What are we thinking in terms of actions?

Hopefully the Stirlandian League stuff will only require one action, but I wouldn't mind all that much if it were two. Since we're going to be spending the time with Wilhemina, a Getting To Know You wouldn't be remiss. The Stirlandian League's territory covers the Old Dwarf Road, if I recall, so we might also want to take the "Worden failed to fall under your influence..." action that popped up last turn, since it's right in the middle of the road's length -- we may even find that the issue was related to the League.

We'll also almost certainly be taking the mirrorbox action.

That's almost all of them, there. I was hoping to get a bunch of training actions in, but it's looking like that would waste a fair bit of synergy.
I'm expecting two on our job, even if the work is split between Mathilde and Wilhelmina. Getting to know Wilhelmina is definitely good. I don't think Wörden on its own is worth an action - maybe if we can visit a few more towns in the process. Instead I'd go for the mirrorbox, an action spent vetting Julia properly, and a training action.

Yeah let's ...not expand the thieves guild.

If this was a major place of wealth such as nuln or one of the other provinces, then sure, why not. It gives us more Intel and a spy network.

But our province is fairly poor, and making the criminals more organized is bad. Seriously you don't want criminals being organized, it's how crime lords control and have monopolies on territories and governments.

Because while some may be in ranalds favour and do the whole Robin hood thing, the vast majority are criminals out of necessity and aren't averse to violent crime.

Or worse, they want democracy and to end the nobility. Which is a big no no

Secondly, for van hal. We really really shouldn't try to push ranald on him, if anything we should make him a morrite. He will be fighting undead things after all , morr is pretty useful for that, as well as having a population that leans towards morr.

There is a reason ranald isn't a popular god nor one people brag about worshiping.

Taking care of the league this turn should be possible with out using to many of our actions so we should get to know Wilhemina better while we are doing it. Although considering her probably low piety I wonder how she got close to a witch hunter in the first place and why she became a tax collecter before she meet the boss. Also we really need to look in to the former spy master and doing it while we are going after the league he created is as good a time as any.

The point being that crime exists, and organized crime exists because it outcompetes rival forms of crimes. Better to have the crime organized under US than by literally anyone else. We don't have the level of law enforcement needed to actually go crime free. So we take it under our control, limit the damage, and put the funds into our black ops budget

And its the ONE network we know is vampire free.
In the wake of the League's destruction, smuggling is going to skyrocket as the former league channels reroute to taxed routes, driving a crime wave. We're better off riding it, because SOMEONE will.
And well, we really want to know what people smuggle.
Yeah, aren't we pretty sure that the reason that Schultz would have been interested in that is because the destruction of the League basically means there's going to be the possibility of setting up much more lucrative trade routes through Stirland now that there's not someone basically stealing everything that goes along them?
Yes, but we don't know who's upstream of that information channel or who else is listening in. Best to move fast.

What does Matilda look like? Google has failed me and I haven't been able to find any decent art like I usually do.

Maybe someone can draw or commission some art? Don't forget to add her sword though.

Kasmir should know he screwed up based on our passive aggressive comments and Van Hal's reactions in the last two meetings, to say nothing of the private meetings they've probably had. The real question is if he can correctly identify why the Count is upset with him and fix it. This might resolve itself, and I hope it does.

Us trying to resolve it ourselves feels like overreach on our part and an excuse to manipulate the Elector Count. We are already fairly close to him, from the outside it might look like we're trying to drive a wedge between the Van Hal and Kasmir. That's the kind of backroom politics that gets people trying to kill you.

Informational -> Character Sheet

We have a picture.

At first I was confused what United States have to do with this situation.

Phew, finally managed some time to chime in again.

Also we really need to look in to the former spy master and doing it while we are going after the league he created is as good a time as any.

My thinking as well, we uproot the entire structure in one fell swoop and immediately follow up on any leads we get from the organisation's brass, we should hopefully be able to smoke him out from whatever hole he's crawled into.

