[x] Plan: Ritual Centre

Wonder if the extraordinary violence of the murders was ritually significant or trying to disguise that its replicating whats essentially a Series Of Unfortunate Events..
Except for the final death.
If there's 8 murders, the ritual is dedicated to Khorne, so the violence would be significant.

The Haupt-Anderssen who'd simply keeled over dead misstep must have posed a tricky question for the reenactor, who had done their best to escalate the seemingly rootless death with a stiletto to every organ that left quite a set of stains in a corridor rug.
Is that supposed to be mid-step?

I will always cheerish the moment where a plan I made was in the lead, and by a good 30% of the next closest vote.
Hmm . . . Could we social Elspeth to find out what was under Drakenhof or is that too plot-relevant?
Only if we have a reason to ask after it. The weird death of a patriarch is bound to be a bit of a sensitive topic. Especially since he was there to investigate a hero who fell heroically, and now his daughter is also doing heroic things. And his companions then left during a crucial moment of an important (and later very successful) campaing against necromancers and vampires, without actually doing much about those during the whole thing. While being from a college who's big job is killing necromancers and vampires. And the one who's asking was the one to actually finish that campaign, and also a good friend of both current and prior ruler.
Also, the magic doodad that caused it is probably evil and certainly dangerous, which is the sort of thing colleges really don't like talking about internally, let alone with outsiders.

So, probably a little awkward to bring up.

You would make a terrible conspiracy theorist if you can't imagine a reason for Alric to murder Gotrek.
Did I confuse Dum guy for Fell In A Ditch guy?

I think we should survey Hunting Lodge over interrogate or approach.
A bit clunky but here:

Instances of eight murders requires Alric. Seventh is either or. Survey only works if we survey the correct target, but since there are only two possibilities the target doesn't matter.

If we are right then both Survey the Spa and Abelreich's life is redundant.

If we are wrong we are only left with a 7-8 ritual that targets the spa. From there we should instead research Abelreich's life instead of surveying the Spa, since we already know his target, just not the type of ritual.

[X] Hope This Made Sense
-[X] Surveil the hunting lodge Unfahigers
-[X] Research: Alberich's form
-[X] Renegotiate with Mira

Abelreich's unknown form was also mentioned in the story along with the type of ritual. We also don't really know what we're facing. I really don't see anything essential for the third slot, someone else probably does though.

We probably don't need to surveil both the spa and hunting loge Unfahigers. But what we should do is make sure Krieglitz's very obviously secret secrets aren't tied up in all this. Ransack has us search for info, not loot - but some of that loot is probably ill-gotten gains from Deiter IV, or otherwise things that we can steal without them being able to point the finger at us for taking away from them.

I will probably change my votes later but bringing in Alric seems like the best way to prevent him from creating empire wide unrest by digging into the past of the Empress.

Thanks for the update @Boney. It's quite interesting. I'm liking that you finally have the opportunity to build up an antagonist ahead of time by giving us hints and details and specifics about him ahead of time.
I like that you don't specify whether you mean Alric or Alberich here.
In this arc, Mathilde faces ALBERIC, the murderous ELECTOR COUNT of the LIGHT COLLEGE, out to REGAIN his INFLUENCE by preventing the DESPICABLE MURDERS of the Unfahigers, that he orchestrated to AVENGE the GRUESOME KILLINGS of his family during the NIGHT OF A THOUSAND ARCANE DUELS, which led to his fall of influence and his EXILE into the WARP.

My first thought was a Potara Earring fusion between Alberich and Alric. I don't even know what either of them looks like, so my mental image is just a big question mark. I have decided that this is what Alberic looks like:

[ ] Bring in the Empress
She will bring with her a lot of influence, a lot of skill, a lot of attention, and a lot of questions. But she now has an even bigger vested interest in seeing this wrapped up quietly.
@Boney can I ask what the nature of the questions are? Starke questions so Mathilde can have a cover to sweep it under the rug? Or eyebrow-raising questions on the exact nature of Heidi and Mathilde's relationship?

Investigating only the lodge is the worst option here. If we watch the spa and fail then we narrow the options down a lot. If we observe the lodge and come out empty, we learn very little. Given that the spa is more likely to begin with, the value of only lodge is almost nothing.
I think this guy has a point. Any reason he's not?

Fell in a Ditch Guy is the legendary Worst Slayer Gotrek from Gotrek and Felix so the joke is that he perceived the effect that Gotrek would have on the timeline and arranged for his death.
A good slayer is someone who dies fulfilling their revenge, therefore in the canon timeline he was the worst because he helped the Chaos Gods who were the cause of his revenge. Did I get that right?

A good slayer is someone who dies clearing their shame, removing the burden of guilt from their legacy. The Worst Slayer is named as such because he never died no matter what he fought, always winning the fight but coming out alive. He survived the End Times, which was supposed to be the end of the world, taking his God's place in Age of Sigmar. His companion Felix didn't even follow him into the new world, so apparently he's been spending ages looking for a reincarnation of Felix and not finding him.

No worse fate for a Slayer I guess.
