Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
The Wang don't really have anything to reach out to Ling Qi about at present, save anything that arises from being neighbors, because Wang Chao isn't really a mover or a shaker. But the Diao's interest in Su Ling and the matter of the fox are both currently matters that others will approach Ling Qi about even without her actively pushing the plot forward, even if that's low-level interaction.

The most important factor for building closeness is continued interaction. Given Ling Qi's limited resources and time, it'd be best to get something that will make the Wang take more initiative in the relationship.

We have an upcoming action with Foundations since we got our rep to +3, and none with the Diao in relation to Su Ling. So it'll be a good way to tie it to the narrative.

And we're a baby baron while they're count clans. We're supposed to reach out to them rather. It's best to work with them, people who are likely to listen to us, especially in the upcoming summit. It's better to have a strong partner who'll support you, rather than someone who'll just be wishy-washy because they're neutral.

She found that her support was strong among the Foundations region, the southernmost part of the Emerald Seas, consisting of the foothills of the Wall and much of the Wang lands. There was much praise, but she could see a great deal of opportunism. New against old, the young clans seeking her associating to raise their own status.

And there was no wrong in that, she supposed, if they stood with her on the right matters, if they could be brought to support Renxiang. There was, as Shu Yue would say, a grudge there. There was an undercurrent of being hard put upon, a resentment for the more northerly regions. They saw themselves as injured by the endless raiding, and blame for that spread north.

It was something to be careful of, an ugly infection that needed tending, lest it turn into outright rot. South and west, if the Meng could be won. A distant dream, but something perhaps to work towards. She'd have to talk to Hanyi, about what it was like in person.

This sounds perfect. The first step of the inevitable Weilu reformer takeover, let's go!

I think focusing on our strengths, and thus the Wang and Foundations is probably the correct way to go here politically. That said, our fox-murder plans will make me relatively satisfied if the other option wins as well.

We need at least one area that's firmly on our side. And they're our neighbours to boot.

While I find the Wang really important as our immediate neighbours, we currently have a (rare?) opportunity with the Diao, the Diao are the "de facto ruling clan" of the ES so we're gonna see them whatever we do.

But then our neo-Weilu project will probably continually erode Diao support, so is it better the have very friendly Wang and unfriendly Diao or friendly Wang and neutralish Diao? I dunno.

Third the most important *unfurls shipping chart*. With enough Diao support we can put our finger on the scale for getting Su Ling adopted. Which means a Gan & Su Ling marriage is politically valuable. Those two are rather sensible and emotionally stable people which means high couple satisfaction. Which means lot's of little fox children! bam!
all according to keikaku! all according to keikaku! all according to keikaku! all according to keikaku!

It'll take a few years/decades for the Guardian couple to set up theGuardian couple and kick off their marriage :V. Gotta focus on having a strong political block for the summit and boons for the fief for now.

I'm hoping any bit of Wang favor now will lead to construction bonuses for our fief, which will compound as it grows.

There's plenty of good strategic and political arguments for either option, but personally I find the Diao much more interesting than the Wang.

There's a lot of momentum here, I'd hate to lose it.

Still tough choice.

As the group closest to the polar nations having a large support base with the foundation helps ensure any projects in the far south go smoothly. While unlikely, the last thing we want is another BINO incident. For me it makes a lot of sense to build support in the south and then move north. Plus this will get our first level four region which seems to be a big break point.