Morr could be a viable alterative, but I feel like we should at least make an effort to get Van Hal back on the Sigmarite track. As was pointed out before, Sigmar is the God of civilisation and thus a great patron for an Elector count, and he has relied on Sigmar during his previous career. Having him reconvert would not only mean him changing his religious identity and all the implications that entails, but would also cast a shadow over all of his previous accomplishments done in Sigmar's name.

That being said, I believe we're quite unsuited for the job for a variety of reasons, but there's simply no one else who will at least try and look after his spiritual health. His childhood friend and closest ally would be glad to see him rid of his patron God, and his Chaplain is the entire reason he's having a crisis of faith in the first place. We could try and sink an action into finding a Sigmarite priest that aligns with Van Hal, and trying to get the two in touch with each other? It's hamfisted but quite honestly I can't think of anything else we could do, short of talking with Kasmir and trying to get it through his thick skull that he needs to get his shit together. But I can't imagine that going well. At all.

So we are hot. And our boss saw us basically naked. That's hilarious. Can someone make an AU of that scene? It's just funny to have a lewd moment appear out of nowhere contrasted against the danger of infiltrators.

So you are telling me you don't want to be the Godmother of Wurtbad :c

Bit like veekie said there is already going to be organized crime so why not let us control it instead and take back some of the stolen goods into our budget

Also vampire and chaos cults can cause more damage to the economy than petty thieves so having a network to root them out of hiding and destroy them before they get to big is a major plus for us

I know it probably won't happen but, I want the vampire to be a little girl who doesn't really know how to vampire and is kind of a klutz. Perfect little sister material!!

While I wouldn't be opposed to getting an actual, loyal, vampire on our side during our casing of Sylvania (it would be an invaluable intelligence asset if we can keep from getting eaten or converted), that's the kind of thing that would have Van Hal questioning our sanity and maybe switching into full on "Burn the Witch" mode. Vampires, at their core, are monsters with a very real chance of going insane and after all the chaos the von Carstein's have created over the centuries trying to take over the Empire, no one that isn't from Sylvania will ever trust a vampire. That's not getting into how the various religious orders will react either.

Not worth it.

Admittedly, in the earlier editions it was way easier for a vampire to be a hero, but that was before later editions tried to grimdark it up.
Such as Genevieve Sandrine du Pointe du Lac Dieudonné, a Lahmian vampire who saved the life of emperor Karl Franz and could count herself among his personal friends.

Speaking of Warhammer's vampires, it's important to remember that, as vampires get older, they progressively require less and less blood to maintain themselves as their dhar stabilizes. This also makes them more powerful.

There are also Blood Dragon vampires, who are cheating cheaters who cheat.

And it's important to remember that Lahmian vampires are the immortal nemesis of the Nehekharan court of Lybaras and seek to reconquer their Queen's cursed city from the Tomb Kings- thus their desire to cleave themselves to the movers and shakers of the Old World.

I feel like we really can't afford to antagonize the Grand Theologonist and whoever has his ear in convincing him Kasmir was a good idea. Like before we write Kasmir off totally we could help him at least be passably knowledgeable of other cults and find a way to show what he's good at. Who knows, he may actually experience some character growth, and giving him that chance is preferable to just watching him and Van Hal feed into each others worst qualities and spending turns without the good use of a spiritual adviser until Abelhelm has to burn the capital to dismiss him.

When he arrives and opens the meeting, Van Hal's first order of business is the introduction of the newest member of the council. Outrider Champion Gustav von Jungfreud, proven warrior and able commander, et cetera, et cetera. You're all introduced to him, and you give him a smile and nod when it is your turn, though in all honestly you doubt he'll last much longer than the Professor did.

"So, Gustav," Van Hal begins the meeting proper. "We've spoken at length of your plans to establish pistoliers in Stirland. I feel it will be a worthy addition to Stirland's forces, both in times of war and to keep the roads clear in times of piece. Work with Wilhelmina and Anton in arranging the importation of the firearms you'll need. Make sure there's close ties between the pistoliers and the Roadwardens - they'll be working hand-in-hand." Gustav looks pleased, but he's barely given an opportunity to express his thanks before Van Hal's moving on. "Anton, report."

