-[X] Explain who you are, that you're an explorer from what is--by now--a very long dead human state, and you certainly aren't an enemy of the Emperor or plan to become one if you have any say over the matter. You've heard fairly positive things about the Adeptus Astartes though from checking through some archives, and you're willing to discuss some means where you can work out some level of reasonable cooperation--goodness knows everything looks like it's turned into an outright mess since you were forced to take a very long nap.

[X] Space Marine: Talk (The first question is easy enough. You are Vita, an Explorer from the Golden Age of humanity, who awoke from stasis within the last couple centuries. You are, as you have always been, someone who only wants the best for humanity. As for the God-Emperor...well, you predate the Imperium, and as such haven't been raised to worship Him.)

Ok, I need a single d100 for this conversation. It's not a full diplomacy action but it'll likely be just as significant. You will have a +23 modifier to the roll.

I'll likely get the update out in the next several hours, then we'll start the process of figuring out the next plan.

@Neablis
If we want Daemon burning fire (preferably of the "heavy augmentation + psytech to use remotely" variety) is this specialization split critical or can we get it either way?
You can get it either way, but it'll look different. Champion is better for doing it earlier and killing smaller numbers of tougher enemies, keeping her general is better for making battleship-scaled psytech that could scourge a planet.

Basically, do you want her to kill bloodthirsters or demon planets.

Thank you. That's a 74+23=97. Nice.

Crit success on the base diplomatic conversation. I think we're on just about the best possible starting terms with the space marines that we could be.

Victan, my guy, you are a MAD LAD. XD

With the sheer amount of diplomatic charisma we're capable of, we could probably convince an Eldar to break their spirit stone and be totally okay with it.

I kneel to the A.I rizz-

Oooo, guesses in the chance for a space marine bean? Someone to be a commander, train up Cia as a champion, and maybe compete with Victan to be a dad figure to a navigator child?

We might be able to have a crew that consists of the bubbly cheerful femme AI captain, biomimetic gilded femme tech priest, golden retriever jock femme champion, smart svelte suave genius masculine spy-diplomat we already have, joined by....

A statuesque fake-himbo space angel masculine commander, and the as-of-yet-unknown child navigator they are all raising together as they explore the galaxy?

Could be great dynamics.

While having a marine would be pretty neat and a great addition to any discussion we'd need to get over allot of hang ups which are psycho-indoctranated into them and this stuff is so potent that even with ten thousand years since it was probably last updated chaos still can't just crack marines without their cooperation.

That's deeply implausible at the moment, no matter how good the first impression may or may not be. That said, if the spess muhreens end up being relatively deep on the reasonable end of the spectrum, and we end up with extended good relations with them (maybe we take the place of some of their AdMech tech support?), then I could see us eventually getting to that point given a decade or three. Or five.

I feel like the 'without their cooperation' but is exactly the point though! We are, as of now, a legitimate force for a better future for the galaxy, potentially superior long-term to the emperor, given the unknown fate of terra. So corrupting them in good faith? Anticorrupting? Something like that.

Does that include actual Daemon Worlds, or "just" worlds most of the way to becoming one?

While demon worlds are nasty we're already pretty suited to cleansing them sure a psyker would help but just chucking bots from orbit to crush everything funky looking and then dropping a lance barrage to cleanse what's left of our troops is a viable strategy.

That's assuming we want anything intact building kinetic kill vehicles in a ship yard is also viable seriously 10 destroyers with nothing but engines will ruin even a demon planets day.

We are a long way off on building something large enough to blow up a daemon world. Getting daemons on the ship could happen next warp jump if we are unlucky.

We do have psy research regarding bongo aiding us on that part + research on warp understanding

Psy shields should at least help mitigate that a shiton

Besides we would need to crit fail transit to get deamons inside sacrificing potential for a meh skill to be used on what would be a non-common event seems wasteful

Does just blowing up a daemon world work? Once you've stopped all the things trying to eat you before you do?

Because we've got "exterminatus-scale warheads for nukes" within a 150 point research. (Which doesn't excite me that much on its own but getting to Nova Cannons could be fun.)

No, the daemon world is half in the warp and is an enormously powerful psyker on its own, it can just decide the cyclonic torpedos are made of cheese once they get close enough. The only way to kill one is to overwhelm it with psychic power.

Really adorable you think enough bombs can kill a full-fledged Daemon World when it can casually make reality do whatever the hell it wants it do. The only way to destroy them is through incredibly powerful psychic power or an act of God (God-Emperor, Star-Child, etc.). Since that isn't exactly easy to come by, the standard procedure is just to quarantine the whole system and shoot whoever tries to enter or leave it.

Buuut that's not to say that Cia going champion would be a "waste", since Daemons can pop up outside of Warp transit and she can still kill plenty of non-Daemonic Elites just fine.

Pretty sure Necrons have a perfectly materium science based bomb that could destroy a daemon world. :V

I've been thinking about the psychic computation research -branch. Because if, and I do mean if we manage to make Vita a psychic, the most "natural" discipline for her would probably be technomancy, right? Or at the very least, her being an AI as a baseline should make her uniquely suited for it.

So I have to ask: What could a psychic technomancer AI with Battleship-scale psytech-boosters do?
