concealment?
Alric willingly cutting himself off from the outside would neatly explain why he hasn't reacted to the new developments.
A Light Wizard trying to be stealthy with magic? That does not seem likely. It would be like if we tried to make a truth spell with Ulgu.
Does it? Holding perimeter doesn't feel like scouting. If anything it should've applied to the manhunt, but even there it would be sorta tetchy because because frankly this is not army against army.Waiting with the Hunter Lord means putting Warrior of Fog to work cornering a fugitive with an army of skilled trackers
Light magic has some space warping stuff and whatever Alric's faults he's no slouch when it comes to magic.
