I voted for it, but with a roll where they just barely managed to not blow up, maybe now's a good time to do a follow-up diplomacy action where we educate people on how to run the station better.

Whether we follow up on the station or not, Neablus explicitly saying that monastery diplomacy would discount our psy shields makes me want to do it this turn.

I disagree. We did leave this to them so that we can focus on other stuff. Now that they've cleared the most dangerous hurdle by themselves, even if just barely, it would be very inefficient to start meddling with their progress.

Going by this:
A roll of 9 might see people successfully fleeing the station, a roll of 12 might see people getting poisoned by bad atmosphere but not quite to a lethal level. But then again, a roll of 91 will see them develop a very responsible and effective culture of space-responsibility where even children are taught from a young age which codes mean what, which will accelerate their spread across space.
A bare success means they're going to have a hard time making any progress on their own.

Yes, I understand that. But we have our own stuff to focus on at this point, and are approaching the point of leaving this place for quite some time. And we will still have accelerated their progress considerably. So I'm inclined to leave the rest to them.

Fair enough. Though I don't think we're completely done helping them until they can defend themselves against invasion - but we're going to be exploring the rest of the solar system before we leave it, so that can wait.

Considering how dangerous the galaxy I wouldn't be comfortable with leaving until they have at least a Heavy Cruiser sized monitor floating around.

Could we look to do a bit of a worldwide talent quest in the next few turns for people who would be good crew members.. such as exceptional scientists, military people, mechanics, pilots, diplomats, psychers engineers etc. I think it beefs us up mechanically and also narratively makes actions more fun and unique

Don't forget that we can pursue the AI tech chain and start to make followers as well. In the short term this will be much harder than finding people, but could be easier in the long term.

I wonder if it was something deliberate?

Pro Aevon partisans who want to maintain the lead they have in the bootstrapping race by sabotaging the cooperative project or something.

Note that Neablis has said he wants to prevent (named) crew bloat, so there's a relatively hard cap of 5-7 specific characters in our crew, which is already at 2, probably 3 when the Navigator grows up, potentially 4 if we pick up a psyker on Denva as well - and we haven't even checked the Primus Xenos yet for any interesting members. So if we want room in our crew without amalgamating new recruits into the existing crew Belisarius Cawl style, we might want to hold off on filling up our crew before we even leave the first system.

That being said, @Neablis (apologies if this has been addressed before and I missed it) would we be able to recruit unnamed or secondary characters to work under our named/primary crew in their speciality? They could form "departments" that our main/primary/named crew lead as "officers", Star Trek-style, and assist officer actions by augmenting primary character crew rolls (maybe even a saving throw if the team is good enough)?