"Everyone along the Stirland-Sylvanian border is on board with the fortification plans, and the corvée are being organized for Herr Schultz now," Anton says, looking pleased with himself. The news causes Schultz to perk up a little too, though only barely.

HORNAU COOPERATION: Secured.
STEINBACHTHAL COOPERATION: Secured.
SIEGFRIEDHOF COOPERATION: Secured.

"Speaking of, Schultz, how goes the road?"

"It cuts right through a place called the Haunted bloody Hills! How do you think it's going?" he snaps, then quails under the look Van Hal gives him. "It... progresses. There's been attacks, nothing organized, including one where I damn near got my head bitten off by some glowing green ghost thing waving a farming implement around, but they seem unorganized and they're being suppressed by patrols from the 2nd and 3rd divisions."

LEICHEBURG-LANGWALD ROAD: Construction commenced.

"When you go back, it'll be with several squads of Greatswords at your back." Schultz looks even more perked up at that. "Begin construction of a permanent fortified barracks at Leicheburg, large enough for two divisions. And don't forget the embrasures for cannon and mortar - there's ten of each assigned to the 3rd. Use local labour as much as possible without sacrificing the strength of the walls." He consults his notes. "Anton... pack for..." he hesitates, and drums his fingers on the table while he considers. "Flensburg. We'll try to unravel that terrible knot while things are quiet. " Anton winces, but nods. "Wilhelmina?"

"Archives are as secure as a dwarvern vault. Nothing's getting in there that isn't allowed to be. Apart from that, nothing new on the money front - we've still got a bit of a surplus but that'll change soon." She glances at Gustav and Schultz.

EAGLE CASTLE: Archives reinforced.
WEALTH OF STIRLAND: Poor.
INCOME OF STIRLAND: Mediocre.
TREASURY OF STIRLAND: Poor.

"Money is for spending," Van Hal says dismissively. He checks the papers in front of him again, and then compares two side-by-side. "Weber, report."

"The castle infiltrators were sleeper agents," you report confidently. "They have not been conducting any significant sabotage, and I can confidently say that all other castle servants have been examined, their backstories hold up and all future servants will be rigorously examined to prevent more of this. These agents escaped detection because while they were lying about having any religious beliefs, they got away with it because nobody could probe them further on Morrite or Shallyan practices." You consult your own notes to keep from giving Kasmir an accusing look. "Their loyalty was secured by a necromantic spell that would kill them if they even thought of betraying their master, or if their master did not meet them for more than a few days. Said master had fled the area the very night an infiltrator got caught. And on a side note, the the monsters in the castle walls were previous victims of the spell." You look up once more and note that your audience is rapt. You suppose it's no wonder - they're talking about humdrum matters of construction and travels and infrastructure and you're telling tales of necromantic thralls being purged from the castle.

Van Hal nods. "A thorough investigation. Well done." He glances down at his notes once more. "You and Wilhelmina are to work together. The Stirlandian League has been allowed to continue for long enough. Crush them, seize everything of value they possess, and restore normal trade." You note that Schultz is unable to conceal the sudden increase in attention he's paying. "With the archives restored, you should be able to draw suitable legal authority based on non-payment of taxes." Van Hal pauses for a moment before turning to the last man at the table. "Kasmir..." He seems to struggle with himself for a moment, then sighs. "Continue with your chaplain project."

Can you put down a threadmark for this? Just so others know what's going on.

Also what's it like having 60 some people checking out your quest?

Where did we land on what, exactly, 'introduce' meant in re: Julia. Is Van Hal being told of her existence or is she being brought into the meeting? Edit: Never mind, the private meeting details clarify it well enough.

I'll edit it in. And it's pretty gratifying to have such a readership.

I don't think it was in this meeting, just tell him of her for now.

Anyway, the private post council meeting is the shippers Special Alone Time for them, don't ruin their fun. ;)

For this, do we pick like Intrigue or Learning? Is learning new magic stuff based on Magic or Learning?
QM said that doing both Intrigue and Learning training has great potential this turn. So ideally we can do both.

I think doing Magic is linked to, well, Magic- Spells, Enchantment.

Maybe... Asp, Thieves Guild, League+a followup, Training... plus one more (ideally training)
